Gain a point, lose a point.
NIN skills aren't magically different from other WSs, you still get animation cancelling because of mobs moving, they just don't have any particularly long WS animations like Halone or BB.
NIN skills do have long ass animations, some of them just as long as BB and Halone. But since damage is applied at the very beginning of the animation, animation cancelling doesn't happen as often.
Pretty sure you always get the thermionic beam icon before you get lasered, unless if you're lagging horribly.
Not always. That system (icon targeting) gets wonky as hell lag or no lag, it's a graphical bug like with the glyphs in T9 vanishing or the chaos icon not showing up in ramuh while you have a tether. Sometimes he'll tether you without the icon showing up so you start taking stacks and not have enough time to react.
It's kind of how enemies that teleport or "jump" goes invisible, most famously Garuda.
Apparently I'm a shitty off-tank? Augmented Magitek Axe, full Augmented left side, Dreadwyrm choker and Irornworks ring of Slaying, still pulling 220 DPS on T12. Idk how to fix myself.![]()
I don't know about WAR but if you have defiance on I think that's good?
What I love is when a mob moves out of range as I'm using something that would normally move me anyways, such as Spineshatter Dive. It can be used from 20 yards away but if the boss moves out of melee range right as I use it sometimes it's just like "lolnope" and does nothing.
The worst is tossing out a firestarter proc at like 1 sec left and you get the full animation and gcd reset but no damage resolves and you end up losing astral too fml. Also when you try to squeeze in a Bliz III on a boss like Imdagud that goes invincible, if you mis time it you spend the mp, get no damage, and it neither keeps you in astral or puts you in umbral...
Benchmark numbers can vary a lot depending on how you do p3+4.
How high is your dps going into adds phase?
We usually did (do) p3-4 slow and steady with me (offtank war) soaking the first 4 stacks of fountain (so I'm sometimes out of melee range for a while if our MT dont wanna risk revelation splash). We also caster LBed the bennus which meant I often had to stop hitting not to kill the small ones out of order.
If you do it similarly, then I suppose 220 is acceptable with your gear. If you use a more aggressive strategy you should probably be a bit higher.
Have been doing Keeper for poetics every so often when it comes up and that 2nd boss moves so much that when I'm on BLM my spells get canceled almost all the time. >______>
I have a /facetarget macro hotbar-d for that. Something I learned from the PVP thread some time ago.
