FFXIV Random Complaint Thread II: DPS can't count to potato

I swear to god queuing A1N as a Healer or Tank is just asking for fate to decide whether or not A1N is a wipe.

For Tanks, that's pretty much an issue for any content. A big reason why I prefer going as healer or dps for trials or Alex Normal unless it's A4N, in which case I strongly prefer being a tank because I can actually carry bad parties (and stun the fucking leg).

A4N last night the OT WAR finished at 314 DPS, he was i180 ish. SE was almost never up.

If the WAR is soloing orbs, I'm 100% okay with him doing zero dps. When I'm on dps, I see more wipes from both healers dying (usually Nisi+orb) than anything else.

Just to complete the circle though, on War(OT) we usually wipe because, as I exit quarantine, multiple people are dead.

As healer, we dont USUALLY wipe. The times I remember, the tank got 3shot by the 5-hit attack and then 2 more people die. Another time we wiped because the 2 people in quarantine died.

Only time I seen someone die up there with me as OT is when the BLM decided to double flare the thing before I even got 1 combo off. It's a single mob..you don't need to double flare it.

I realize when I queue dps instead of healer in Alex that I'm leaving my fate up to two healers who might suck balls. I almost always go healer, and yes there is sometimes run-carrying involved. I've gotten pretty used to working overly hard on heals to compensate for dps who like to stand in shit or other healers who don't know what the fuck they're doing. But sometimes runs just can't be saved because the party chemistry is too bad or the dps are just plain too lazy, and I mostly find that in A4. I almost never have troubles in A1 so I'm surprised to see so many stories of bads there. The only A1 I remember wiping anytime recently was a DF with a bunch of people from my server...ha. A4 is the bane of my existence and it's usually crystal clear before the fight even starts whether it's going to be a wipe or a clear.

Had a level 60 Gladiator in A1 yesterday wtf! He held the boss ok, but 100 dps ugh. What is sad is that group wasn't even surprised it was just like, "ok another baddie to carry lets move on"

Might've been the level 60 GLA on my server. He actually pulled up Party Finder for Savage. He stated he didn't do job quests because they were too hard.

Indeed, but in comparison being actual party fights (especially last ones) I could see it being a case for being hard for some ARR players since they found using an antidote during one of the first story quests (15 I think?) too hard and rather have SE nerf it.

That fight was fun as hell. I admit wiping to that so many times before thinking 'this poison hurts, should use an antidote i got in a quest earlier' then felt proud of myself.

well even 2.x i suspect GLA might have been a decent DPS (relative to pld). dem cross class buffs. but... it woulda been a narrow thing, and with all the 3.0 abilities being Job and not Class... lol. What little life classes had has been thoroughly butchered.

No amount of cross class buffs would make up for Sword Oath.

Only time I could think of a class being applicable was Marauder in PvP. Or going as class instead of job while fate grinding so you could sit there spamming flash on your doesntgetflashnatively job of choice, which is stretching it.
