It's been an issue ever since 2.0 and SE seems willing to ignore it. Either they want people to pay more money and get the standard subscription for alt grinding (which I won't recommend. I would've back in 2.0 but now that the MSQ line is so long it's more trouble than it's worth), or this is a design philosophy they're going for. As a person who would like to switch between Tank, Healer, and DPS as the situation calls for, it's pretty bogus.

If Alex Savage gets completed within three days I hope a severe amount of complaints are sent to SE because HW's endgame and progression has been dogshit.

Because I have to do the same thing again and the grind is not appealing

XIV HW: Dungeon Crawler, single player.
These people (SE) couldn't come up with anything new? They're paid to make the game fun.. Let that settle in for a bit... they are PAID to think about how the game can be improved and become more fun.

HW as an RPG was epic. One of the most entertaining FF plots I've experienced in a long time. A great come back from the dog shit FF titles they've been pumping out since 2003.*excluding FFXI*
Having said that, this is an MMO, and this company has demonstrated it can hold one's attention and addiction previously with XI.

All the content they released in HW, including the areas, will never be explored or visited ever again. Unless you fate grind.
We didn't even get any new job traits.
Crafting is still useless unless you're a cook.
Its still a dungeon crawler, grind, single player game.

Look at Golden Saucer - what a waste of resources and time. It's a zone, with NOTHING to do. And they marketed it like it was going to be something to "look forward to".

Also, they once again, completly missed the ball when it comes to PVP. More conditions and less freedom to just go and have fun. You gotta que. And if you have friends who want to que as well, they need to be in the same grand company. just wtf SE?
This is coming from the same developer (Casualshida) who said he wouldn't place a support job category on the DF because he didn't want it causing delays and complications... so then why can't he get it when it comes to PVP? dude, make a few areas where anything goes. Allow duels to be initiated. Less restrictions and more freedom. Gated gated gated this game feels like a prison or nursery sometimes.

The worst thing is THEY KNOW THIS. Why else would they resort to weekly caps? Because they know they released enough content for about a month's worth of enjoyment and that's not going to be enough subscription revenue to get their fat cat CEO a 8 digit bonus!

I say again what i said several pages ago: The expansion to me is dissapointing in the sense that nothing really new was added, everything is the same as in 2.0. They didnt even bother to come up with a new system then fates (FFXI had in every expansion at least some new system involved: besieged, campagin, colonization etc.).
I was hopeing alexander would break the cicle a bit with a "Nyzul Isle" esque dungeon style that has random bosses from trials and other dungeons etc.

How cool would a Nyzul Style event be? For serious, they have a lot of memorable bosses that are left to obscurity because of how dungeons work in XIV, balance them to 60, add a Climb-system with random bosses (Could even be like a Boss rush), where each fight is in succession and the only limit would be how far you could get until you die. Rewarding you with more gear/items/etc the further you progress. Don't put it in duty finder, force people to actually make friends instead of queuing for people they'll shit on for being scrub!

Add a leader board for FC's/Groups to compete and flaunt their E-peen, add difficulty levels which reward you with I.lv gear based on the difficulty (I.E a Normal/Hard/Extreme/Savage mode with increasing reward tiers as you progress).

I talked about this on the official forums and its not that the events in XIV are bad, they're quite well designed and a lot of work seems to go into making the environments look interesting and unique from eachother... they just have criminally low-to-no replay value because its completely static content, and this becomes a huge problem when its ALL you'll be doing day in and day out to farm your token-currency for upgrades and such. I did make a suggestion on the OF on how they could at least increase the replay value of dungeons, the biggest offenders to this all:

*-Add Multiple pathways, with different bosses each path. Perhaps 3-4 per dungeon, chosen at random when you enter the dungeon via Duty-Finder/Roulette as to prevent the "Go quickest route" runs. Its random unless you pre-make a group either via Party Finder or friends,, then you can chose when entering (like undersized parties). Guild Wars 2 does this with their dungeons (though you can chose them, each has a daily reward so people do them all).
*-Mix up the mob groups that spawn for each path. Maybe have a handful of possibilities each path with the general difficulty remaining the same.
*-Perhaps add "Mini-Bosses" with unique names that sometimes spawn in place of a normal mob pack, they don't need fancy smancy mechanics, just bigger/meatier version of the area mobs. These bosses would then drop a chest possibly containing a dungeon armor, or some (Unique dyes), even a chance at the dungeon exclusive minion, so forth. A rare sight that makes people excited.
*-Some people like puzzles, maybe one of the paths could have fewer enemies but with puzzles to solve to progress. I know this works better in single player games, but It'd be nice instead of just picking up X item and placing it in Y slot.
*-Spice up boss fights. They don't all need to be Square/Circle dodge mechanics. Something like Steps of Faith/A2 where some people are constantly doing a certain mechanic while others fight the boss... though maybe a little simpler for the sake of it being a dungeon and not a raid. Given time I could imagine some fights but on the spot, no. And that doesn't mean I can't think of any, SE has months of time to design fights... give me 2 months and I think I can design a couple dungeons as well...
I'd rather have to chose between 1 dungeons with multiple branching paths(outline above), semi-random/dynamic mob placement, Possible-Mini boss spawns, possible interesting puzzle mechanics and boss fights than don't consist of a bit circle/square jump-rope games... than have 3 mediocre one-off dungeons with static everything and no replay value past the first run through that we just keep getting each patch. But I guess some people like that they can run most dungeons blindfolded... Which I guess is okay, its just not for me.

