Is it only my server or these things are becoming the norm? Or am I being the silly one because I can't understand that +3 main stats are better than anything and warrant the loss for the rest? The gloves are okay, but these rings.

As much as I like the red magitek mount, while this doesn't bother me personally (all MMOs have a pay to something mechanic nowadays) I do kind of agree with a poster who said XIV may not be Pay to Win, but it's Pay to look Pretty. So I guess it is good SE panders to the people who find glamour the real endgame, because now he can double and triple dip them and they'll beg for more.

As far as I have been led to understand (my math is pretty bad so I rely on hearsay for these), main stats are really the only stats that matter. You have to have a metric fuckton of any other stat to even make a dent.

I use a shitty pink accessory like that on my healers just because the alternative right now is an i180 one unless I throw myself at alex normal. So yeah, +11 of a primary stat does vastly outweigh what I'd get from using a shitty accessory instead.

The weights aren't that ridiculous. It's something like ten of even the worst (non-accuracy) substat to one mainstat, and you're losing a lot more than that wearing that awful 210 crap rather than eso jewelry, which is even All Classes so it's not a lockout issue. But if you don't have alex or better, yeah, it's actually superior.

I saw people who bougth them spam fire them in Idylshire, just to show I guess. I just can't understand how people think such prices are acceptable, with people paying cash like it did not matter SE will never give us additional free retainers, which are very necessary with the template of the game.

As for that Enkidoh Roux guy from Balmung (posting page 2), whenever I read him I get that instant golden /facepalm feeling.

Yeah - See I'm guilty of dropping $12+ on games like Brave Frontier (or the FF version that came out recently) but a mount that is no special other than a color swap...no wonder SE has no drive to make appropriate content lol, they get their money from this.

I'm not far enough into the game to do collectables. So fishing at this point seems to be mostly white or red coral, Titanic sawfish and a few fish able minions for Gil.

Sometimes I wonder why the devs even bother with normal maps when they either look like garbage, are not pronounced (re: 90% of the ones in ARR), or flat out look like they were applied to the wrong diffuse map. Nevermind the general blockyness in whatever texture compression method they chose for the normal maps as well.




And don't get me started on how terrible the parallax mapping looks if your camera is anywhere closer than max-zoom range from the ground. Turned that off awhile ago since it's hella inconsistent with its application quality.

If you only rely on main stats then you're doing it wrong. Let's take an example : Det is 0.100 MND is 1.000 so you need only 10 Det to reach 1 MND, if you have 40 DET it's like having + 4 MND. Now let's say crit is higher like Crit = 0.150 then approximatively every 7 Crit you gain 1 MND so with 20 crit you gain 3 MND. So you see a piece with 40 Det and 20 crit (which is pretty common) adds the equivalent of 7 MND to your stats. Better than the + 3 MND from main stat alone. So the ilvl is higher but the performance is worse.
My numbers are not accurate because it's only for example.
