So I had the pleasure of running AK normal with this asshole Aya Huasca. I'll be honest and say I'm new to this whole tanking this and I like trying to be speedy while also staying somewhat safe. (Especially when running something for the first time as a tank.)

Only thing where he is right is the fact it would be a waste of time to dispell Pacification on trash pulls, it sucks for sure but oh well. For the rest he was a little dickhead and sadly as a tank you encounter many of these players. Seeing his LDT profile he might have joined the game recently (or so he's like me and does not care about having all job to 60 but thats not a probability...)

Just don't worry about these people, keep pulling a reasonable amount of packs ensuring you're comfy with it, use your CDs often, use 1-2 flash/1-2 Overpower (what you believe is necessary amount) and start rotating combos accordingly and you will be fine, remember DPS are also supposed to help you by DPSing intelligently, god know its rare tho.

Eh, people like that happen. It was like when I first picked MRD up. I didn't have GLA leveled at all so I had stuff like Shadow Shift, Featherfoot, and Raging Stikes cross classed. Got a group in Sastasha as my first group on a tank ever and had a jackass healer like this. Let me die a couple times, constant bitching about my cross classes, and pretty much anything else you could think of.

I used Berserk against bosses. I won't touch it during trash pulls (Healer's kind of got more important things than making sure I can use 2 GCD skills). Liberal and timed applications of cooldowns, a lot of overpower (Kind of forgot I had flash, but I wasn't hurting for hate). Brrrr, just hate the guy though. Acting like he's god's gifts to the world. YOU'RE A SCHOLAR WE GET IT.

any good healer should be able to tell when a guy is new to tanking. cc skills don't really even matter in that regard because you can just see who is competent and who isn't. when tanks do things that are off kilter i offer advice. if they want to keep being shitty i let them know they're being shit, though. that said there are always some people who love the whole passive-aggressive or just being straight up hostile thing without any attempt at a solution thing. makes you wonder what kind of person they are irl.

anyway, use your berserk all the time, not just for bosses. and overpower > flash except in some rare instances.

^ This, some of your abilities (Steel Cyclone) are unaffected by Defiance malus, thus letting you DPS a bunch when combined with Inner Beast/Berserk on Trash pulls. The Pacification isn't too bad either, you'll get use to healer not dispelling it pretty quickly.

Using Berserk on Trash pulls you will generate a bit more of enmity, deal more damage and generaly it is almost ready for the next pull/boss.

Popping Berserk during a big trash pull while using Overpower is really good as well since it can be pretty annoying to target-swap for enmity sustain.

Berserk + Bloodbath is also a really strong form of mitigation on big trash pulls. Honestly something that holds true for almost every dungeon in the game is that trash packs (assuming you're going big when you can) are almost always scarier than any of the bosses. It's why saving CDs for bosses is almost always a huge no-no, "wasting" stuff like Vengeance and Berserk on trash is better than holding it for a boss.

I wish more tanks realized this. Bosses hit for a fairly fixed amount, and at fixed intervals. I can time my dps/heals such that you're never really in danger no matter what you do for cooldowns. Trash, though... big pulls can very quickly overwhelm the tank if they dont pop cooldowns. there's not much i can do to keep you alive if your entire HP pool drops in less time than it takes to cast a heal. A point I have to make to people far too often in pvp.

Funnily enough for once people read the tooltip and get all "Meh" about it cause its only 25% of damage dealt, they don't figure that it will apply to AoEs for some weird reasons. And yeah, this 25% of damage dealt saved my ass quite often during triple packs and more.

Edit; I just joined a FC full of new players, I have shits like Doctores armors which I don't need, but I can't put it in the FC chest either due to their untradable nature... I'm the only one to think its a fail? Cause cmon.. you wear craps for 3 levels in this game.

So another wonderful tale in my journal of becoming a fell cleavin' warrior. Me and the wife are doing the zodiac questline because she'd like one. There's nothing else to do. Aaaaand, hell, its something to do with her. Win, win, win all around.

So we start off with Skyfire book, knock out a few things and I save Lost City of Ampador as last since its her favorite dungeon. We get into it and our buddies are a WHM (57 in Hallowed gear) and SMN (60 in Law gear). We get protect, stoneskin, and before you know it I'm off collecting everything up to the first mold gate.

We wiped.

I survived somewhere between 90-120 seconds and the entire time I'm wondering why the fuck aren't these things dying. My wife's pulling 300 DPS and bitching how she's losing out on TP. The summoner... 100 by herself.

The fuck!? Oh, she still has 3 aetherflow stacks. 3 AETHERFLOW STACKS. Folks, a summoner who doesn't use bane.

But, fuck it I take the dungeon slower and things start chugging along. But then the white mage starts letting me drop waaaaay low on HP. And it gets to a point where I just have to stop doing anything bigger than one group at a time. We get past the second boss, and on the last pull the WHM doesn't give me a single, fucking, heal.

I didn't know spanish, but thankfully my wife is bilingual. So she tells me what insult I just got, and crafts up an insult just for me to use.

I called him useless, and my wife jumped on him. If you know anything about healer psychology, you wouldn't be surprised when I say the WHM just left his keyboard halfway through the fight and let us wipe. He brings up the fact that we fucked up gates (And to be honest with the baneless summoner I should've just handled it) but this is old content and I've been in plenty of groups where you just flat out fucking ignore that shit.

So I suppose the moral of the lesson is I don't know how you tanks get by the duty finder without a bottle of liquor by your side because fuck. At least when I'm healing I can attempt to salvage a run. Or when I'm DPSing I can make the encounters shorter.

So in short, if you're on cactuar tell that guy to go fuck himself for me. ♥

Don't worry, its a shocker at the beginning but you will get used to it quickly, and to be very honest if you use a parser sometime you & your wife are gonna drool at your number because once you reach Lv52 & 54 you will have good tools to DPS and stance swap. This will let you see how horrible some DPS can be at their job, or how some healers are crazy lazy.

Something you might have seen me do here before, and which you might see me do again is to rant about how I often end up with pant on the head idiots DPS who just don't give a damn and jump on aggroed mobs (aggroed: orange) not pulled, and that kind of thing just tend to infuriate me because I wonder if they do it to make my job more difficult on purpose when its so easy to follow unmend animation with 1 eye closed.

You will get used to it, or the healers who need to put a regen effect on you between pulls which you will have to look for and click down, its a little package you go trougth at the beginning and it will give you reflexes to do it. Don't give up, just try to adapt to these situation cause sadly the mentality isn't ready to change.

Again, all you can do is vote kick them and move on. And if they wont get vote kicked, usually I just drop if its first boss or earlier.

I'll admit to occasionally doing the passive aggressive thing and purposely doing mediocre DPS when I have a tank that pulls extremely slow and a DPS that doesn't know what the fuck is a combo (even better when both are in full left side Eso gear). Shit just makes me not want to put in any effort and carry them when I can just be a shitter and watch Hulu. Usually if I even try, the tank can't keep aggro anyway.

Since I started up healing, it's really annoying when pacification pops up along with another debuff, because esuna is going to remove the most recently applied debuff -.-.
