They likely won't answer unless you ask them in the form of a paragraph long emote filled with RP speak.

I have good experiences mostly on Primal. I mean, you get the odd idiots here and there, but otherwise not too horrible.

I think the only abysmal times I've had recently were in Alex 1 because people are spammy and lazy and not killing the adds in the right place, since they're in such a hurry, and RavEx. Extreme primals in DF are really just asking for a bad time, but I've had better luck with them in DF than my server's PF.

the lazy/spammy shit is the biggest problem i run into. usually we'll wipe, people will bitch and moan, and then actually do the mechanics.

I'm still trying to get a Rav EX clear even using Gilg's PF. I haven't had too many problems with the PF for other EX Primal clears though. 1/1'd Ramuh with an unsync which I was kinda happy about.

Something about Ravana just brings out..the dumbest in people I don't know. Either they have effects off or they just don't care lol. Ravana is literally a dance since he spends more time dancing himself and using frontal cleaves.

yep. when im teaching people that fight, i start by saying how much i like it because it is literally a dance. he even starts the fight with "Dance to the song of ringing steel!" Once you learn the steps and perform them without major error, you win.

yeah, but ravana's feels more like a dance. maybe its because of his theme music being so waltzy

I think the thing with Ravana, compared to other Extreme primals, is that some of his attacks aren't really intuitive, especially if they haven't done Coil. Take, for example, that first Prey. It's obvious it's supposed to go to the tank, but the rotation around isn't really as obvious (though nowadays you can fudge this one a bit with higher iLevel). 1, 2, 3, 4 could just as easily be him diving from the center at each like he does in Hard, rather than Extreme. The way we handle Double Prey? That's one of the most non-intuitive things in all the Ex Primals. Actually, even the very first two liberations as well, where you go out and then behind. There isn't really a consistency there. I feel like Ravana is really a lot of separate, random, unrelated mechanics strung together, and that's why DFers tend to struggle with it.

Compare that to something like TitanEx, which a lot of people still struggle with learning, is pretty easy in general to understand. Don't stand in the shiny yellow area. Huddle together in the last phase so everyone can avoid their Weights. Don't stand on a million flashy exploding bomb things. The hardest thing is really his sumo stomp, but after seeing it once or twice you see that you're supposed to stand on his ass.

The only thing that takes time to learn in RavEX is his hitbox size on Swift Liberation (swords) and how to dodge it properly so you don't get double-tapped, and that Final Liberation's dash is a two-part sequence, which probably could have benefit from being in the story version but with visible lanes pointing towards the prey holders just so people can see how that actually works after the first wipe.

Other than that the rest of the fight is just seeing the move names and learning how to react. First two liberations while a different aoe zone coverage, have obvious AoE range coverage from the animation, and don't one-shot you anyways (one vuln stack isn't an issue in that fight either).

Most of Titan EX's learning was memorizing the script, the timings, and how to bait the 5way landslide so people have an easier time dodging the bombs, all the while trying to DPS so you didn't hit enrage back when everyone was i80ish. Rav EX gives you two years between its mechanics in comparison.

Assuming I remember correctly: it is exactly a waltz. My friends who had taken music far noticed and mentioned it immediately to me. "1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3". I'm pretty sure the fight mechanics were even designed with this in mind. One of the tank parts where you move to avoid avoidable damage is basically dancing the waltz with Ravana.

    Spoiler: show
The second half of the music is mentally replaced with "Crab People" in my mind.

Lucky. When I was on balmung, nearly all my DF runs had 3 from balmung, with the odd one from somewhere else.

Did a random Bismarck duty finder and I forgot how know it all people get just because they have an ilvl 200-205 weapon. lol, MCH was trying to critique everyone in the party and used his Thordan Ex weapon as a basis of knowledge.

Maybe I am wrong, but it seems the population is decreasing badly, its the impression I got on Ragnarok anyway.

I think the only people who are sticking around at this point are the young'uns who use it more as a chat channel and enjoy the graphics more than the actual gameplay. And of course the white knights who have somehow convinced themselves beyond any doubt that the game is more or less fine.
I'm probably going to do the patch dance like everyone else from this point forward until such a time as I can really let go. Unless the game makes major improvements (which likely won't happen), it's just not worth spending time on it anymore.

The people I play with are sticking around, but to a person they are working professionals who never have more than a few hours a day to play during the week.

I think that's the ticket. I do my few hours a night with them, try to hit up an EX (try...) and that's about it. It's a good maintenance-level of play.

I'm really not enjoying BLM since the level 60 skills came into play. I don't know if I'm just doing it wrong but it is painful to play.

    For me the optimal rotation seems to be something like fire 3 - fire 4 - fire 4 - fire - fire 4 - fire 4 - blizzard 3 - blizzard 4 when fighting a boss.

The problem I have with this is you're cutting the rotation so close that if you so much as dodge an AoE that fire 1 in the middle puts you in astral 1 and totally fucks you over. If you get really unlucky your second fire 4 cast will be interrupted because you lost astral fire altogether.

I also get those lovely situations where a mob places a puddle of shit on top of you right after you use Ley Lines which stops you using the effect until the puddle disappears which happens to be about the same time the effect disappears.

I can only imagine how bad this shit must be in a raid situation, though I suspect anyone doing Alexander savage mode has had a lot more time to figure out how to deal with these annoyances. But right now I just don't enjoy the job any more.

Savage as BLM is using one of three or so opener variants based on the timing of the first AoE that goes off in the fight so you can work around it, and then bitching loudly over voip when someone isn't assisting with baiting AoEs away from your designated spot.

But yeah, I pretty much stopped playing BLM in 3.X. Too many situational changes to your rotation flow are needed on a per-encounter basis, or having to cut to UI early to maintain Enochian which is just a dps loss.
