Reminds me of the time a WHM let me die because I pulled instead of his tank buddy like it really made a difference who was tanking.

Could get myself motivated to log in and do a DREX, end up in Kugane Castle with a very good PLD but the BRD just walk and AFK Auto attack at mobs packs, this goes on until the 1st boss. During the 1st boss I get a lack spike of about 8 sec and dies because of it as I was far and got the cleave while lagging. Apologise and explain that I had a lag to which the PLD reply "np, I saw you red for a while"

1st boss down BRD restart his bs and auto attack AFK to each packs, right before 2nd boss I initiate vote kick for being AFK, which is when I realised SCH and BRD were together. This is whats follows;

(Casual Grill) why?
(Cerulean Knight) seriously
(Lyre Mahariel) she's not afk
(Seanna Di'lutina) i'm here

Glad to see the community in this game is still hasn't improved. I was checking out the discord servers as I'm thinking about resubscribing and the petty bastard running the Gayorzea discord banned me shortly after joining and probing about where I'm from. Turns out it was created by some dude I was chatting with on Grindr (dating app) a year ago and rejected for being useless. I kid you not. I honestly can't believe my luck. There's like three players total in my city I've met over the years and this dude happened to be running a server wide discord chat.

With that said, the discords are mostly dead anyway. I joined two others - one for the server my character is on and one for the server I'm thinking about transferring to should I return, and pretty much no one is chatting. I hope that's not a reflection of the activity on the game servers for those corresponding discords otherwise there's not much point resubscribing. I'm just going to assume discord isn't the best place to be gauging the current state of the game.

I've never used a discord for anything but I imagine there aren't that many people using it for server-wide chatting as people tend to stay in their own little groups.
I definitely don't play XIV for the community though.
But it's kinda like everything else: as a whole it's shit, but on an individual basis it's not so bad. I add people to my friend list/get added to theirs very regularly on both servers I play on due to little interactions that often repeat themselves. Sometimes I'll get a bad dungeon but most of the time I meet nice people, and often they're even competent. I think on the whole XIV community is much less toxic than most online games as long as you don't go around poking the bear.

I've been using discord for a few months for Pokemon Go in my city (yeah I'm sad) and that server is pretty active and has a good community - probably because "raiding" (if you can call frantically tapping a phone raiding) in that game involves meeting these people in real life. That's mainly what intrigued me about the FFXIV discords. I've been working on updates to my dying XIV site and it's got me wanting to play.

I've not played since about 3.1 so if I resubscribe I'll be starting with no FC and a friend list full of deleted players. Back then I used to hang around the hardcore community but I really have no time for savage style raids any more. Going to be a few weeks before I can resubscribe due to RL commitments so plenty time to figure out which EU server is best to be on.

Even with 4.0 being a difficulty reset for the most part, people are failing the easiest shit or doing terribly bad dps, even though they simplified most jobs in the expansion.

Random complaint: The lag in the fucking gathering menu. Just add a small button beside every node already that just auto-harvests that slot until the node is depleted. Crafting already has quick-synth, and fishing can be pretty much Netflix mode once you release all the fish you don't want to catch. Gathering is still stuck with clicking and waiting.

In a light party DF you only need 2 votes to kick. You only needed the tank to vote with you lol, who cares if the SCH leaves too.

I have to say I quite like some of the 4.0 changes. I mained BLM when I played and I just didn't enjoy it in 3.0 with the way Enochian worked. It seems smoother in 4.0. I'll be tempted to play RDM instead when I resubscribe though, it looks fun.

I hate 4.0 DRG but the changes coming to dragon eyes/life of the dragon should make it more bearable since I'll have life every 90.

I love SAM so much more but hnnngh DRG brings all the buffs.

What brings utility to the party tends to be weaker than what brings nothing to the party. Atleast drg is meta
