FFXIV Random Complaint Thread II: DPS can't count to potato

So my friend reached Lv60 4 days ago and I am trying to show her some way of gearing her AST now, we got her to iLv174 but we're a bit sick of farming Law tomes, yesterday we decided to give a go to Alex Normal 1, to try & get her some iLv190 rings/Jeweleries...

We may have tried 7 times before getting sick of it too, we could only clear it once (the 2nd time) and every other attempts were vote abandonned..
I have never ever seen so much failures, from DPS who completely ignore adds and leave them to pound the healers, while giving the shittiest DPS ever, even with iLv200 weapons or tanks with GLA not even unlocked.

That plus the fact she have to roll against 6 other ppl, we have a long way..

174 is enough for the new dungeons, do those till they have enough of any 185 accessories, get to 179, diadem.

Thats a good idea, we did that garden dungeon 3 or 4 times but all it droped was a pair of gloves lol, so we're trying to look for something we can repeat often & complete quickly especialy since we're already capped on Eso. I bougth her that Sky Pirate Coat of Healing too to boost the process. I don't even think setting a PF for Alex 1 will work today.

But jesus, I can understand why so many people go with the "exp only" mindset when facing such situations, I was really against that mindset but I can understand how frustrating it is now when you try to help someone and 6 others people mess up badly, especialy when all it require is anybody to do 1-2-3 with a papermade add under a lightbeam..

So healer(an AST with an attitude) let's me drop on the first pull in the Aery. I get it, later on she wants to stay in cleric stance, which is probably why she lets me down to near death. This is fine, except, I'm blowing all my CDs on every pull just to keep from dying from her lack of heals or gimped cleric heals.

If only I could Bloodbath+Berzerk permanently hehe.. that and ToB+Conv and Bloodbath + double cyclone(situational) been my only reliable forms of healing. Way too scared to go into Deliverance with her.

As a healer I never assume the tank is smart enough to toggle Deliverance, just as when I'm a tank I don't assume a healer is smart enough to toggle Cleric's. Aside from the initial death(which sucks, but happens from time to time), they sound like an aggressive healer. Doesn't sound like a fail to me. Your cooldowns are for trash, not for bosses.

It's started again, I forgot after many months since I beat Ravana Ex for my last drop what it was like PFing Primal Progression. Now it's (on the whole) "Must have exp up to Meteors" and I have passed that many times so join thinking it wouldb e the party for me, then get up to Meteors once in about 20 pulls.

This is exactly how it was with with ravana, swap Meteor exp for "Must know Final Liberation/all fight!" and dying because people fucked up Final Liberation.

Although saying that, sucessfully DF'ed Ravana Ex last night, 10% echo but I still consider that a win for DF.

I use them for trash, just not all at once, not for small pulls at least.

What about the mega pulls directly before the bosses in dungeons like Neverreap and Fractal? I have this issue with DRG as well, do good DPS on trash, not so good for most of the fight against first boss.

I don't understand. If you're using them all at once, and you require them to survive, how are you surviving?

Not making excuses for a death, but sounds like your healer is scaring you, not actually doing something wrong.

First boss for fractal: Boss shouldnt be turned/moved(shouldn't be at all generally), since his AOEs will shift, that could fuck up positional DPS.

Haven't tanked either yet, can't say how I would approach the encounters.

Funny how death can come at any second when you want it to in a raid but (as a Tank especially) you can just stand there intending to wipe, using no CDs and just take hits like a boss.

Holy shit I don't know what the fuck happened to the Aether Datacenter player base but I've done Void Ark several times this week and only cleared it once. Like nobody can get through Cuchulainn and it's really starting to irk me because I'm trying to gear a secondary and none of my job's stuff is dropping or we can't advance past a certain point. Extremely annoyed

What do you expect from a playerbase that states "hardcore raiding" is "obsolete" and "having to assert yourself and actually learn how to play the game" isn't what MMOs are about these days?

This. I have done Void Ark a total of 2 times (luckily gotten the piece I wanted both times) and both of those were painless because I did them pretty much right after Tuesday reset. Others in my LS, well...they've not been so lucky.

Yep I've done it both times on a Tuesday and been completely painless with alliance chat been full of people having a laugh. Like doing Alex normal before patch. Closer to next reset the worse it got
