FFXIV Random Complaint Thread II: DPS can't count to potato

Tank is one of the most simple roles but positioning and understanding mob behavior is absolutely important to doing it correctly and something a fair portion of (if this is even really a thing) bandwagon tanks don't understand.

I mean for fucks sake, Yeti boss in snowcloak is too fucking hard to position for tanks. I ain't trusting some random tank to pick up adds correctly or tank swap correctly. With so many idiots on OF and reddit giving the absolute wrong ways to do these.

I'm not gonna generalize and say "X class doesn't understand Y class's struggles", but you need to play it yourself to really appreciate how bad some people can be.

Basically all this. Since I am trying to work on Ninja books and just generally practice the job in roulettes, I've had to suffer with tanks that are absolutely fucking terrible. Half the time I get another FC member or two to come along on healer or dps and then I end up feeling bad I didn't go on tank.

Princess shit tanks in guildhests. Get so offended when I just run and attack level 15 mobs, stand there and lecture me about it then refuse to do anything the rest of the run.

To be fair, Guildhests are about teaching you how to do your job, and you're kinda not letting him do that.

I mean, to an extent I can totally go along with "quit taking so long in MY DUNGEON" and all, but if you're trying to hurry along a guildhest, what are you even doing there to begin with?

Cutters Cry, had to get up for literally 2 minutes so I said "brb" 2-3 pulls before first boss (guess I died to bombs while I was afk). I got back and I was kicked without a word. I'd have been more pissed if this was my low roulette, but fucking seriously.

The Turn 7 nerf apparently wasn't enough, becuse seemingly most groups I join/put together can't clear it without wiping.

Any group not marked as "farm" in PF (or just DF groups in general) are likely to wipe unless you take in multiple people who have cleared or at least have experience. People who are actually good at the game can joke about how easy they are but there's a very good reason SE nerfed them, and it is because people are fucking idiots. I've joined a couple of farm groups that still struggle with shit, pretty much every damn T7 farm I've joined has misfired shrieks, voices on the boss and other players, etc.

Back when first coil unlocked and went to the DF, we tried to get a few FC mates through a couple turns for loot, funsies, just to see it etc. Most of them were ok, and things went smoothly except for one guy. One guy in particular was that type where you just have to sit and scratch your head, wondering who ties their shoes and if the helmet makes it hard to play.

Basically, he was supposed to be one of our silencers for ADS and missed every single one. Upon some discussions, it's not that his reaction time was slow. It was that he didn't know where the mobs cast bar was. He made it to coil and didn't know mobs had a cast bar. Whatever, time to learn him some knowledge. So a FC mate has him come to the house to target him and watch for the bar as he cures himself. Cures go off, "Did you see it?" "no". Tries again. "See it this time?" "no". So cure after cure, and the guy still doesn't see the bar. Finally, we target the guy and lo and behold he's targetting the fucking summoning bell. It took another 5 minutes or so to get him to target the right guy, and he tries the cures again. "Do you see the cast bar?" "no". He's back on the summoning bell, and never again did I enter a single instance with the guy.

Oh, even the "farm" groups tend to get one or two people who are terrible. And that's all you need to bring a run down. WHM body finally dropped, and I rolled a 97.

Can rewatch it at the inn though. Weird quirk with the video is that it'll use the current audio device, rather than whatever XIV booted up using, which meant that sweet sauce played out over my headset. :/
