I can't criticize terrible players anymore because there is no possible way for me to even attempt being nice about it at this point. I'm talking just the ones with gear that implies they've played more than a little bit that also don't know how to rotation at all (and if you confront them, they get soooo fucking defensive); not (just) legit new players.
This week has been a nightmare in roulette when it comes to tanks, I can forgive it when I see they're new or they say so but those are often better than decently geared tanks. Small pulls, can't hold hate in more than 1 mob and even struggling with that, not positioning yeti properly or hitting small snowballs when I'm pulling mobs for you and dealing with everything... So much bad stuff in general it's really infuriating, but yeah, trying to do something about that is pointless.
But I also had a bad healer situation when doing NIN book. Join aurum Vale, tank is 49, sch is rather well geared. Sch says 'tank pull die', tank responds with 'no I'm here for exp', sch says ok and proceeds to pull whole room, dies fast and says 'take aggro'. I tell him our tank is 49, he can only do small pulls and dude just does this again a couple of times, when we die trying to fight normally. Had to vote kick him
I don't tank in Expert in randoms, but if I did I would point Yeti cone at party members at all times just to make them pay attention.
That's what you're supposed to do.
Drag that fucker to the edge of the arena, point him towards the center so frost breath hits as much of the field as possible (thus hitting as many spriggans/snowballs as possible).
Still on lights, since I took a few month hiatus due to Destiny. I bet I would've gotten it, too.
I kept grabbing extra mobs during pulls, and I also got my head chewed off about it(helping a friend of a FCmate for her Atma book). Then did Brayflox story with them, and she made bigger pulls, making snide remarks here and there. Biting my tongue so hard it bled.
On the topic of Snowcloak tanks:
WHY THE FUCK DO NONE OF THEM PULL TO THE OUTER WALL AND FACE INWARD?! Seriously, it's not rocket surgery. Regen on the tank/myself means all the Spriggans go on me and I can position them properly for easy snowballs.
While we're on the note of tanks that make you wanna kill something: I love the mentality that the tank is the "leader" and they can do no wrong. Regardless of how good/bad, geared/undergeared they are.
Tank in this game is such an easy role in general, and is held to probably the lowest standard next to "parsers are the devil" DPS.
As healer I just place ground markers. 'A' for where I'll be placing spriggans (I never trust DPS to not fuck it up or hit snowballs early), and if the tank looks retarded, a 'B' for where they're to bring the boss.
Game needs more retard-check bosses like that early on though to get noobs acquainted with mechanics. Only boss in lvl-capped dungeons that required a brain was just the copperbell slime boss last I checked.
I now feel bad sine I never did anything to position the spriggans on NIN. I just wail on the Yeti/keep DoTs up until the ogre comes then slaughter him. Occasional launching a snowball too once they've been frosted 3 times.
I'm so tired of fucking healers who refuse to do anything to help me out on this (and then bitch about it, as though I should do everything).
Then again these are also the same healers who refuse to even cast some damaging spells at any point too. Seeing Holy use at any point is sort of rare these days.
Wait, THAT'S why the snowballs disappear? I thought they just kinda... disappeared after X amount of time.
Yeah ogre cones destroy snowballs. You can stun him but in say BRD+BLM I think you're fucked unless the tank does it.
Does Bane knock snowballs around?
