FFXIV Random Complaint Thread II: DPS can't count to potato

Fuck them, whenever I pugged with frenchies to help them they refused to read the guides and/or videos I sent them because English is haaaard.

Also if you have a mix of English and French players many of them will refuse to speak to each other and so on.

I dodge those by ragequitting any pug full of french speaking people... even if I'm also french speaking.

At least they're not as terrible as BRs. Had this terribly undergeared gem in Dusk Vigil the other day with i30ish accessories + Garuda ring. And he already has a 60 to boot so I don't know how you can be so fucking lazy on gearing your alt. iLvl check on 51-59 dungeons when?

So far I've played with 2 good french players. Good as in, average(like me) and one of them is in my FC that I run expert with sometimes.


So my complaint: I'm just running Haukke Manor randomly to get away from mechanic stress from higher level dungeons, and right off the Archer hauls boogy to the wandering succubus thing and pulls it. I'm thinking "I'm going to let him die.." but the PLD grabs it, so whatever. THEN the blm wants to tank too and pulls the 3 mobs down the hall, while the PLD continues the routine of going in the side room, unaware of the dumb fuckatry going on in the hall. So I'm like "Ok fuck that, both of you will die. I'm not healing stupid..". So now there is a huge mess with 6 mobs(the 3 aggroed the PLD by proximity from flash) and I guess the tank gives up lol and 3 are whacking me and I end up dying. The BLM rage quits. The PLD leaves 5 minutes later and is replaced by another PLD and we get another BLM. The run is smooth from there.

Tanks might deal with it, but I wont. Pull for tank, and your ass is dead.

The hard roulette dungeons are legitimately THE WORST. Nothing even comes close to the idiots you find in hard roulette. The last 2 times I did it on tank, the healers "d/c'd" because they couldn't keep up with moderately large (normal-sized) pulls. Good luck also finding dps who perform anywhere near potential, or even know mechanics. It always seems to be people who are running the dungeons for the first time and honestly trying (but still being bad), or people who just don't know and don't care how to play.

I don't think I've ever played with any french. Hooray.

I remember early 2.0 era whenever a french person was in party people immediately disbanded.

To be fair we are not all bad, the disbanding behavior was some sort of bad generalisation on the level of the "Americans are fat & only eat burgers" generalisation. Its bad.

I will admit that in the course of the last 4 days I myself ran into a fair amount of FR idiots in the expert roulette, like a MNK with an horrendous DPS who would leave a pack of mob at 50% health to go pick the next pack for me (in NVRP, he went ahead & pulled the mobs sealing the entrance of boss 2 while the tree & the 4 bees were still alive.) Which caused a wipe, because I hate 2 Final sting in a row.

But the whole "most frenchs are bad" stigma needs to stop, you really can't generalize on a whole playerbase because you met 10-20 bad apples, I have had my fair share of German/Italian/Spanish/American idiots, it does not make them all idiots.

I agree..but honestly, I wouldn't put it past anyone who thinks all Americans are stupid and such - This game alone kind of proves the American playerbase has a very high idiot/troll rate compared to other gaming bases.

I've been doing pretty well with double pulls. Haven't come across a healer who can't keep up with that although some have come close. The problem of DPS starting single target DPS instead of AoE with the pulls still remains though.

I just see it as a whole, this game has an idiotic playerbase for sure, now to know where they come from, I am not sure NA ppl can be blamed for most of the fault considerning you've got lots of wannabe-murica out there, there are too many on Chaos Data center, I guess its why our data center is called "Chaos" ..

To be fair, it's a pretty casual MMO with a cat-girl race. You're going to get tons of weeaboos wobbling their way around the game in an attempt to hit level cap.

TERA has even more fanservice and its playerbase isn't as god awful as XIVs.

As much as I was joking with my comment, I think the "problem" (one that effects the playerbase) with XIV is that it appeals to such a mass Final Fantasy audience that people who typically play alone at home on easy to relax are thrown into this online environment that they're not used to. Then there's people who have been playing MMOs with add-ons that practically hold their hand through any encounter than they can't fathom doing anything or learning anything themselves.

And the few that want to learn/gitgud are thrown into groups with experienced veterans of the series and MMORPGs in general who often throw their toys at the pram when someone doesn't automatically know how to do literally everything perfectly the first time even after they've seen a video.

I'm hoping that beginners arena thing they keep mentioning but never delivering does something to encourage the playerbase to at least try to get good. I'm not even that great myself but it's frustrating when as a BRD I can out DPS a pug mnk/drg/nin/smr/blm by a large margin no problem... even when looking after Mana hungry healers and dps who can't manage TP to save their lives. I miss having a raid group (

One of the big issues though is there's no feedback on whether or not you're doing 'good' DPS for your iLv. Then you add in a setting where everyone's a tank for the first 30 levels. Eos can heal the entire dungeon by herself. And the SCH can do nothing but spam Adloquium and still be fine on MP until they hit their first trial.
