FFXIV Random Complaint Thread II: DPS can't count to potato

Turned off my sub yesterday.

Awhile back, I said my only reason for staying on the game was for my FC and being a raid leader, but obviously this has changed. I've been sick with a sore throat that persisted through half of last week. On raid day I almost slept past our raid event, but forced myself awake, dragged my ass to the computer, logged in.

-WHM was too tired to log in.
-SCH was out drinking.
-NIN didn't show up without explanation.
-DRG didn't show up without explanation.
-WAR was online, but then his internet died and never came back on (I'm okay with this).

Had to replace all of them either with interested FC members or with Party Finder. Only myself, a BLM, and a BRD were actually static members so our former progress was pretty much gone. Couldn't get past Faust, people gave up after about four attempts. Took me an hour to form a group, only raided for 30 minutes.

I've been stuck on AS1 for 2 months because Hyperion is dogshit and I can never find a group with the skill to clear it. Tried leading my own static to fix that problem. Only lead to me raiding once per week and people can't even commit to that. Truly ridiculous.

I'm out of fucks to give. SE really screwed up with this content drought and my server being bad doesn't help at all. Unless 3.1 is the miracle update and gives PLD Fell Cleave, I probably won't even come back for that patch either. Even 3.2 is a maybe since I know it'll be the same shit as before. I suppose the only bright side to this is I have a ton of projects IRL to grind through, so freeing up my saturdays is very helpful for that.

The only thing that was hard about Fenrir in XI was that he'd chew through a tank quickly, and his 2hr would either one-shot the whole group or do no damage at all, for reasons. That and the 15 minute trek back to that BCNM entrance if there's a full wipe with no RR.


I don't get why they don't recycle unique dungeon bosses like him or Diabolos as trial fights though like Chimera/Hydra. 90% of the work is already done, just ramp up the mechanics and throw in some shit that doesn't need new animations.

Probably because the interns developing XI's content would do a better job than the professional 1 person doing XIV's content and they'd actually have to dip into their funds to pay people. I mean, the Fenrir "hard mode" fight they recently added was pretty fun. Yeah, Fenrir was hit or miss (as said) but it's miles better than the wasted Fenrir in XIV. Shiva's guardian and a mount earned through Gold Saucer? Ok. Also they're too busy making Pharos Sirius Hard Mode, that nobody asked for since most people asked for Pharos Sirius normal to be nerfed into the ground.

Channeling Rocl here but Snowcloak Fenrir and mount Fenrir aren't even -the- Fenrir. It's a hoarhound (or whatever the icedogs are called) named after the famous wolf. I believe the mount's description page addresses this but of course you have to literally have a million MGP or google to know this so literally nobody knows/cares.

Of course at the point that I/SE needed to make a lore excuse for this it long since stopped mattering, not like they're going to add a real Fenrir after it right?

It is a lore excuse, much like the excuse used for Diabolos and how he'll return (probably Lost City Hard Mode.) I'm still waiting to see what they do with Omega and Shinryu, since they kind of go hand in hand as an accepted canon.

Yeah 3.1 or 3.2 comes around I would get out of that shit server and go to a high pop one look for a decent raid group. At least with 3.2 gear- raiding progress won't feel so brutal. My group is feeling that casual burn, Alex Savage just turn you out lol.

The amount of good players are so small that if you miss the first month of clear group, you're pretty much playing the lottery if you're using PUGs.

I've personally beaten Faust. Seen enraged Oppressor.

SE is only mentioned in my post because the only content with substance is Savage, which is bad. The rest of my post is about how my server is so bad this cannot be done.

I could transfer servers but I don't care anymore. Too far behind at this point to climb the ladder when I can be doing other things.

Never did I say anywhere that I was mad at SE for Savage being too hard.

If you seen any of my complaint posts here you'd see I complain a great deal about having to hope that my group is good enough to clear content. This isn't just with Savage but also with Ex Primals. Being a raid leader didn't change this problem. My static constantly falls apart so it's literally no different from being in a PUG at this point.

I'm assuming being in a hardcore raiding FC gives a different perspective, but I don't have that luxury. It sucks when you know that you are personally good enough to clear content but your group can't, even if they happen to be FC members.

Hyperion is just that bad.
