Largely because it works as intended 99% of the time on JP Datacenter. I believe you can vote kick in PoTD as you can fill slots in progress, but it's been awhile since I did it. In Derpadem your party fills 'previous' instances so you have parties with varying times in there so its impossible to fill slots.
You can vote kick in POTD, but getting replacements in there seems to require people to have the "join party in progress" thing selected through the old duty finder. Just guessing on that but it seems like very few groups ever manage to find replacements for something as common as 51-60 and the only time I ever seem to get parties in progress is when I have that option selected.
I am forever going to complain about the "join party in progress" not being on by default in general.
It is weird, it's also another thing I kind of laugh about when they "drop PS3 support so the game will be infinitely better now!!!1" it seems they make the oddest of design choices. I can understand with XI and how they had to add onto menus given how old the core design is..but there is literally nothing preventing them from (re)adding stuff to the main menu. It won't hinder the PS3. It won't hinder the PS4. It won't hinder people running on toasters.
It's just...an unnecessary change but "maybe" they have something planned that required a separate menu since it does give a bit more info on some options, but even that could be handled via tooltip/help text. I just find it kind of funny people lavish XIV in praises for doing what most people complain about in gaming, hell even in terms of SE's products people complain about confirmation prompts (1.x) and "long hallways!" (ala XIII) which comprises majority of XIV's content that isn't a circle arena or hub fields to do FATEs.
It's such a weird thing.
I still love all the doors and things that ask for confirmation about wanting to open them when there would not ever be a situation where you would hit no. >.>
Just started my anima lights
Done an expert roulette
I'm at 12/2000
I want to quit already
As a casual scum can I join an A1S/A9S (or whichever is the preferred hard mode to grind on) and run it blind?
I've got capacity to learn the fights, but I'm just too lazy to go even look. Is there a 3 line guide? i.e.
A1S
- DPS hard
- Dodge
- Run to X during Y
A1S is easier to farm than T4 was for Nexus lights.
Hm, ok, I did see a video of A1S before briefly. I am guessing it's easier because we zerg most if not all of the boss's HP down before it splits into 2, and if it does split into 2 we won't see most of the mechanics because the encounter will end before he comes a threat?
It forces a split @ 20%? some number like that, and so you do have to kill both pretty close to each other. The adds if they're up will also disappear at that point so don't bother with them.
Only mechanic that's annoying is the puddle placement if done really badly, and even then you can still do it.
You literally just dps the boss and dodge, don't need to do mechanics. (ignore the alarums as they despawn when the 0.5 comes out)
This was when I was farming A1S when it first came out. I don't know what the dps for randoms are like now.
Excellent. I'll catch an A1S group then when lights are good.
And what about the other 2 or 3? Whichever one is used to farm. I think A9.
(if people whine about bonus I'll just say I'm an pro raider that's playing on friend's account)
edit: and if i fail at that, i'll pull out my usual blame lags "ps3 lag, vita lag, ps4 lag, xbox lag"

I did duty finder A1S farm, occasionally there is one guy with bonus but it's not a problem.
A9S you should get a clear first as there are a few things that can go wrong if you go in blind.
Oh, excellent idea, I absolutely forgot A1S is in duty finder. I was half dreading the commitment of needing to stay in my PF group haha. Thanks. I'll skip A9S for now, will view video later and read up a little.
A1S is the best to farm. You get 12/2k lights regardless within 3 minutes.
I felt like that too at the beginning, I'm a tank like you and most of the time people want to go A1S with only one tank which made the PF situation difficult sometimes, you will need to do it maybe 95 to 105 times to have your relic done.
I am trying to make a BLM relic now, can't be assed to farm crystals in fate so I wanted to farm light on a Novus which remained unfinished, I did 4 Garuda Hard and gave up pretty quickly as well, this shit is so slow even after 2 years...
Aye, I've accepted defeat. I'll just do it gradually; pvp a day, 1 or 2 24mans a day (I can use some of the first 2 24man coins) and maybe a dungeon. Will join normal A1-A12 for bonus in PF for a bit of light when I can.
The very sad thing is, looking at the light tracker, no one reports much on it. There's so little "choice" to do lights on. I would've forgiven it if I had to grab 1000 lights instead of 2000.
But blurgh. I'll do it by Stormblood for sure, but I ain't gonna rush.
If you're farming a ARR relic just do Tam Tara 20 times unsynced.
For HW A1S is best unless you're farming savage 9 or 10. Honestly the nice thing about this relic is I can have i200 through i260 ready to complete beforehand.
I dono man, i managed to finish all my anima lights in 2 days solely doing A1S bonus runs. I spent about 3 hours each day. Breaking it down within a few days, you can get it done very quickly. In 1 dun scaith run, you get 24 lights usually those last minimum 30-40 minutes, you could've gotten 240-360 lights by just doing a1s farm with bonus.
