Did like 100 Thordan X's this weekend looking for clear. I know the mechanics inside and out.
Finally get into an uber clear party but had to come SMN to do so. I am always BLM for Thordan....Never played SMN there but hoped I could wing it.
Screwed up and died. Got up and got pushed into wall. Then I got the tether during the knight phase. Could not survive with my weakened HP. Kicked.
I hate this game so much sometimes....
Wow's been making me happy lately with their max level "fun" stats. Multi-strike (double attack/spell cast), leech (hp absorb), mastery (unique stat to each specific spec of each job), versatility (damage delivered/health recovered), ect.
Fun shit. Of course there's always a "best" stat to shoot for in a raid setting, but its fun as fuck firing off multiple fireballs due to high multishot stat, especially when each has a separate chance to crit and give me more crit procs for other, bigger spells that can also multistrike and proc themselves.
ive never played (nor will I prolly ever play) WoW, but when I was reading about their Artifact weapon system and how fucking cool they sound (giving you entire new abilities and talent trees or something?) all I could think of was "Well, 14 will never have something like this"
I was actually thinking about it, and the new materia system would be a perfect way to fix this issue. They don't want particular pieces of equipment being "absolutely better" than others? Ok. Well, since every piece of gear is now getting materia slots, why not add materia with special effects? Add materias with store TP, save TP, refresh procs, regen procs, life drain, additional damage procs, double attack procs, etc... you can then go out and do the content for the gear, then get the materias via whatever methods they become available and attach them to whatever gear youd like. Maybe add restrictions on the materia so that you cant fill every different piece of gear with the same stat, like only hands can be slotted with double attack and life drain, only feet can have movement speed and evasion, etc.
Can even make special job specific materias and bring back the class/job guild point systems to buy them with. Things like ability cooldown reductions or potency increases, or maybe something more mundane like ability animation changes or something fun like that.
The system is open to so many things and it's sad to know they'll never utilize it.
When FFXIV was first announced with a materia system, I seriously thought it would become like you described (a la FF7).
Then all we got was a shitty WoW Jewelcraft system (in WoW gear have ... holes... you socket a jewel into such hole... for basic stat boosts... mandatory).
It's the Evolith system that was bad, the Adoulin augment system was actually pretty good (especially the not RNG version they introduced where you just go down specific routes.)
I had my hopes up because 1.x actually had actual stats to gear and 2.0 teaser showed promise that they could extend it because NEW ENGINE! NEW POSSIBILITIES!...only for it to feel even more primitive than before.
I wonder how often you can repeat yourself over 2 topics?
I dunno, but its still pretty pointless of a comment. There's nothing for people to do -but- to repeat the same things over and over again in here. What's changed? What, on the horizon is changing? SE is moving with the deftness and haste of a pregnant sloth in terms of refining and expanding on their new money maker. What is there for the die-hards to do but lament what could have been?
I don't blame anyone in here for complaining anymore. Apparently you don't get it until you just... do, one day, and then the shroud is lifted, and all becomes clear to see.
Then get out if you dont like "this forum"
While the game may have gone through different versions, this forum hasn't really changed since 1.0. Same complaints, new scapegoat, different posters (or same).
That's because at it's core, the game is still the same, too. It's just smaller, easier, and more playable.
Trying to get my weekly upgrade item from Void Ark. Get into a group midway through, ready to fight third boss - awesome should be done in ten mins! Group wipes on the first set of ads and votes abandon. Come on this boss isn't that hard! I wonder if this is even worth bothering with since 3.2 is near. My current ilevel should be high enough to access the new dungeons.
