Oh I know that, I was not speaking one word of English when I started XI so I know exactly what you mean, you'd be a proper burden for your team if you could not communicate.

But then I remember having my fair share of idiots insulting/bellitling me because my English was not perfect, we are talking 12 years back, I still see it happen to others today.

2nd pull, SAM no AoE, BLM AOE

I suggest to tank we shouldn't do big pulls, as the SAM cannot AoE.
The tank doesn't respond.

For the rest of dungeon, tank pulls big wherever he can

We painfully fight each group slowly. I can only heal or burn all my MP before mobs are 50% and dying slowly ;___;

Since that place has 'big pulls' by default, I take it you mean.. from what I've experienced lately and coin it appropriately: Suicide pulls. Like pulling the 2 big iron giant dudes into the horses, or taking the first pull of the dungeon to the second pull(or even all the way to the third before the last group near the first boss). That's all doable, but the if they gonna group the iron giants with the damn horses, then some stunning from everyone has to come into play or that's just a ton of Medica spam. That being said, pulling like that there just turns an otherwise 15min dungeon into 25, for me at least.

Yeah DPS don't AOE anymore, so I stopped caring about the size of my pulls, even though they still run a bit past me due to them being used to other tanks pulling 5-6 packs. >_>

First experience of a player that truly pissed me off since I returned for SB, though I grant I did not really handle the initial "challenge" well.

So whenever I end up with a PLD as my other tank in Omega normal (I'm DRK) they always go shield oath. I expect it. It makes sense. But I get one who just stands there in sword oath. We sit there for 2 minutes before he just says "Grit". I wait another minute because this is absurd to me. But I give up and pull. For icing on the cake though he's occasionally using Halone and actively runs away from every single Twin Bolt. Claims he forgot a few mechanics.

Legitimately mad. If you're a tank who doesn't know mechanics that's generally all the more reason to just do it. Thankfully I rolled a 99 on my drop after.

I just meant he just wouldn't pull at all. I consider it unspoken rule that PLD is designated MT in DF and I think many would agree. Partially because public sentiment towards the job will take a couple patches to change. I don't even need to mention all the PLDs who ignore req spirit.

I never go into queue with Grit up. I wait a couple seconds to see what the other tank is and if they put up tank stance, indicating they are the alpha tank and I should fall in line.

He was not a good PLD is what I was getting at. I still MTd without Grit after opener.

Nothing if you're main tanking really. Usually it's the PLD who pulls but given that SB put them high up on the tank DPS chain I guess some just stick to Sword Oath and prefer to off tank.

I'll sometimes volunteer to tank as DRK for Deltascape 4, since you can do some frankly silly things between Dark Mind and The Blackest Night, even with marginal healers. But if that's what you want, there's lot clearer ways to say it, and needs must say outright if you aren't planning to tankswap.

I fully admit in my case I was being an equally stubborn dick about the "issue". I just assumed after something like 20 other PLDs who defaulted to pull/shield without any prompting that it was an unspoken continuing norm from HW.

It makes almost no difference to me outside of the opener. I suppose my bigger complaint is co-tanks in 4 without Shirk in DF. One WAR used Butcher a lot as OT so when he spiked hate I just shirked into him and let him keep it.

Speaking of X without Y, the number of healers running around without Esuna set is disturbing.

I'll open as PLD but I don't play around with swaps in O4. As soon as they decide to take it, they are tanking the rest of it. PLD is more useful as an off tank in that fight than main tank. Cover can eat the Thunder III needed to have the debuff timer reset for whomever is MT at that point. Even if you don't cover, 2 stack won't kill a tank who is properly using CDs.

My only critique against that is that I rarely ever see OT PLDs use Cover in DF. Most of them are vegetables. Many don't even do Req-Spirit spam.

For O4 I agree, but outside of O4 what relevant encounter really needs Esuna?

"Relevant" is debatable but some dungeons it's absolutely required in roulette land. Sastasha HM for one.

Side note, healers suck at that boss even with Esuna.

The healers on the OF also think Esuna is useless.

I personally don't.

(Remembers LoO: Chaotic Eye, and Blaster and the only two spells ever needed there was Silena and Paralyna and using it on the tank in the other party because their healer couldn't do it or didn't have them.)

OK DF is not 'relevant' content, I guess, but if you get nailed with bad breath, yes I'm the guy that will esuna every last effect off that can be removed. First boss in library, my finger is on the esuna button because someone, or all three is gonna get nailed by the floor AOEs.

Something I always hated before i quit

Is it just me that if i go heal a normal then I and tank that same dungeon, i know what to do?

I think this kind of leads back to the issue of how balls the cross role/class system truly is. Pretty much all jobs are stuck with mandatory abilities that take up slots. If something becomes mandatory then it should be moved to the jobs naturally and replaced with something else that makes it a competitive choice with other items in the selection.

Off the top of my head, the most egregious ones of these tends to be Protect and Rampart. No tank is going to give up Rampart. A healer may swap out protect but it's going to be up nearly all the time anyways. Just build it into the damage calculations and make protect similar to pvp version or something. Why are these in here if they are just going to eat a slot anyways?

The point is, if you need Esuna, obviously you're going to enable it. But 90% of content out there don't require Esuna and by default healers should not put it in their role actions imo.
