FFXIV Random Complaint Thread II: DPS can't count to potato

well, I found out what Five-Headed Dragon's ultimate move does if you don't DPS down the heads. that was a fun PUG. some of the worst DPS I've ever experienced. the players seemed like they knew what they were doing - I guess it was just a lot of really bad gear? idk.

not really complaining; it was kinda funny, and it felt all the more triumphant when we beat him the second time. although I don't like taking an hour+ to get through freaking WoD.

What is it? I've never seen it. Always been curious.

Same thing as with all heads dead, just one-shot damage?

yep, exactly. I think the damage probably increases with the number of heads left alive? but we had one and that was 30k so.... yeah. it's not like Cloud's meteors where you can miss just one and survive lol

Speaking of worst _____ ever in WoD, my weekly run included:
- Cerberus not only still alive after the second stomach phase but still well over 15℅ with adds alive,
- 5-headed dragon almost finishing channeling his second (!) Discordance,
- needing to save LB for tanks / healers on CoD in case it got too many stacks (after wiping twice)
- me somehow stealing hate from tank on CoD, despite being on my i109 DRG that I never play.

I also managed to do 30+ DPS than second best (which is telling considering the above).

In retrospect, I think that amount of badness was so entertaining I should have posted it in Random Praise instead.

although come to think of it, I did wipe on CoD once when people weren't doing meteors. but only the one time.

It's (sadly) not uncommon to wipe on CoD on my data center because of meteors, CoD's ultimate when too many clouds reach her (she gets stacks of Damage Up when it happens, 1 for small clouds, 3 for big clouds) or just people forgetting to play whack-a-mole with the Shadow Lurkers. It's quite embarrassing.

I still haven't managed to solo the Tortoise or Chimera peisteskin maps.

Chimera always overwhelms me with the snake adds at the end that can all petrify, Tortoise I just wind up timing out on (which is worse -_-).

It's particularly frustrating when the maps are in spots that have a bunch of random mobs around cause even if the mobs aren't dangerous they still consume Bane targets and shit.

Speaking of, I got Shiva HM in trial roulette yesterday on PLD. Had 2-4 new people. 2 people died on golems because of overlapping staff ice aoe circles and they stayed dead for the remainder of the fight. One golem was still alive when Shiva froze us all for Diamond Dust. Surprisingly we didn't die; it's like Ifrit HM where it's just a high but not wipe amount of damage (also the golem died after Diamond Dust on its own).

From there we went down to all DPS dead, then the newbie WHM dead. Last 20% was just me, other tank (who didn't dodge any Glacier Bashes), and SCH.

I didn't really have any words because I didn't know what to feel overall.

Sounds like a Titan HM in Trial Roulette I had awhile ago that we killed from 45% > 0 with only 2 PLDs and myself on SCH. I almost let one of the PLDs die though when I had to respond to the people asking for raise to tell them that they weren't worth the MP. Rotating adlos to survive a zillion stomps is fun.

Only 30? I've been 140 above next place.

Edit: oh, 109 drg, nvm. Seen all the others as well though. Including things like the above happening then someone after saying "this is a pretty good run" etc.

I have never seen that happen in all my runs. Though I did join a WoD in progress that were half an hour in and still stuck on the first boss.

first boss is always the biggest hurdle. same with Scylla imo. although that is pretty sad either way, a half hour...

my groups last night were decent. the first one took forever but one-shotted every boss so I can't complain. second one breezed though; always nice. and I got multiple drops for caster as well as two - TWO drops in one run - for healer, which is my main. very happy! finished right-side Daystar and have only two left-side Demon left. kinda excited to start my SMN when I get this all done.

wait, shit I should haven't said that. now the RNG gods are going to be all angry with me... damnit.

Why must leveling chocobo companion be such a chore? It's not even useful for anything once leveled. I've been feeding this piece of shit + doing companion log for about 5 months now and I'm about to hit 13. To make matters worse once you hit 12 the chocobo food stops being 1% EXP.

I'm 18.5 and yeah I just feed it as often as I can remember. Hitting the log alone is 15% XP which is the biggest gain after rank12. I pretty much just kill my 100 mobs each week and leave him in the stable. Then its a matter of feeding him and hoping a FC mate feeds him as well. I also feed any FC mate with a rank11+ bird in hopes they will repay the favor.

I remember someone brought up the gambit system at FFXIV fanfest while they were talking about it on stage. Hopefully they'll add it in for chocobos to make them suck less. Though, I bet we'll just get a magitech armor companion to produce more salt.

ok I thought people were just bitching about the tower being bad lately but omg. no. this is just awful. how do you wipe to trash mobs?? and hey, let's point White Breath right at the healer! that's super-awesome!

I am not ashamed to say I x'd out of the game. fuck this. I'll take my half-hour penalty.

Heh, my favorite moment had to be from tonight, some mnk kept dying to doom on the first boss, saying he couldn't see the debuff, the boss casting it, or the right panel to remove it, all I told him was to suck less, my fc tells me he tried to votekick me lol.
