I got captain rank. Floor 100 in Nyzul. Saw through the end of the stories and god knows what else. I don't know how i played so long without getting anything worthwhile out of Dynamis, Sky, Sea, etc...

Then again the 3 times I did Dynamis were the most boring times of my life.

Just being a level75 body got you into a lot of things. Hell you didn't need to be 75 for Sky. (I cleared 18-man ark angels as a 68 WHM/32 BLM. Hella gimped.

Most fights in FFXI didn't take more than one try outside of Chains of Promathia. XI wasn't hard, but fuck if you had to bash your face into a lot of things to get better gear.
So you didn't play 1/2 the end game content at 75 and consider anyone at 75 good k.

But this topic is basically all about that. The amount of shitters who hit 75 in XI was staggering. Basically you just pick a mage or bard or ranger and you'll get 75 even if you suck ass. Even if you had a rep as a bad player there would come a point where you have no choice but to invite them as the only person in that range (because anyone known for being good gets grabbed like 5s after putting up LFP).

My group has 6 members that could clear A3-4 and raid 3-5 nights a week. Filling the last two spots has been a nightmare and has completely crapped out all of us.
Hold on you didn't need an organized group in XI? People scheduled static nights for CoP missions and a lot of other content in that game. That's rather shocking to me as you pretty much couldn't do shit in that game @1 - 75 cap w/o organizing other players outside of cases where RDMs or other classes could solo.

XI didn't die when you needed an organized group, so why are you implying that is the case here?

Edit: Is this bizaro BG I'm reading? 90% of XI was organization lol....

Maybe read the 2nd half of the post.

Having 7 people may as well be 0 when you need an exact number of highly skilled people of the correct jobs to do content every time.

1 person missing? Well fuck, all the other good people are in statics of their own and PUG are a total crapshoot.

People don't log into the game for a chance at maybe doing content if someone from another group doesn't show up, and grinding the 1 endgame event goes from being "kind of fun" to "fuck this" when you have deal with finding and teaching new people every other night, essentially making no progress.

In XI the content was so easy you could pretty much get any random person in your LS and do the content. Did it all the time with sky, sea, dynamis, bcnms, salvage, nyzul ect. You never had to cancel or not go do an event cause someone couldn't make it.

FFXIV not so much. We have not beat A3S because someone in the group is always busy and has to miss a day not usually the same person either, we get like 1 hour work on A3S every other week due to people not being able to show up. We have tons of people in our FC but FFXIV doesn't lend its self to subbing in another person to do your raid cause either they don't have any gear or would have to spend many many hours to teach them what to do to get to the same point as us and its not really feasible to do for someone who is just subbing in for someone once.

Imagine if this were 20 man or 40 man raids.

    Spoiler: show
Context: People kept quitting because Wildstar raids were over overtuned. Datascape (Their second and final raid tier), was left uncleared for 9 months before a guild managed to clear it.

I had a great LS in FFXI. But if one person didn't log on we didn't fold up. If an extra person logged in they didn't sit out.

I've raided 0-1 days every week since expansion because of 1 rotating person. That was never the case in 11.

Sorry no, my group has been recruiting 2 players and have been 6 out of 8 for awhile now and have not missed a week of A4S since we've cleared it for 6 weeks. While we've been looking and trialing people we've pulled from friends or other FC members to do runs. Yes we have to take a hit with 1 chest runs sometimes, but it's better then nothing.

It's shocking to me that people don't network with other groups on their server at similar skill levels. That's what you did in XI and you should do in RL. Shocking that you can apply a real life concept to the game like networking and improving your end game community on your server.

Run a 9 - 10 man static, fill the 9th and 10th as players that play the same role as your least available players. Get people at least books. If your group has a problem with loot being that way, make additional characters on most available people and run the fight twice a week for the 9th and 10th with chests. Problem solved.

You have A4S on farm. You have the best check to see if someone can do it or not.

    http://puu.sh/kUTUd/6d22430357.jpg

Otherwise, groups that are running 7/8, 6/8 or whatever trying to still progress to savage have to deal with someone who might know up to tornados, up to enrage, up to god knows what else.

You set up a PFer with a ilv requirement and job requirement. And you hope the person that answers is at least able to say the truth of what their skills are in learning the complexity of whatever raid you're on.

Why are you not using Reddit ffxiv recruitment, BG recruitment section, and OF recruitment section? Why is PF the only option to seek players?

Edit: Also once again, why are you not getting to know others on your server that are at similar skill levels?

Honestly, aside from the fact that most good players have groups already, there's fuck all to do in the game, logging in just to network and socialize is not something most people feel like doing.

It's way more effort to recruit people as replacements than it's worth when the game has so little to offer to begin with.

That itself is a reason it's so hard really, so many people that don't have statics have pretty much stopped playing.

my group does something similar. after a full clear we work on a 1 chest clear for the other few dudes, then the next time around we shift our lineup so the half clear guys get access to two chests. no matter what, everyone gets a page and it ensures that we all get to participate together.

pretty much the only way we figured out how to get something fair done all together without making a million alts, even if overall progress is slowed.

Let's not take for granted that the person suggesting you run a 10 man static would have been a Dynamis Shell leader in FFXI and attempted to be something similar in 1.0 and failed.

Luckily MrHappy took them along for a wild ride, and I say that only half seriously.

Just wanna say that, at least on Hyperion, the problem was that everyone* worth getting had group loyalty and they often ran one last time right before reset day. There were very few people who were not part of another static that you could call up. It was one thing if you were pretty confident you were not going to clear and just wanted the practice, but some just didn't want to practice outside of their groups.

I mean, congrats on having a good network of people. But you're definitely the rarity here.

*Do I mean literally everyone? Of course not. There's probably plenty of highly skilled players that weren't even blips on our radar. Fuck knows a lot of our static replacements were like this.

Edit: Also I'm pretty sure the situation discussed in the last few posts where runs are held up because of a (not always the same) person, constantly, is pretty common for one reason or another. It's not severe enough to boot and replace but it's also eating into time able to put in to clear. You can argue how much "hours put in" is necessary to clear but long gaps between said hours don't lend well to learning/progression.
