Yepppp. I'm doing those now after a good year or so of boycotting the shit out of scrips. I never was a crafter but I like gathering and especially fishing, too bad scrips ruined both crafting and gathering. The gear gating is ridiculous and it's getting out of hand when they have to make an activity that was somewhat fun the complete opposite of fun just to satisfy their requirement that players not be allowed to have nice things.

The crafting portion didn't bother me after patch 3.3 when all around gear was introduced. But having to farm 5000 scriptures x6 for books when I'm looking at about 1k/hr (Not incl red scriptures).

To think this stuff was harder at 3.0.

Illuminati are great for Scrips, the Hinderland Perches (the other fish you catch there) desynth into SS IV material, so you can make gil while you get scrips. Either sell them or turn them in for V chances.

I also did Cuprite for collectables.

trials roulette. three DPS die to AoEs right before Nidhogg adds/DPS check. we wipe of course, because I can't do all the damage on my own and it took the healers too long to get everyone back up. as we're getting ready to try again:

(one of the dead DPS): "need to kill adds faster"
(one of the tanks): "need to not die to AoEs"

I should have screenshotted that exchange, it was perfect.

Too bad perches are selling for 750 gil anyway. I found out that there's a medium tug that's 90% Illuminati tho. (Small chance its sweetfish). Still a really good tip. Been using the crap out of this and its much nicer.

Would you recommend patience or patience II tho.

I usually just use Patience 1, since Patience 2 drops you too low in GP (I'm still sitting at 600 GP though, haven't really upgraded gathering stuff yet).

Even with fully melded ironworks (with some frankly terrifying overmelds that I've wasted mils on already) you're only going to be at 700GP max w/o food.

It's really too bad I can't tell the tugs apart, never have been able to, even with a controller w/vibration. I pull up so many crap fish. I also only use Patience I, it seems wasteful to use II as you run too low on GP.

I really wish SE didn't completely fuck up gathering with HW. Life was comparatively so great as a gatherer before then, even with annoying-ass fish like Giant Taki and Shonisaurus. I still don't fully understand the btn/min collection method, it's so counterintuitive, they added so many extra (useless) abilities, and there are so many ways of fucking it up. Miss the node, forget to put on collector's glove, have too little GP when you engage the node, get fucked by rngesus and end up gathering 0 items, etc... It's awful. And favors are like that nightmare compounded. At least there are no achievements I will feel compelled to do for those.

You have your tanks at 60, have some decent gear. How the fuck do you not know how to tank swap, or understand provoking a mob when told when you have a 10-15 second window to do so?!

Was running the mentor roulette(Kill me) and got Garuda EX. Okay, no problem. DPS is doing an okay job, MT is not completely retarded, and no one asked any questions. I take OT, because I prefer to keep the Spiny first(usually goes on OT for some reason), and to keep Chirada from wrecking bitches. Cue the MT not knowing to pick up EITHER add with Garuda(okay...), and then me having to swap roles with him, just so he has an easier time with placements and such. Cue him not knowing to provoke the Spiny off me any time, and just letting me get to 3 stacks, almost wiping the raid that way, too. So, I fully explain the tank swap(he had no idea what it even meant), and at this point, about 60% of his gear is outright broken. Protip: If your OT has less HP than a healer, the Spiny will go onto a healer next. Now, add in trying to provoke the plume off of a healer, keep aggro on said plume without killing it, AND try and DPS down Suparna at the same time, and you've got my reason for Vote Abandon. Not to mention the now-OT would provoke and then do his 1-2-3 combo on the Spiny and kill it before needing to, and you have found the reason I drink.

ARR Ex primals in mentor roulette is like salt in a wound. You're already running mentor roulette and bound to get something lame, but ex primals are not only lame, they're literally pointless to do capped. And no one can ever pull them off properly.

Hey, at least I do my best to try and educate for a good 20-30 minutes before giving up. Some people just don't listen, or won't listen! I'm allowed to complain about that.

I gotta say again this has been really helping out. Though the Squeenix fishing systems are clamping down on me so I gotta go back to harvesting timed nodes.

Got 2 99 stacks of blue script and got all my i180 Botanist and fishing gear out of this though.

    But srsly tho this sucks.

Oh man look at this shit.

These types of 24-man groups have such an impact on the game and will break the balance of a match. Therefore, we do plan to implement a counter-measure for this matter.

To go into details of the counter-measure, no matter how many people there are in your party, if you queue with your party, you will randomly be grouped with players that belong to other Grand Companies. Of course, there’s still a chance that you might end up being grouped with players from the same Grand Company, so we plan to make adjustments to the matching algorithm to try to prevent this as much as possible. You will still be able to select a Grand Company if you queue solo, so we understand the fact that there will be players that will try to exploit the system to group together. We will keep a close eye on this matter and plan to make adjustments if necessary....

We apologize to those of you that take pride in the Grand Company that you belong to, but this was the route we decided to take based on the current state of the Frontline matches. Thank you for your cooperation.
Whiny bitches who are only in it for achievements can't handle sucking at pvp and so the people who actually care about it have to suffer for it. Good old XIV logic.

    BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE:

It’s simply too difficult to tell the players to stop spawn camping due to the effectiveness, so the best way to counter-act this is to make design changes. We sincerely apologize for those that were affected by this issue, and for not implementing a perfect design from the start.
    loooooooool

Oh, and this really belongs in the OF fail thread, but apparently this was partly an answer to the epic bitchfest found here:
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-and-Patch-3.5

Being exposed to full premades for so long, losing over and over, led me to frustration and into the mentality; "If you can't beat em', join em". Therefore, I took it into my own hands to start a party finder on my old server, and recruited like-minded players that wanted to premade, to try and somehow counter this. Keep in mind, this wasn't the right choice...
It absolutely was the right choice, congrats on finding it and then promptly trashing the idea of being a useful/intelligent member of the community.

Spawn campaign isn't fun and I support the endeavor to put in mechanics to make it undesirable for people to do it but cutting back on premades. Nah

Though pre-made frontline as a 24 man alliance is the best. Reminds me of the good 'ol Planetside days.

Allowing full premades vs full PUG is retarded and has always been retarded in every PVP game ever made, I don't understand how this is even a discussion or how they took this long to address it but it's something that is eventually limited if not outright culled in most games I can think of, for good reason.

Plenty of arguments in the thread you linked (which is in no way a bitchfest) but: it's not a challenge for the organized team and it's not fun for the PUG team. If people actually cared about premade PVP they'd be doing premade Feast or asking for premade-only Frontlines - let's not pretend full teams queueing against PUGs are interested in much beyond farming easy wins, it barely feels like PVP most of the time on either side of the fence.

However do feel free to miss the point of the change entirely, ignore the explanation given, and then blame it on people being "whiny bitches who only care about achievements".

Meanwhile you're the one doing Mentor Roulette purely for achievements and whining when the guys you were supposed to help want to do the duty they directly and consciously queued for. Why do you think having to make 24man premades should be "the right choice" in order to participate in the casual PVP mode of XIV when you can't even bring yourself to do 3-4man premades for WT? Is this XIV logic? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

EDIT: the more posts I read in that thread the less I understand how you could call that a bitchfest, it's so tame and civilized compared to every single PVP thread made on the OF it's just unreal. Some of you guys reach way too hard when it comes to finding reasons to bitch about other forums.

I don't like pvp all that much (though I like it more now that I've been doing it every day and getting better at it) and yeah I run up against premades all the time. Flames (which I'm on) are almost always full PUG and Adders are very often premade. We lose far more than we win. But I'm not going to cry about it. Adders cared enough to make a premade and take pvp seriously, whereas the people who are pugging generally do not, and don't even try to use any sort of strategy. I don't see why premades - the people who actually care about pvp - should be punished for that.

And yes, in XIV, restricting premades to "premade-only" would be a punishment. Because even with the Garo event, there just aren't enough people taking pvp that seriously for premades to readily find groups at all hours, at least not on Aether. What Yoshi is proposing - having no more than 1 premade party per alliance - is certainly the middle ground but it's still a coddling gesture. When I look at the frequent pvpers posting and shouting about enjoying their GC premades I can't help but think it's a loss for the community somehow, even if I'm not part of that community. The last real community spirit centered around GCs was for pvpers to take pride in their teams, but with freelance and now the restrictions on premades, that's being taken away. And honestly, I'm tired of things being changed to suit the lowest common denominator. People who put the most effort into the game are always getting spit on by SE, and that's just really sad to see.

Also, just because I'm doing pvp for achievements like everyone else, doesn't mean I'm content to put 0 effort in. Like I said, I've gotten better at it and I'm learning. I'm not a competitive person and I'll never be a true pvp hero or whatever, but I'm never going to complain about someone who is obviously putting in more effort than I am (aka premades).

As for the dig at me for mentor roulette, ARR primals are simply the worst because new people queue it for their quest; they don't know they can PF it uncapped. PF is apparently a total mystery to many new players. I have no problem teaching them whatever, but they have to be capable of listening and winning. I'm sure you've also learned this from DF, unless you've been incredibly lucky, but usually they are not either of those things. Any other mentor roulette I tend to have no problem with because there is no ridiculously easy way to circumvent the limitations on the other stuff in mentor, but ARR primals truly are a waste of time to do capped. I consider teaching someone that there's a simple way to catch up to be just as much teaching as teaching them the fight.

100% the bold part. I am, and have always been, willing to teach people mechanics if they have no fucking clue. I've done everything possible during the failed EX primals to get people to move to proper areas, do mechanics and teach them. Hell, I had a 60 tank have no idea about tank swapping and, even though I explained his job clearly and concisely, he still kept doing it wrong.

As for PVP, I got one or two pieces of the Garo set, and I just couldn't. I like PvP to an extent in most games, I'm just bad, and I know I'll always be bad at it.

Yeah mostly on the NA datacenters. On the JP Datacenter I play on it's expected you use the PF to practice (outside of forming clear/farm groups) and DF with the goal of clearing or at least knowing what the fuck is going on and not queuing into it so you can derp around and act like the game never taught you the basics by time you hit level 60, at least how people on aether seem to be. It doesn't always happen but I've played long enough to see a drastic difference.

That's why there's even any complaints about Raid Finder because you can't queue in trying to get a carry as once you clear you can be added to a pool of players that don't die to every easy mechanic, so RF is fairly lowly used.
