FFXIV Random Complaint Thread II: DPS can't count to potato

I started playing again this week after a five month absence. People really have gotten bad at this game. I just had my first ever wipe on the first boss of Sastasha hard mode. I didn't think it was possible to wipe to that thing but the attack that does a lot of damage was picking people off. After the fight the tank and healer started blaming each other and talking about oral sex in French before rage quitting. I'm glad because I don't see how we would have made it past the second boss. I was only trying to do my roulette. Looking at the reward I'm starting to think it's not worth it.

Yep, and people will continue to get worse long as yoshi keeps babysitting them and refusing to add proper content simply because "it won't be accessible to even midcore players." Never knew it was a crime that if you weren't good enough to clear content it simply isn't for you and to find something else that's more suited for your skill >.>.

Adding harder content isn't suddenly going to make people good. They should add proper things to teach people about rotations and DPS, but even having said that there isn't really a foolproof way to teach someone how to tank or heal.

Well they do seem to be adding progressively harder dungeons at least. Not difficult ones but certainly the level 60 dungeons are a step up from the likes of Sastasha hard mode and any other 50s. That said I've not done the 3.1 dungeons yet because my ilevel isn't high enough.

So is it the healer's responsibility in Sastasha's first boss? The tank seemed to be getting the blame for not stunning the attack, but as I'm a lazy BLM I don't really take note of who's job that is.

The tank is stunned when Tail Screw is going off, they can't stun it.

The healer needs to be removing the poison from everyone, Tail Screw can't actually kill you, it just brings your HP down low (a la Throat Stab of yore).

Ah right. Healer was definitely failing then, the poisons weren't being removed.

To be fair, you can also pass off the mark that is on the tank and they won't get stunned, leaving them open to actually stunning the boss. There are like 3 different ways to handle that mechanic and they fucked up every one of them.

Pretty much. Carry the target marker to a random DPS, stun Tail Screw. Simple.

Alternatively can just shield the tank. Any shield works (SS, Adlo, whatever Astro does). The stun claw does pitiful dmg and stun does not go thru if you take 0 damage. When I was still a Palapleb I would Stoneskin myself as soon as the tether appeared then stun the screw.

I mean, your DPS are gonna be blowing all their stuns and DRing it in a DF group that doesn't know any better anyway, that boss always has a chance of being a shitshow if the healer isn't competent.

And yeah, that's one reason I stopped playing. I'm still subbed, and I still log in for statics and the events and the occasional chat, but I need to be dragged into doing anything else. I just don't have the mental energy to put up with people's shit.

I only play for leveling roulette, and trials(this is where all my entertainment comes from). The game still has a few things that it has going for it.

Didn't even know about that. When I'd heal that place, I knew removing the poison quickly was important. I mean, it's the only reason anyone would die anyhow, the move itself, not so much.

They said awhile back that they're just going to make 2hand versions of select 1handed weapons for glamor purposes, which is better than nothing I suppose.

Re: Sastasha HM - Healer is at fault. All the other methods are unreliable in a DF setting. This is assuming people aren't being stupid and stacking up so they have twice/thrice as many sludges to esuna.

Can't wait for them to use this as the excuse for why 3.2/3.3/3.4 is lacking in content.

Came across my first two tanks who never really touched a defensive cooldown once. The WAR in my Arboretum run today never left Deliverance and had my playing HP ping pong the whole time. I might have gotten like two Aero 3s and a handful of Stone 3s(All during Rose Garden btw...) off at most. Next was Everreap and the guy couldn't even hold hate on top of it.

Aether has balmung attached to it, largest NA server+ largest group of people who don't care about the game from a gameplay standpoint = one hell of a time.

Oddly my Aether DF experience is...let's say 75% positive. There's always gonna be that 25% of total shit, like the last time I logged on to do a level roulette on drg and got stuck in Aery with a 200dps smn and a healer who was obviously unaccustomed to dpsing but tried anyway to make up for the smn, leading to some deaths. I want to say I've seen more good/decent than downright bad in the Aether DF. But I also don't remember anyone saying they're from Balmung when people end up sharing what sever they're from, so maybe I'm just lucky.
