I have done it Tuesday or Wednesday so far, and hopefully only once a week. I just roll on whichever caster or tank piece I don't have that drops, in the hope I don't have to come back that week.
Still swear by "post-maintenance: get it done asap". Those are the best runs. Not that you can really count on those, just nice when it happens.
I'm of the post-maintenance, get it done that night type, too. Usually the best runs are right when the server goes up and they get considerably worse from there.
The Diadem has to be the single most retarded thing I've ever done in game. Who the fuck thought that this is a good activity?
It just makes me miss Dynamis/Einherjar/Campaign/Besieged/Gaes Faet or w/e it's spelled. Same general concept but shit..it feels so..shallow in XIV.
Ontop of that the fuck is even the point dropping 150 gear? Yeah it's turned in for points, but if it's a loot pinata you may as well toss out the candy corn and coconut candy and leave the mini snickers and twix. I guess they were trying to mimic how in XI you got "something" that may not be immediately useful...but ugh. Doesn't help that people park on the most inefficient island possible if you go outside of PF/FC.
I think Dynamis was better because things didn't respawn, so you actually moved camp instead of just sitting in one place killing as things are brought in.
i like coconut candy
Arboretum is the new Neverreap.
Yeah it is. Except Belladonna is way harder of a hurdle for your average DF group.
I definitely think Belladonna was that boss that Yoshi-P mentioned in one of those pre-3.1 interviews as needing the last-minute nerf, since it was too "raid-like" and the new/inexperienced healers on their test team couldn't keep up with the damage.
I didn't even know Belladonna had adds until I decided to solo queue roulette earlier this week. So god damn spoiled by premades. Thankfully esoterics are piss-easy to cap courtesy of Savage/Diadem/PVP, barely need to step in expert.
I don't really understand what's hard about Belladonna. It doesn't do any worse damage than A4 normal or the other new dungeon boss (Mom bomb w/e). And it barely seems to have mechanics. I can't say I have had a lot of problems with it in DF but I have heard my friends bitching about that one in particular.
It's not hard, really. The issue is when people don't avoid. With only two weakness debuffs on, the boss's AOEs start doing 10k damage each.
So the problem is DF being DF more than anything.
I meant more with the frequency people seem to get it over Pharos. I have run Pharos twice. Once to open it for ex, once in roulette. The entire rest of the time has been Arboretum. Judging by my friend's list, it seems they get Pharos with about the same frequency in ex roulette (that is, pretty much never).
Arboretum's basic mechanics aren't nearly as annoying as Neverreap's, but there are still some annoying things. Bees and malboros are never fun. But I guess they are a damn sight better than that shitty hamster wheel of a boss. I still feel like Pharos is the faster dungeon, but it might just feel that way because I've done it fewer times so it's got more novelty appeal.
Not only that, most parties I join people are self entitled, borderline arrogant & insulting like if they were doing the hardest content of the game and if they were good at it, yet no one grasped the concept of efficient & quick farm, and often you end up losing time cause ppl are insulting each others in /shouts, or dieing on the only big NM you poped cause they are too idiots to keep pulling the Dinos and Acid Shower mobs around...
I personaly do it because I have a feeling that the tier V Materias are gonna foolishly increase in price comes 3.2 and I want to avoid spending tons of gils (which I don't have) to afford them, but godmanit lol.
I did one PF Diadem run today. My group simply gave up with 30mins left because Brachiosaur popped and the camp was completely ruined after that as the 4+ parties there wiped over and over to it. 90% of people have the fucking retarded sheep herd mentality of "if we're not at dino camp we may as well not be here at all". I certainly wasn't keen on fighting both my party members to move camp away from a star mob AND fighting the dino that kept killing everyone over and over because people are too fucking stupid to coordinate or prioritize.
As much as I have hope for Diadem as something that could become potentially awesome content, I'm starting to realize it's just going to make the bads even worse. They get top ilvl gear while being carried by the people who actually can heal/dps, and whatever sort of strategy they might have picked up before Diadem was the end-all gear-up content will be lost as now it's literally just hit mob, get loot.
It could have been something yes, as for the gear, the only good thing I saw up to today (doing at least 2 Diadem a day) as a 210 drop was a Tank Legs with +80 crit & det, no need to say that I lost the roll with my pityfull 24, against the other tank >.>; I have obtained a few other 210 with +30 skill speed & that kind of shit, I just used it to trade for spoils.
I would say that its better doing Savage unless yRNG is your best mate.
I got a 210 STR ring from my first time in there, but it caused the Mnk to ragequit the party.
Is there some kinda unwritten rule list when it comes to drops there?
