I would love if they make some kind of dynamis, salvage, nyzul, or Delve in FFXIV. Not just the content but also the battlesystem, and get rid of those circle arenas for a while.

Yoshi said it would be hard to balance battles around unique arenas, which is why at best we'll get Square arenas..or numerous circle arenas. Look at Turn 1, First Coil,. They had something going.
And turn 5 took place on Baha's enormous outstretched hand.
I don't think anything that came after managed to top that tbh, or even came close.
^ Anything that ask us to work as a FC/LS, screw the 8 man setup I would like to go in a raid with 60 people to farm currencies & artifact armors like in the good ol time. FFXI was good because it gave us diversity in the way we could gear up, it wasn't "Go farm the new tome at 350/450 per week" bullshit. If you liked low party number you had Nyzul & if you liked bigger you had stuff to do too.
FFXIV need content that gather us and make us work as big groups too, giving us only the option of 8 men parties is not healthy.
Heavensward as the first expansion for a game that literally rose from the dead might not have been the smartest place to start experimenting on the players though. I think it's good for what it is and what it's trying to do, which is to flesh out the world and add some new story/item/job development. I fully expect experimentation with battle systems etc. after SE feels ARR has "proved itself" enough to keep a stable playerbase. This wasn't the time to do it though (better to play it safe and make it as solid as possible) and I'm okay with that.
If we CONTINUE to not get anything super novel and different, then I might have some serious gripes.
(Tbh right now I'm just happy flying around giant beautiful zones on my fucking magical majestic griffin)
Shield swipe needs to be off the goddamn GCD. 0 chance to use it in any meaningful fashion at this point.
Quite honestly 1.23 was great but not much they could do with the engine choice SE went with originally to try to cut corners. So while HW didnt feel like an expansion in a sense, it was fine for what it was (a patch), but I really hoped they moved onto trying new things since he said "some things will work some won't, we're experimenting, ARR was playing it safe." I Just want some evolution but I'm biased from XI. Even when shit didn't work in XI they at least tried new things and being creative.
Like, in Zilart we had the Avatar fights, Dynamis, extension of BCNM/KSNM fights and Sky. In CoP they didn't dump Avatar fights, BCNM/KSNM, Dynamis and Sky on us in the sense they just rehashed it. Sea was quite different from Sky, ENMs were slightly different format from BCNM/KSNM and CoP Dynamis even was different. So it kind of feels they blew all of their creative load with XI in its 13 years and has nothing left for XIV lol.
While I'm sure 3.1 and so on will introduce things, Yoshi already went on record to say 4.0 (next expansion) won't be anywhere near as big as 3.0 and that worries me kind of because unless the smaller scale expansion brings major gameplay changes...I think yoshi is too comfortable with the people who eat up the same recycled shit and says its nirvana.
Not saying you do, but it seems people are a bit too complacent with the current route of XIV and don't want them to do anything new and yoshi seems to agree.
And those people he listen to are the vast majority on the official forums. If yall don't want this game to go in a certain direction, you need to swarm that board, but I'm afraid there is simply not enough of you versus those idiots there.
I cringe every time he utters that word, and it's beginning to really feel like the right reaction.
Maybe "balance" needs to join Tanaka in exile again, and we can maybe try new and fun things for a change. Maybe we can have multiple such things being relevant at the same period of time.
Personally, I'll be amazed if he toss a pillar in one of the battle arenas.
Posting in a thread of a game I don't play anymore!
But honestly I'm not surprised reading this. I stopped after coil 2 because life, and came back for a bit like 5 months later to nothing having changed except derps now had 20-30 ilvls on me. Did some stuff in PF and would be one of the only DPS not dead in say, Odin, when I was at the minimum ilvl to even enter because moving left or right iz hard. I quit again pretty quick and said I'd see how HW reviews are knowing that it'd be black or white. They'd either shake things up or not.
Everything I've read says 2 years from now people will be rolling in cirlce arenas at ilvl 300 and 60k HP farming sisyphus tomes in an act of ultimate irony.
It's a beautiful game, it really is, was really hoping HW would give me something to come back to but fuck. Not doing fates/CT/coil reskinned and repacked with a flying mount for a bow. Fuck that noise.
If you really want a good laugh:
The amount of EXP given by FATEs level 51+ goes down as the TNLs balloon absurdly.
So that's one thing that changed; no one does FATEs anymore!
It's actually kind of sad how little activity there is in a lot of the new zones, with all of the FATEs just perpetually timing out at 0% progress.
They posted something on the official blog saying they're going to adjust the rewards for fates in new areas in the near future. So there's that, at least.
Well, at least one thing didn't change: the game is beautiful and still is, ignoring the dogshit we're told is content, has the makings of a fun time. That said, it is very disappointing in how nothing that needed to change actually did (one night a week endgame, literally no fucking content besides that one thing bi-annually, etc).
Of course the vaunted dev team managed to really fucking bungle things with BRD (I literally don't understand how they thought a job with so many oGCD procs would function with Wanderer's in any of it's forms they've tried so far..) and MCH. DRK is a nigh-unplayable mess that offers nothing against PLD and WAR. MNK has emerged the most tedious way to get Carpal tunnel. So essentially nearly nothing we asked for, and a surprising amount of downright retarded shit we didn't want. Also the vertical progression model seems to suddenly be catching up to a lot of people who thought it was great, in a way that leaves them angry about their DoH and DoL gear being utterly trash in the face of NQ garbage before 60.
At least Ravana Extreme was really cool and fun, I guess. Too bad Bismarck is literally shit, and by far one of the lowest points of the storyline and Primals (of any difficulty) in general. The storyline behind Alexander seems really terrible too, lacking any of the trappings of Coil and Bahamut.
kinda goes to show you how fucked everything is.
one of the main components of leveling which almost everyone detests but they pretty much force you to do anyway, they can't even do right. so you're forced to go back to the same fucking fates you were doing over a year ago to level up in their brand shiny new expansion. and now that people have mostly done their quests every single zone is a ghost town.
it's unreal how these devs can get so few things right.
this is part of what boggles my mind. it's like these morons don't even play their own fucking game. how can they not see how some of these jobs are so warped? dark knight is a complete mess. and from all i've heard brd has been completely screwed and mch lacking. and that's just some of the current shit. old issues like tanks and TP costs, custom UI's, basic fucking things we have been asking for for what'll be close to two years now, is still shit. i was extremely hopeful the expansion would not only offer new gameplay and new types of content, but even if the new shit was just 5 hours long, i would have been ecstatic if they handled all the things they needed to since the game began.
not the case, unfortunately and i am highly fucking skeptical the devs are going to, let alone even understand the flaws this game has.