Everyone that transfered over from WoW with me being slow to hit level cap is sorta like content! Hence, I'm not in a rush to start getting everything done. I think part of what's an issue is what you said: it's dungeon crawls to the walls. Why not revamp gold saucer systems so you can work on your weekly cap for some of those currencies doing side games instead of just running the same dungeon six hundred times?

Also I think they are too conservative with how dungeons are set up to be pull, dps, heal, repeat. The trash before midgarsomor you could drag mobs into the gunship's fire and finish them off faster, the vines in manor hard too hurt enemies standing under them... and I was hoping we'd see some more creative use of dungeons where there were things you could do once you knew the place inside out that would let you speed run them faster, but aside from a few mobs you can skip it seems this isn't the case. Things like mobs getting hurt by traps, using aoe to damage weak pillars to collapse the ceiling on packs... Or even if the dungeons we ran had more environmental hazards to make it feel less like colored hallways.

Also add more housing plots ffs.

It's sad to say but there desperately needs to be some imagination injected into the game.
And not just in armor design and creatively localized names, but in actual content.

    Heavensward "content":
Rehashed capture the flag-type pvp? check
Endless dungeon or fate grind for levels? check
Gear that takes so long to get due to weekly caps it'll be outdated by the time you get 2 sets? check

Now I will say one thing, they did do Alex a little differently. Any idiot could get through CT purely by accident or be carried through by the rest of the alliance. With Alex NM you have to try a little harder and be a little better, at least for now. So Alex NM did add that raid story mode / medium level content that a lot of people have been asking for. (too bad it's essentially a grindy lot-war for gear they made effectively outdated by adding esoterics and savage 2 weeks later).

I don't like having to settle for mediocrity on all but my main because I'm not ALLOWED to gear my jobs the best I can. Or maybe I'm just extra angry today.

It's okay, just wait for 3.2 when the new tomestone is out. Then we can all complain about that. Rinse and repeat.

Completely agree, Ishgard could have been a good place to start a Besieged style event, with Dragons coming to attack the city while we try to defend it, colonisation could be added in parallel with Fates assuming they wouldn't derp that, Hunt > ZNM, Alexander should have been a Nyzul flavored run too. Funnily enough there was so many ppl defending SE pre HW, I wonder where they are now.

As for the copy/pasted from 2.0, i'm worried about the upcoming relics, Materias melding shit relics, look forward to it!

    Is Bear also driving?

But in all seriousness, I think it'd be cool to have branching paths in dungeons.

I really like the environments in HW; and heck, while hunts aren't the greatest (the daily ones), I do like that it gives me a reason to explore zones.

doing my high level roulette, get qarn, warr tank in str acc. not in defiance, think ok cool fast run. first trash pull after i bane my dots and drop shadowflare i start pulling aggro on mobs. tank says "yall dps need to to learn how to dps" and leaves, then the healer leaves, and then the other dps leave.

wtf i just want my tomes in a reasonable amount of time. glad i sat in that DF queue for a trash pull.

I wouldnt even have minded if they kept everything as it is now, but added at least one new element. For gods sake they introduced flying mounts. How about... you know Fights on your mount!? Fighting from your mount from atop in the zones. Bismarck could have been an interesting flying mount fight but no its a circular area again. All the sudden you added a 3D element to fights. Not saying every fight should have been that way, but they also could have added special attacks to flying mounts. Like Midgardsommer giving you access to a dragon breath on a timer, your chocobo companion haveing access to a special job related flying mount ability depending on the job you are on right now etc etc. This are just ideas, it just sad that really nothign new was put out

Feel kinda dejected about my jobs right now.

BRD was my main but now the DPS is underwhelming and the playstyle sucks. My static wanted me to switch to tank anyway so I leveled PLD up which was my secondary before. Now it seems that WAR and DRK are both more desirable than PLD in most peoples eyes as they want offense rather than defense and PLD languishes behind them there. I realize PLD isn't bad, just that its strengths aren't wanted as much as WAR and DRK right now (I guess WAR more than DRK)

I'm not sure I have the will to grind another job to 60 and it's doubly annoying as it's not like I can share Esto gear across tanks.

If you aren't doing Savage then PLD will look underwhelming because its defense isn't needed. Fact of life in every game ever made.

    More Power = Faster Kills.
    More Defense = ...?

The fact that SE had FFXI and FFXIV 1.0 as experience for Full Defense tanks being undesirable makes it even more disappointing they haven't learned from this, but as long as DF exists they likely won't care.
