I'm stuck in a casual deathspiral.

I don't raid, but there's stuff I'd like to do that I never got around to before: Never touched anything beyond Turn 6, never got any of the elemental ponies. I came to a realization, though: Despite everything being doable with unsync lv60s steamrolling, I have no idea what any of the current tank strategies are. Since everything seems to be solo-tanking, I'm not sure what to do, which keeps me from trying to do things, and all of the written stuff to help guide is for lv50. I hate wasting seven other people's time because I don't know where to be standing or what to be ignoring.

Common icons to see, but the only one that really pisses DRKs off when undermined is Blood Price:

Red Vertical Sword: Darkside. It drains MP/tic to boost damage and open up the majority of a Drk's tools

Dude Standing With an Arm Raised: Grit: Defense Stance. Decreased damage taken, enmity boost, standard stuff. Can't use Blood Weapon

Diagonal Sword: Blood Weapon: 10% skill timer reduction, 20% TP cost reduction, drains MP on every hit.

Star With White Swirl: Dark Dance: Boosts Parry Rate, and Evasion if it was used with Dark Arts

Red Wavy Swirl with White Center: Blood Price: Restores MP when damage is taken. This is the one where you need to stop stuns on pulls.

Yellowy Swirl Icon: Dark Mind: Magic Damage Reduction

Hex Grid: Shadowskin: 20% Damage Reduction

Bladed Triangle: Shadow Wall: 30% Damage Reduction.

Hourglass: Living / Walking Dead: If you see the DRK hit 1HP, you have to then heal that DRK for their Max HP to keep them from dying in ten seconds. so you really have to heal them to max and then heal 1 more HP since they never lost that 1HP they were left with when the effect changed.

Reading the Level 50 strats is a good place to start. It gives you an idea of the things that can / can't be ignored due to an increase of iLvl. Take Shiva EX for example. The vulnerability boosts from being hit by sword or staff can be ignored, but you still need to know where to stand for Icicle Impacts because they add even more vulnerability on top of those ones. Ice Brand is still a tank buster because it deals 18K damage without vulnerability stacks and needs to be shared with the group despite the better gear you're bringing.

Whore yourself on PF saying Poetics bonus. 7 Masochists will come along and happily carry you. Just add a snippet somewhere you want to watch cutscenes as their punishment heehee

the fact they still haven't fixed/adjusted old beastmen daily fates. It's not like there aren't 300 other fates in the fates in the game that all use the same code for determining their pop timers... the fuck can't they hotfix this. Probably one of the most annoying things about this game when it comes to developers. they only fix stuff like this after 75% of the player base has already done it

Dunno, just in case he wants to I guess. Since I we carried someone on the weekend that insisted on watching it; and through gritted teeth we all wanted the bonus and agreed to let him watch lol

Nah, making people wait for my ass to watch cutscenes goes into that "hate wasting time" thing that keeps me from wiping people in the first place.

I'll look up strategies for this stuff and just ask what's changed.

Thanks for that. Even though I said I don't know what DRK skills do or what the icons do, I like to think I have some decent awareness. With that, these quoted icons don't sound familiar at all lol.

One additional note: Red hourglass = drk popped living dead and his hp wont drop below 1. grey hourglass (i think its still an hourglass... it's the only grey one though) = living dead procced because the drk would have died, so you need to heal them for 100% of their max HP. if you don't, they fall over dead when it wears off.

    yes, it's dumb. but whatevs.

And so many WHM refuse to use benediction (if they want to save the trouble) or they just decide to slap a regen on you. Like...ok that's cool and all but, that's not going to help.

yeah, bene is the perfect complement to LD. it's not really a skill you want to be relying on anyway because of the long cooldown (much like LD) so my static's whm has just decided to set it aside specifically for if i pop LD. which i'm gonna start doing for thordan, actually, because it occurs to me that i don't need to mitigate jack shit if i can't die.

I always SCH my DFs (I suck at WHM) so it bothers me more when DRKs don't make use of some of their best utility. It's like a WAR not going to town with Bloodbath+Vengeance and Inner Beasting the pack.

Well for ponies you're in luck as all of those can be done uncapped and it's pretty much a faceroll with 4-5 good people on any of those. Just know the mechanics for the fights, you'll find some you can ignore completely (pretty much everything in garuda is ignorable uncapped) and some you have to adjust a bit to an uncapped strat (if you kill ifrit too fast you autowipe) but they're all pathetically easy and the droprates aren't too bad now. Just grab some friends or PF it.

This also prevents the drk from receiving any refresh effect from bards bow/gun mages.

You can dodge the Ifrit autowipe with the Machinist glitch - just have a mch run into aggro, place the turret outside the ring of fire, wait for the turret to get hate, and that breaks Ifrit completely and you can just burn him down without any phases happening at all. For some reason, despite all the hubbub when it got discovered, the glitch has even mostly vanished from Google at this point. But it still works, I did it a few hours ago for some bonus poetics.

It's also the fastest method because he never goes invincible or anything.

(But nobody ever did find a way to make it work on A3S. Or, to my knowledge, literally any other fight, although maybe you can do it in Garuda? I never bothered to test.)

Said glitch also works on Garuda (and really anything with a "outer ring" type battlefield.) The script they wrote seems to not know how to handle it, since as long as you don't get into their LoS they stay broken for the entire fight. I think it was even reported on OF but SE brushed it off since they don't like to take visual evidence.

Wait wait. This glitch. Can it be explained to me haha, otherwise I understand it as:

    1. So... as MCH .... put turret outside of ring in Garuda/Ifrit (not titan because no ring)
    2. Get sight aggro
    3. Drag Garuda/Ifrit to turret (I think i need to perform a simple action on them first though to get the turret to respond)
    4. gg, Garuda/Ifrit becomes a training dummy? Or do I still get aggro
(any specific instructions here? Destinye says not to get into their line of sight)

I'll happily try for some ponies myself or with 1 other person without resorting to making friends/keep a group of random PF potatoes together

It basically sounds like once they attempt to target something outside of the range they can reach, their AI breaks until they actively 'see' a new target.
