FFXIV Random Complaint Thread II: DPS can't count to potato

This just makes me want to re-iterate how stupid it is that this game doesn't have proper instanced housing in addition to the wards as a place to dump your house to unscathed if you so happen to take a 45 day break.

Just get to lose the privilege of having neighbours until a new lot is available to transfer it to is all. It'd solve the problem of players wanting their own place but no lots available to deal with it.



Also slowly building a QOL/"Stuff that should be fixed" list in notepad. Contemplating making a thread for it at some point to gather ideas from others and use to catalog how much of it ever does get addressed/added.

Hah, this game can barely handle making duty finder instances in hard core situations. You think it'd be able to manage moving your household and all items to an instanced housing area?

Nope, gotta keep paying your $7.99 - $14.99 a month to have the privilege of a personal house in XIV.

On the other hand at least they give you email reminds to go into it if you ever forget to. Because, you know, nobody ever fucking visits your personal house because its too much of a hassle to get there.

The Aery isn't that bad. I've been running it as WAR and I've seen one person get killed by the gaol there. Its the Hard Roulette where the retards come out for some reason.

And I've only had a single NIN out DPS me on any of the boss fights in the Aery.

It is the DPS "check" as to why I dread it. IF I AM NOT one of the DPS, I will not pass this thing. =_=. I always carry this fight on BLM. Always. And if by some chance we get killed, it's because I fucked up, or just had to enter Umbral Ice at a inopportune moment.

Same thing with AK HM(I think I got it right). We're fucked, if I fuck up. I go in as another job, fuck it, not gonna pass it. Not saying I'm the best of the best and all, but generally the other DPS is just terrible >.< Holy crap have you ever played with a really bad DRG? That is tear inducing.

Funny, I have the exact same sentiment. I never liked melee jobs nor enjoyed the caster ones so I picked up bard as my dps back in 2.1 or so. Then 3.0 happened and behold the job I played for most of my time in FFXIV got turned into a caster. I still use it whenever I have to dps but I don't enjoy it and for any raid content I use my paladin now (yeah, bad choice, I know).

Come to think of it, I can probably outdps my bard on my paladin on bosses now just because I can't be bothered to even gear it up or actually get used to all the nonsense interrupts. I still tried to main bard up till we started doing AS1 and to me the straw that broke my back was when I found out that, unlike actual casters, I would still have the positional requirement on ravana as if I'm a melee job. So many things annoy me on bard that every time I play it, I just get disgusted enough about it that I can not bring myself to improve my dps. Yeah fuck it, I'll hover around 900 single target dps forever and I don't give a shit anymore.

It never ceases to amaze me how much more homogeneous the jobs have gotten in this expansion. I'm still a bit bitter about the nerfing that WHM has gotten. I don't really mind the ProShell change to everyone having it, but swapping out Graniteskin for Quick Stoneskin makes me question why I even cast it anymore.

I'm not even a Bard and I'm angry about the job. I don't understand the change at all when MCH can still run around while shooting. I didn't think it was that big of a deal at first, but you still have positionals?

I'll give it the list a couple more weeks to cook then look at it. Right now all the lines are written extremely passive aggressive because of my general attitude towards the game currently, need to neutral them all up if I made a thread. We haven't had a great QoL update in forever.

I can't wait for 4.0 to give every DPS a 5-stack Chakra for fight downtime, just like how every DPS got Greased Lightning in 3.0.

WHM will get a pet Wisp of Light and have RNG buffs called Prayers that work like cards.
SCH will get RNG buffs called Nymeian(sp) Strategems.
AST will get a pet Asterism.

PLD will get Enlight, WAR will get Instinct. Both consume MP to raise damage dealt.

All melee DPS will get a version of Minuet.
SMN will get Shoulder Tackle, Jump, Plunge, Repelling Shot, and Blank. To improve their mobility.
BLM will get ancient magic; can't move during the 30s cast period or you die.

Getting to know other jobs is simultaneously a gift and a curse. I'm so fucking critical of Drks in DF now it's not even funny. Had two Drks in a row that didn't use Darkside for the majority of the dungeon, and used Blood Price maybe like two or three times. Average pull would look like Unmend > Unleash all of their MP away > Siphon Strike Combo until they get their MP back. I think I can count on my hand all the times both of them used Shadowskin also.

They will tell you : 'Darkside uses too much mana' or 'I don't need to use cooldowns if you heal'
In this game the vast majority of assholes (because those guys are assholes) are the non raiding players.

The worse part is that its true, everytime I end up with a DRK they're not using Darkside/Blood Price when Darkside is just so easy to sustain and they will come up with the shittiest excuses to explain why they don't use them.

Oh I read what you said, just from this and other comments you've posted I have my doubts on your ability to correctly figure out why a wipe's happening.

And besides, if you really aren't exaggerating it's a bit retarded to wipe *seven* times to a thing, while you even think 1 guy is at fault, and not either a. kick the guy you think is causing the wipes, or b. vote abandon/leave. I'd be doing that after the 4th wipe on a day I'm feeling patient...what exactly made you think after the 4th or 5th wipe that the problem would be fixed on the next go or that it was even still worth the time at that point?

