When on earth is the next major update coming? I haven't logged on in like 4 weeks because my static has had various people missing. It's to the point now where I don't even feel compelled to check any XIV forums (including my LS), nevermind actually log in.
5 weeks til 3.1, they took a 2 months holiday cause apparently restarting the game from 0 was hard work.
Pretty sure 3.1 will include straight up nerfs to things like max boss HP similar to how Twin got nerfed in 2.1 due to incessant bitching by the community. It's funny how people cried about how Bahamut went down in 5 days and content was 2ez, then Alex Savage serves shitters up a big slice of humble pie when they enter A3S and now everyone cries it's too hard or they "fucked up" designing it. I really hope this level of difficulty continues because it's been the biggest challenge we've had and I appreciate that.
Its the real reason we need 3 raid tiers. FCoB was perfect for my group. We raid 1-3 nights a week for 2 hours. We had T10 done first week, T11 done second, T12 done third and T13 took around 8 weeks. That's about perfect progression IMO for a mid tier raid done by a mid tier raid group. Most of 14s raid groups probably had a similar experience to ours which is why that level of difficulty should have a solid place in the game. (Alexander 1-2 went in a similar fashion for us, but we stuck on A3 like most)
The excellent raiders with unlimited time should have their savage level raid with some very nice perks. (dyeable gear, mounts, titles) Stuff that would be cool to have and see but its not like those guys need higher ilvl drops.
Who were these people again?
When people asked for "more difficult content" the vast, vast, vast majority of them were asking for a greater amount of content that wasn't faceroll/afk/DF bullshit, not content that was necessarily harder.
Coil was still "too hard" for the vast majority of the playerbase, these people supposedly complaining about coil being too easy don't really exist.
I still have massive doubts about the HP nerfs that supposedly occurred to T5. I distinctly remember checking the HP with ACT and noticed no change.
Main problem with A3S's difficulty spike is that.. it's a spike. There isn't a whole lot of content in between faceroll and pay attention or die.
Aside from this, I find it ironic that no matter the content, groups on both ends of the skill spectrum use methods to trivialize content.
Except for the part where people all over Reddit, the OF, and I'd bet dollars to donuts on this site as well saw Lucrezia down t13 on Saturday (content released on Tuesday) and instantly proclaimed "wow week 0 clears Ez game Ez lyfe try making hard content next time Yoshi P". It was everywhere and people even made topics specifically calling the developers out on it saying that this game's. Raid scene was a joke compared to wow etc where content takes much longer to go down.
Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't exist.
People called out SE for T9's 4th week clear too. A4S was a 5th week clear and people were losing their shit that it took too long.
Based on the clear rates of final coil months after release these people must have been unicorns.
Are these people the kind of people that think because someone cleared it it's no longer a challenge?
Like if one group beats it it's suddenly, vicariously, on farm for everyone?
I've said it before but personally I have no issues with the difficulty of A3S/A4S in a vacuum, I just don't believe the current tier supports these fights very well. I think if there had been more bosses between A2S and A3S and if you could get weapons/bodies before full clearing the raid like in the older tiers, things would've flowed much better in terms of difficulty jumps and in terms of the amount/type of rewards you get every week.
Either way, many statics that were capable of defeating four bosses in ARR (while complaining that four bosses wasn't enough content) were given half as many bosses to progress on in HW (let's not pretend A1S-A2S/FCOB raiders are A3S raiders) and I do think that was a huge mistake on SE's part.
It'll be interesting to see what (if any) lessons the devs learned this tier. I won't be surprised if the next tier is a lot easier, mirroring the difficulty drop we saw in FCOB after SCOB.
entered the cartography contest and some bitch submits the exact same thing as me like 6 hours later
if she wins and i don't i'm gonna be pissed as fk
