The AST in my levelling roulette just now had their twitch channel as their character name and didn't cast a single damage spell the entire dungeon. I went to their channel to laugh and they weren't even broadcasting.

Slowest DREX in a while this morning. These two dps were just slow. Yah tank queues are the best, but man to bad dps really ruin the experience.

Seeing the world from a sprout POV on my alt...mentors really are the worst :D Leveling my GLD and had a RDM mentor in copperbell who insisted on running ahead and pulling mobs. I've heard about this a lot but never actually seen it before. So I told him I've never seen it since I started playing on Primal and he said "u must be new to xiv".

Well no kid, no, just not used to blatant displays of dps fuckery :D Aether gets a lot of bullshit but that doesn't tend to be one of them in my experience. To his credit he did stop pulling stuff after that. I know there's that "gotta go fast" mindset in dungeons but if you're with a bunch of sprouts maybe don't do it. Until he knew my char was an alt I bet he was having a merry time taking advantage of the poor sprouts in that dungeon.

So far I've noticed better/more interesting glams on Diabolos than Siren, but Diabolos is most definitely the more immature community of players and Primal seems overall the worse datacenter. Stay tuned for Part 2, reflections on endgame...

Unless you got the confidence and classes for gotta-go-fast on leveling dungeons, only reason to zip ahead in Copperbell mines is because a few mobs actually leash in there and de-aggro, so you can abuse that to kill less mobs overall for a slight speedup in clear time.

But also, it's Copperbell. Everyone is a tank at that range, doesn't really matter if someone is pulling ahead really. But yes, Mentor crowns are usually a sign of a shitter.

No it doesn't matter who tanks that dungeon, but you should be helping sprouts learn their job at that level, not steamrolling them, lest you have complaints about them later.

I was technically not a sprout but he didn't know that. Just an overall selfish mentality that bugs me.

I love taking pot shots at mentors. I always say something like "don't worry he's a mentor, he knows what he's doing" lol, assuming he does something retarded

Long as the healer isn't a complete tool then I usually just whack stuff retardedly until the dungeon is done. This is pretty much the case up until 30, but I only do it with a healer I know because chances are randoms can't even keep the tank alive.

I've had several dungeons where I've left because the healer was standing around while I died and only casted cure on me when I'm sub 100 hp.

So, this isn't really a complaint, more of a question. I just started releveling WHM after over a year of inactivity on it. And I noticed this...

So, is Aero III 40 potency or 50 potency. Because if it's 50 potency it's actaully better than Aero II ALL THE TIME since it has a higher duration.

50 is initial hit potency, 40 is dot potency?

You're definitely not new to XIV, did you really not the first number is the hit and the one further down is the DoT tick potency? Nearly every job has a DoT skill, and every DoT skill is described like that. The only jobs I think that lack a DoT (post SB patch) are WAR, DRK, MCH, and RDM.

With that said, the point of Aero 3 is that it's an AOE skill that puts the DoT on a bunch of targets, rather than just 1. For single target, Aero 2 is better (assuming you re-apply it once it wears off), for multiple targets, Aero 3 wins. As Stig mentions below, apparently the two effects stack, so you can use both. If it was a straight superior skill, they would've just given you another Aero Mastery trait to overwrite the old skill.

If you've played BLM, they do the same thing there with Thunder. Thunder is single target, Thunder 2 is AOE. Thunder 3 is single target and replaces Thunder 1, and Thunder 4 is AOE and replaces Thunder 2, so you always have two thunder options depending on your situation.

Also, Aero 2 and 3 stack, so, use both regardless lol, even on single target

    not sure about thunder though

Ah, I didn't know that. I haven't touched WHM since SB hit. For BLM, the Thunder effects don't stack.

Good to know. I've not touched BLM yet so I asked. But yeh both Aero's stack for WHM, so for multi target it's best to Aero 3, then Aero 2 whatever you can between healing if spamming holy/stone is not possible (movement, people taking damage, etc)

Most of them never ever talk. I have yet to see a mentor that isn't doing it only for the bonus and/or mount.

Funnily enough after reading some of the latest posts when I got a mentor in DR leveling who fucking sucked. Could barely heal me (the tank) on single pulls and I had to blow every CD including Living Dead on the first double pull of Violet Tides and even being super cautious and never dropping Grit they still let me die on one of the bosses.

Beware of mentors, it's the new shitter status.

Most don't want to hear anything about whatever they're fighting because SPOILERS OMG WTF LET ME LEARN ON MY OWN. Followed swiftly with a vote abandon.

It's been that way since it was released. There are only two types of mentors:

    (1) People who want the icon/mount
    (2) People who think being max level makes them a mentor to others, meaning they are bad

If only there was a way to complain about them, and would cause them to get stripped off of their title. Thus forcing them to actually redeem themselves under GM supervision. Lol

There aren't enough GMs in the world to take on that duty.