Basicaly, WAR (me) / AST healer with Lv9 & 20 INT jewels (bones one) NIN/BLM, BLM was on her 1st time, I took her to the dungeon & was her WAR as she is a new player, I recently joined a FC full of new players.

AST was healing meh during the course of the dungeon & we had a few wipe due to lacks of healing , he also asked for us to take 1 pack at a time.

During the last boss he couldn't figure that you need to get close for Dragon Voice, or run away for Ram voice, which killed him often, and if it wasn't that it was that electricity sphere targeting 1 player (if it was him he'd die of it) cause he wouldn't move away.

His excuse for being unable to do his job was that, my BLM friend was being hit by Dragon Voice was making his job harder (which can be fair enough.)

And yeah, his cure were in the 250-400 range, I am no healer so maybe this is normal at this level? Idk.

I'm healing this group. NIN is the only one I'm please with. The tank was just a pain to heal but whatever. BLM was pissing me off though.

Blizzard > Fire III til no mp > Blizzard, I've already seen this crap in high level roulette so I'm used to it. However, NO FIRE II ON PACKS. I politely said "can use Fire II on this group". Didn't happen, I just shut my mouth for the rest of the run. Each and every pack took long ass time to kill even with me and my pathetic fucking stone II. Don't get me started with Hellbender and Aiatar..

Side note: Stone III is actually pretty cool lol.

i38 average is 400. And his range couldn't have varied that much so idk which way the exaggeration goes.

And for future reference, if you have a ranged person having problems with when to run in/out, tell them to stay max range and run away from both.

I don't get this part at all. If there was a single thing about housing you'd call "useful" (pre-airships) it'd have to be the cheap teleport. And if you mean someone else's personal house I don't think random people walking in would reset the timer. Doesn't make sense they'd do it like that.

Fml, now that the EU servers have been relocated I've been getting 30-40% packet loss at times. I've literally done a fractal where I would be unable to progress because the door that opens after all trash in a room is dead would not open for me for 10-20s. I'd be tanking packs where I would just stand in the middle and flash while everything is standing still.

But at least my ping is now 14ms!

So it seems that as EU, lots of us are getting problems ever since they moved our Data Center to Europe, I myself experienced 1 big crash yesterday while I was tanking in Neverreap, one of thoses that I have never seen before my screen just frozen then the game became black forcing me to restart my comp, people are reporting the same kind of incidents along with Ping package drops & other things. So I believe we're gonna have another maintenance to fix the last maintenance and knowing SE they'll have to refix what they fixed beceause they will somehow manage to screw up something that didn't need fixing.

Story Time, Round 3.

I've been hitting The Vault now. And running it I check my group. MNK, MCH, AST, and me. We run through, MNK's pulling 2XXs (I'm in the 3XXs but I'm staying in defiance and full VIT accessories because fuck this dungeon. (I love it to be honest), MCH's out DPSing me (Yay) and giving me TP (Fuck yes) so I can overpower spam things to death.

We get through the first boss and as I'm running up the stairs the AST goes.

I'm sitting here like, 'Okay, that boss isn't intense' and after some quick looks. Nocturnal stance... oh jesus fuck alright. I'm going to keep an eye on him.

Go through next pack and next pack and go through the second boss and once again. AST is out of MP. So I pull up ACT search 'Lumin' and bang. No results. Problem #2 identified! (#1 is using Nocturnal in a dungeon. I won't knock someone for using it as long as it gets the job, but my personal belief is Diurnal wins in dungeons.)

And then we start the fight with the cleric that sacrifices himself to summon the 4 gargoyles. And then Healers /leaves and leaves us all to die. Fuckin Twat.

On the other hand. He left the i142 Planisphere so meh. No upgrade for him.

WAR/PLD/DRK can't use BfB, altho Fiye if you're WAR you can use Berserk everynow & then coupled with Inner Release and bloodbath, it will get the job done better than BfB anytime and should almost be ready for the next pull. As for your mitigation, I used to swap between Vengance/Inner Beast or simply Raw Intuition/awareness in this dungeon, that way they would alway be available from a pull to another.

Lastly I'd drop the full VIT because this dungeon is really not difficult.

I swap between Foresight + Thrill and Vengeance + Convalescence. I'll start a pull by grabbing hate with flash. (If Defiance) Infuriate -> Unchained -> Blood Bath -> Berserk -> Overpower spam. Its what I did the entire dungeon against the mobs (If there were 3+).

The fucker was just blind and attacking me because I made a comment when I couldn't figure out why he was losing MP so fast.

It also doesn't help when the healer has an Overheal of 26% on the second boss, 16% on the first boss.

Or 78% against the first bit against the second boss. The healer was literally wasting MP, I called him out, and I got shit on for nothing by said healer.

Well BRD looks more appealing with Minuet, the only thing you lose with it is the ability to do your weapon skills while moving and that's not really a big deal.

What about double weaving buffs? Or not being able to aim Flaming Arrow before the cast resets? Especially if you play with a controller its a fuckin pain in the ass. BRD needs some QoL changes starting from increased chance for SS to proc.
