You're taking the bait.
You're taking the bait.
When your static leader is a manchild who can't read tooltips, we'd rather be at the gym or out with friends drinking a beer that could tank better than him. I like the part where he says the game has a content drought but he isn't good enough to access it.![]()
Maybe he shouldn't tell us to kill ourselves when we're the only real people with actual lives, he's already dead because he didn't pop the cooldown.
That would makes more sense now but then why not say that at the beginning? Also, which cooldown are we talking about now?
That was vague. If he told you to kill yourself you wouldn't use "probably".
I kind of asked "There is more to the story?" and his reply were vague, but now there is more to it with what is above this reply.
Maybe if he wasn't a bad PLD, we would show up.![]()
This guy pulled the RL card and people are still actually arguing with him?
Sons, I am disappoint.
All i gotta say is
Tits or didn't happen
Honestly it sounds to me like he made a half-assed attempt at leading a raid group and now he's just blaming everyone else. I wouldn't say it's entirely his fault, but he needs to own up to the responsibility that comes with that position. Not only is picking the right people important (like Kaiyoko said), if it turns out some members aren't reachable, reliable, competent, etc. you're supposed to deal with it before everything implodes.
In my experience with coaching/helping multiple casual/midcore groups, a static doesn't disband overnight... it's usually a very long buildup of issues that leads to that point. I know it's a lot of work and I really can't blame people for letting so many things slide in that type of statics, but there is a lot more to leading than sending party invites when it's time to raid and bitching because people are late/no shows.
You've made good points, however with regards to what Kaiyoko said;
Its more easily said than done, I would go as far as calling this an utopic situation. Its cool if your XI friends followed you to XIV & such, or if you're playing with your RL g/f & some RL friends, but most of the time recruitment is done via PF (for most people it is anyway..) and it take a little bit of time to screen/evaluate people seriousness and whatnot.
This is fair. It was my first time being a leader for a raid group, so I can accept being called out for poor leadership or party management.
For how long, roughly a month. My FC originally had one group, but there was overflow to make another group. I handled that second group with the interested people. A lot of stuff happened during that month that I tried to salvage, even getting some form of contact so I could be told if something happened, but ultimately it never worked out.
It's pretty easy to see who's a shitter and who isn't. In terms of raw ability a parser and a bit of keen attention will tell you who immediately sucks, for everything else just make a schedule everyone can generally adhere to or a time everyone can generally be up.
There's like 100 apps online that can help organize a group, and yeah sometimes shit just falls apart, but it definitely wasn't a sudden implosion. Most of the time a group is definitely doomed if the leader gives up.
This is the problem. There are other places to look if you're wanting quality players who give a shit. It takes 1 min tops to make a PF.
Anyone serious about raiding or just not wanting a shit group will take the time to actually talk to people before hand. People who just throw together statics are going to have a bad time. Keeping a solid static working requires someone who activily cares in leadership. If the leader starts slacking there is a good chance the static will suffer.
Edit: As far as utopic situation. If the group isn't wasting time and meets the goals that the static is looking to accomplish then your static should last. The problem is the static needs clear defined goals that everyone agrees on. If the leader isn't doing that then they're a shit leader.
Obviously, RL comes up and that's when the leader needs to step in and make proper adjustments or find a new leader if it's the leader's RL.
The problem is that XIV provides leaders with few options for potential adjustments that keep members happy or at least content with a potentially wasted evening. There's no content for raiders to do as a group when they're not at full strength. So, the only options are replace the absent member/shit player and continue on or cancel raid for the day.
I don't envy any static leader in this game because it's a bigger pain in the ass than I've ever seen.
