Balmung here, just confirming that the forced logout shit dropped our primetime login queue from 3.5k to 1k, approximately. So that intern's idea really did work, and cut a basically unplayable 3 hour wait down to 1 hour.

Got hit by that shitty bug on the PS4 version that makes you re-download 22gigs of updates. Guess I'm done playing for a while.
At first it was linked to power outages while playing the game. Then people who weren't getting power outages started getting affected (like me). I've read it's happened to a few PC players as well, but nowhere near as much as PS4 players it looks like.
edit: I should mention someone claimed they fixed it by downloading their system and character saves from PSN. I had already deleted my install so I couldn't try it. No harm in trying it if it happens though.
I feel bad for anyone that has to download any large file size on the PS4, I roll my eyes and go to bed if I have to download an update for a game that I want to play on my console. It's so fucking slow compared to downloading a patch or file for PC. Glad I really only use the thing for one or two games and then just sits there and collects dust. I can download a 60gb file in 1 hours where as it takes me an hour to download a 8gb file on ps4.
Aye, my server (Cerb) had it's queue dropped from 1.5-3k to a 200 at prime time last night. Not only that, but the server seems alot smoother now, less hickups and shit. Despite my ping being 16-55, I still had random hickups once it became prime-time in DF or (heavy) populated areas.
Looks like they finally acknowledged the issue at least. Though it says related to the PS4 not being shut down properly. For me, I logged out, closed the application, watched Netflix for a bit, then started the game back up and got hit with the update.

Narrowing down to the list that probably should have been the only affected servers to begin with.
Yay, can't wait for this forced logout tomorrow at noon followed by an hour+ login queue to get back in.
I don't know if it is the number of people, the DDOS, the move to california, or FIOS, but my connection experience has been complete shit since coming back
So I'm in this keeper of the lake for msq, group is terrible, multiple wipes on first and second boss. All of a sudden server reset happens. Fml. Come back in pretty fast no que at least. 20 minutes left to finish with this terrible group and one guy doesn't come back.
Barely got it done in time.
Kugane brings out the worst in FXAA and makes me wish XIV had alternative anti-aliasing solutions already, or a built-in downscaler since nVidia's DSR is still kinda fucky.
That and their shadow engine needing an option to boost the resolution further. The lack of general extra graphical options this expansion was rather disappointing for me.
