A friend was telling me that last night he had groups outright wiping to the adds in phase one because DPS was so bad they couldn't down the steam nodes. His second group had a tank with the mentor tag on who didn't know how to tank swap.

If you have done A8N through the DF as much as I have, this is actually par for the course. I would say over half of my DF attempts have ended at the enrage. I've always gone as MT and can shepherd even some pretty derpy folks through various mechanics, but I can't teach you how to DPS. Have you ever seen five Perpetual Rays cycle through before the split (should be 3)? Have you ever seen three Execution (add) phases before the split (should be one)? I have and it's just mind-boggling. Killing all four execution adds in Phase I is actually an exceptional result; most groups barely get through 3.
I just came back from a lengthy break and it seems like Party Finder is just not as robust as it used to be; have been unable to fill a full party over the past two nights for A8N. I have beat it a few times, but my lotting luck is terrible. I'll take any drop at this point, but I honestly don't know if I'll even be able to get another win tonight.
It would be so nice if you could only que for a certain DF/PF if you passed the Stone, Sea, and Sky DPS check for that trial. You can even make it an optional thing for party leaders to set so casuals won't whine.
Qarn HM, WHM happens to d/c right as tank pulls this pack:

Of course, tank gets snared first, then myself since I went in. BLM stood there like a moron and it nearly took TWO MINUTES for the mobs to kill both me and tank. Then this gem decides to defend himself:
games hard omg
Yeah - I mean as MCH I can solo down one add...a MCH. There should be no excuses for 3 other DPS not able to take out at least 1 or 2 in the time it takes me to get 1 down which even then is only a few seconds. I regret queuing as DRK every time because I know 9/10 I'll end up with DPS who can't dps.
As nice as it would be, people will bitch and cry about content being "inaccessible" and "it should be available to everyone."
They'd actually have to instance SSS first, since making it mandatory would mean people waiting in a line for one of the ten available training dummy spots to open up.
Pretty fucking stupid given BLM two-shots the hands. Boss spends all year on one castbar attack that does a measly 1.5k dmg, which still baffles me to this day. It should have always been a one-shot.
As off tank WAR I do a small lap around the arena hitting the adds in A8N, or make a beeline for the add with the highest HP to help DPS. I rather not have the explosion go off.
I cleared it last night before bed, was fun. The group learned fast and we enraged at 29%. Group was "oh..." and then the next attempt everyone just upped their game and DPSed it very fast. It was almost like we were lazy the first time around.
It appears that on some servers, the mentor system is being abused(haha) by the mentors.
I kinda regret resigning(still 20+ days left to get it back) since it pleases me that many green leaf players are truly willing to learn the game but aren't getting that on some servers, or the help they get is drowned out by chatter/drama from other mentors.
I don't know how it is on ragnarok yet.
Joined a PF last night and we knocked out a few wins quickly; got the shaft I wanted(queue up the Archer "phrasing" meme)
I got so sick of it that I started dragging the boss over near the left front add to drop a Royal Authority or two on it along with a Circle of Scorn / Spirits.
I'm going to push hard for all drops tonight. I think the issue gets worse the longer you wait to do it.Originally Posted by Lujei
It's about 80/20 on those that can/can't, in my experience. Faust is one of those things that lets you tell if the run is going to go smoothly or not. Fortunately, most groups do tend to vote abandon if you can't beat Faust after 2-3 tries, because that's just a sign of shit not being able to work at all.
The bigger problem, in my experience, is that we're already at the muh deepz phase for the Gorillas and the refusal of even some OTs to help with the set of 3 bombs.
Just had an absolute fuckpocalypse of a party in Cutters. Almost 40 mins with a SCH wearing STR jewelry and BRD spamming straight shot. Both didn't say anything when I pointed it out. Why do I even keep doing this shit.
Between EX Roulette, Trial Roulette, and two runs of Midas, all have had DRGs with at least two VIT accessories on.
What fresh hell have I stumbled into now?
Maybe SE fucked up the VIT = attack formular and it currently secretly works? lol
Or, they assume because it works for tanks, it'll work for them!![]()
Probably using Vit accessories to get into the actual dungeons and not switching them off, since I don't see why someone with actual native use for STR accessories (DRG) would buy VIT stuff lol even if they did mess up on it. Then again..with this community, I'm honestly not surprised, because even with all that extra VIT, they don't seem to be living any longer.
So I did Grubal Library before bed, and on each pull the DRG wasn't avoiding any AOEs. I knew right there what kind of hell I would have with the first boss and sure enough I was right. Each and every time the "gloomy" AOEs would pop up, I would pre-select him getting ready for the rain of esunas he'd receive from me >_>. It was going OK until the other DPS got hit with all those status - that was hard but I got them through it. DRG who for the whole fight didn't avoid those AOEs, ended up dying twice anyway, despite my efforts, and the last was right as I used assize, I really really hate when that happens. He was a liability and I just left him there, though he apologized after.
Skipping to the last boss, I also knew this guy would plant those orbs in random spots and within vicinity of the tank, who had to move the boss away from it each time.
