Adding MSQ fights to trial DR is just a bad decision overall. Add it to the DF, fine, but not the trial roulette.
Just got Steps again, I fought the urge to bail immediately, thought I'd give it one try, I need to stop being so "optimistic".
Looked like 1 new person, on tank as usual I ask the other tank if they want to get mobs or a cannon, they say mobs, so I take a cannon.
3 mins of asking who can get the other cannon and who can get towers with no one saying a word, eventually people realize ain't shit happening until we get this worked out and roles are assigned.
Tank doesn't know how to collect mobs, constantly out of range of cannons, mobs kill healers, DK person screws up first and second DKs.....
Ran into the next swipe, left.
Half the point of the trial roulette is to get people to help with the trials. The storyline fights are annoying to get people for otherwise (I'm looking at you Cape Westwind). The problem with Steps of Faith is it's not a very fun fight after the "OMG GIANT DARGON" wears off. Its slow, tedious, and takes forever regardless of if you're going to wipe or not. The not resetting when a wipe is inevitable is the worst part.
Shit man, everyone got me feeling like when I que up for Steps it's going to be like using DF for T9 or something. Just unlocked it, prolly going to swoop up some friends for tank spots or something before I go in![]()
i tried really hard to get into big fishing, but mooching just completely killed it for me. fishing could use a skill like the other gatherers to increase hq rate.
The true issue with Steps isn't that it's "hard" (It's easy as shit), it's that everything before it is just so ungodly easy. There wouldn't be any issues with it if the game gradually taught people how to play far earlier, in particular with the solo instances. Instead the story fights are faceroll faceroll faceroll faceroll faceroll faceroll faceroll MECHANICS TIME! and people just have no idea wtf they're supposed to to do break 150 DPS in their i130s, let alone how to click a cannon or dodge painfully obvious 10 second cast aoes.
I would love something like a FFXIV version of WoWs Proving Grounds, where you need to demonstrate a certain level of class mastery before being allowed to do higher tiers of content. Can't pass the trial? Too fucking bad, practice and learn or don't do the harder stuff.
i'm not there yet, maybe in a few months(I care more about my crafts..) but is it feasible for one person to control the cannons? Cause I may just delegate myself to that. Sounds like something I would do well in.
It's kind of like in Haukke manor(NM) with the boss, and me trying to turn off all lamps because people either don't know about them, or they attempt to dps through it, which is kind of impossible due to the lamps spawning buddies on the third phase. Sometimes I can't do it though.
Been farming T13 since the first week in January plus an easy 30-40 clears since FCoB was opened up. I have never seen the sword drop.............
And now they're just gonna make it faceroll like everything before it. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...30#post2950930
I've been farming since the third week of December. We've only seen one fucking pair of Sarouels and one Armor of Fending (lost to the DF server shitting itself and D/Cing us as soon as the chest was opened...). I really hope they do Relic armor, because fuck this noise in the future. lol I'd rather just min-max with some fucking melded upgradeable armor set as I grinded out the weapon.
I love Qarn but I hate AV (and DD to an extent because of trauma)... I still don't run either one tbh.
Say what you will about newer dungeons having a billion enforced roadblocks, I still feel most early dungeons (Tamtara and Totorak most of all) are about 8 pulls too long. And god help you if you're with one of those groups that wants to clear the whole open water room in Brayflox.
Totorak feels long due to that goo near the end
It all depends on how many people need XP. I get ticked when I queue as a DPS class for a dungeon and have a tank that skips every pull in Brayflox (Normal) when 3/4th of a party (Including him) could use the XP to level.
Personally, if you queue up for a low level roulette as your level50 tank job you should prepare for the worst. Because while you might want some easy solderity, others have been waiting 30+ minutes in a queue for some damned XP.
Edit: Also too long because of the lack of trash with all that goo.
Even from the perspective of wanting EXP I can't really understand wanting to clear entire rooms of trash. It's not me personally running the dungeons (I haven't done low levels for like 6 months besides atma books). I just feel that most of these dungeons, given your available abilities, could have 50% of the trash pulls taken out and not considerably suffer.
Maybe I'm severely overestimating how abundant EXP is these days, but personally if I'm in for LLR (or even just a first time clear), I'd want to get in and get out and move on.
Maybe I'm biased though. I came into ARR with all combat classes at 50 so I had everything exp-wise going to ACN. But from my time leveling NIN (and before that, a couple alts), I don't feel the extra time/pulls are worth it. To me, I guess.
And we really need to get that chest with like, a Potion and maybe an Ether.
