The past few EX Roulettes I've done, it makes me feel like Heavenward made people forget how to AoE.
Three packs? Better single target them all down.

This, seriously, I started noticing it a week or two ago, holy mother of frustration... when with other melee, I have started singing paeon for myself to keep going, while they poke one mob at the time after the tank did doubles +. I can't believe how some of these people picked up all that prototype gear, then proceed to get completely and utterly trashed by a filthy casual who barely stepped inside normal alex.

Seen that a lot lvling my DRG lately in Vault as well, and it's annoying on DRG because Doom Spike is great AoE dps (assuming the tank knows how to position mobs and not constantly shuffle them about), but not enough to take out a pack alone without blowing all of my TP+Invig, leaving me useless for the next pack.

You can also just pull everything as well. Pull both rooms before the first boss. Pull all the rooms before the 2nd boss. Due to the jumps and locks before jumps, the pulls before the last boss are probably the only thing that will slow you down for Fract.

I think the fastest Fract run I have had was within 11 mins to maybe 12 minutes......in a DF party non the less, I know...I too was shocked, I think it was a premade 3 though as I know 2 of them were really happy that they beat their neverRIP completion time.

What's with people totally ignoring the Totems in Neverreap's second boss? Is it generally accepted that they can DD the boss down fast enough that they don't need to bother with them and I missed the memo? I had a party last night wipe (holy shit, I didn't know it was possible) there because I, as healer, was the only person even attempting to move them. Then finally I couldn't keep up and no fewer than 6 mobs spawned in one circle and people were still focused on the boss.

I had something similar happen tonight, but at least the tank helped move them too so we only had 2 extras. Just bad luck, or is this the new thing now that we have high iLevel?

That's because I don't find any of it particularly difficult lol, and my style is explaining everything briefly because there's no need for it to be more complicated than it should be. All 3 bosses can be damaged consistently with no stoppage. In a high DPS group that makes for very very quick kills.

A slip up or low DPS in any of the Neverreap bosses extends the phase rotation considerably.

Also besides maybe the intial 5 GCDs into a boss fight or mass pulls, I do not tank with any of the tank stances anymore on all 3 jobs.

edit: to clarify, no tank stance/str gear and maybe I make my fair share of DPS to consider Fractal bosses a bit easier/faster. In Neverreap due to pauses I am unable assist in shortening fights as much, so the difference is severely noticable in low DPS groups in Neverreap.

I'm not sure how any DPS can like Neverreap over Fractal, just seems crazy. As a healer I don't really give a shit though.

Buy 80 Tier III Crit Materia, all of them fail.

Buy 50 Tier III DET Materia, the first two succeed.

I just don't know, guess it is to each their tastes. I'm just confused when I see people tell me that the boss 2 of NVRP is slower than Fractal. O.o NVRP boss 2 is just a rock.

As The Stig said, it does happen often in the DF, most of the time I end up stopping to tank/DPSing too cause the DPS just focus on the boss, which is annoying, ignoring the adds when we couldn't take care of all of them.

i prefer fractal, these days (used to be other way 'round because last boss in fractal was hard at <i150). Last bosses for both are annoying as healer, but fractal's isn't too annoying if people don't set off landmines, so that puts it ahead already. Second bosses are both cake, but I can compensate pretty easily for DPS being stupid in fractal. Not so much in neverreap. I once had 8 totems spawn and eat me. First bosses are both stupid easy and I spend most of my time DPSing. Trash pulls, neverreap has tornadoes and bees, fractal has large swarms. i can handle large swarms; i can't handle 2 final stings.
No but they try and interrupt each each and still waste time

I don't see how doing drawn out mechanics(Neverreap) vs not doing drawn out mechanics(Fract) is confusing.

Fract's boss can be DPS'd 100% of the time. Neverreap's cannot, unless you want to burn through 8+ totems by the time you're done.

I broke down the mechanics in one of my previous post, I agree for some of your points, but saying they can all be DPS'd 100% of the time? When Minautor can knock you back & all which result in a general DPS loss, I disagree here

you can avoid the Minotaur charge attack completely and even if you don't, it's much less downtime than having to pick up up totems

Ranged actually are capable of having 100% dps. I suppose if you want to be nitpicky, the melee only has ~98% dps upkeep while the boss flies around like a douchebag. Either way, I don't know why you're emphasizing that the boss moves around when that only matters for one point of the fight, and it's negligible in comparison to Neverreap's second boss where the dps loss is generally a noticeable chunk.

You can break Minotaur's phase shifts by simplying opening up a pod in advance. I do that all the time, this seems to confuse the DPS as they don't DPS the add lol, but at the same time I found the buff granted to Minotaur after eating the add to be negligible.

Don't do it if your DPS is piss poor of course as you'll need it to interrupt his room wide AoE.

As tank/healer (and also DPS when I get a DPS job up) I stand in the 100-tonze swing. It cannot one shot you if you're topped up, and there's plenty of room for the healer to heal me based on their instinctive behaviour, unless they choose to be a dick and moan "WHY DIDN'T YOU DODGE. NOT HEALING YOU FOR THAT" but screw him.

I think as it stands there's a small difference of playstyles here, hence the misunderstandings. I'm all about unorthodox.

Leveling BLM and having to re-learn 4 different MP breakpoints every. fucking. level.

(single target/AoE with/without PIE bonus, even more if you add on F3 opener/Sharp-F1 opener)

A lot of people have the mentality that once your ilvl is high enough you can just ignore all mechanics. For many mechanics that's true but most people are lazy and just go with the "someone else will do it" approach.

This is why I loved sitting back and watching the endless parade of death in Crystal Tower trio when that weekly quest was relevant.

    Aurum Vale.

Coincounter. ← Yes you need not to read further than that, but:

Tank dies because tank was stupid.

Now I'm kiting the boss to give AST time to get the tank back up.

    Tank instead releases.

Now I'm tanking in all my shitty DEF glory.

Tank says Bye :D and drops.

    All leave.

Been doing this since Halitali HM.

It's nonfatal and easy to medicate with SW and bloodbath. Bonus points if you dodge/parry with melee abilities. Healers ain't gotta do shit for you.
