First Titan EX attempt we all freak the fuck out hysterically when the first Geocrush area shows up, still the highlight of my playtime alongside our T5/9/13 first clears. Nobody really bossed anyone around or got super offended at being called out and we didn't care about world/server/whatever first, just set modest goals like "beat tier before the next patch" and "beastly DPS" and met it for Binding/Second/Final so we were all pretty happy. IIRC we basically never had problems meeting a DPS check, most of us just derped on mechanics.
I wholly admit it's not the norm though. I've never had a "bad" experience with a static because I only ever had to go with one (1 CoP static in XI, 1 HNMLS until I quit, 1 XIV static). So while I can sympathize and guess that the problem boils down to clashing egos and easily lit tempers, I can't really say that isn't typical I guess? I mostly got into those good groups by association for what it's worth. I knew someone already in it from a more casual circle and got invited eventually.
But yeah, the drama is never really all that good/exciting. I think the worst that we ever got was our PLD ragequit the game on T9 learning because of blowing him up with Ravensbeak explosion too much or something? And some loot drama because he couldn't decide on a secondary job while simultaneously complaining he got the least loot. XIV drama is like office drama.
I will say it doesn't help that a huge majority of the "good" playerbase is usually all spoken for, quit, or (rarely) has such a shitty personality that nobody wants to take them. What you're left with is people who just generically suck, people who suck and are oblivious, or people who suck and can't take criticism. None of which form a very productive group especially when now you basically need all 8/8 to be on board with mechanics instead of like 5-6/8 with 1-3 carries in Coil. There are a handful of "off the radar heroes", we picked up more than a few as replacements in our static, but it's definitely not the norm.
