I knew those lasers looked weird. I kinda miss the old ones. Reminded me of the final boss in Ys Seven with his laser dodge spammage.

Anyway... learning PTs for Final Coil being non-existent. I assume once I clear out the 2nd coil I'm going to hit a brick wall and hard, right?

Pretty much. Quit or spend time on all the other stuff the game offers. Casuals, or those not interested in raid-tier content, don't need to care about coil anyways. The tome gear is a perfectly adequate for experiencing and completing the vast majority of the game's battle content.

And that's the problem with coil. Financially speaking, coil is a clear failure in terms of production costs versus the active percentage of the playerbase that's cleared the content. It's wasted creative content. SE decided that it was necessary to make 'story' and 'hard' versions of future raid content to justify the development cost. If you take premier equipment and high difficultly out of the equation, I imagine many more people would do a run-through of coil just to see it and experience the story.

And it's a problem that expectations on production values are as high as they are currently. Every new raid has to be extravagant and unique which wastes a hell of a lot of resources.

XI got a lot of mileage abusing its tiled-environment chunks for late-game content (hi Salvage). We only see that in effect in ARR in just hard mode dungeons and nowhere else. Perhaps things will change with the expansion as they could use to alleviate asset production somehow to churn out more battle content, or get more bang for their buck being able to recycle/remix raids locations.

FF14 could learn a thing or two from WoW's flex raid, a raid system that you can take any number of people, ranging from 10 to30 max people and the raid boss difficulty will adjust with the number of people. And added to the Normal and Heroic mode, they also added LFR tier which is a super easy version (core mechanics still in place but tremendously lower damage) with completely different/lower ilvl drops so the casual can clear the content and enjoy the lore, and also serves as a bridge if someday they want to try Normal or even Heroic. Oh and by the way, in WoW's Normal and Heroic, raids are cross-server/cross-datacenters, so you can pug with an insanely large pool of people.

On top of all of those, they also reserved a tier, Mythic tier (same server only), for the extreme hardcore world first race raiders, with added raid mechanics/difficulty, and of course much higher ilvl drops and unique rewards/achievements/title/mounts for completing. And they'll also give additional achievments for clearing the Heroic and Mythic raid before the "nerf/echo buffs" are implemented.

Another thing I loved in GW2. Dunno if WoW implemented the cross server functionality GW2 had, but it was nice to be able to play with friends on other servers.

You guys are expecting way too much from such a small and resource starved company as SE.

and wasting a tap on the node. imo if you've discovered a hidden item once it should stay unhidden, like you logged it in your gathering log or something reasonable like that.

It forces the gatherer to make a choice: burn 300GP to clear Out of Sight, burn 300GP for an extra gathering attempt, or burn 400GP/500GP for +2 gathering yield. Basically forces the choice between quality or quantity. Can't get a guaranteed HQ gathering attempt without a chain 4.

Don't give them ideas by making unspoiled node slot random, mandating the use of a 300gp skill.

It's a pretty illusory choice, reducing the number of attempts at the node from 6 to 5 and not requiring you to uncover items would have the same effect.

The skills that gives you a bonus swing at the node and the skills that uncover the items both cost 300 GP, which one you use is pretty irrelevant when your goal is to get chain 5 and using either means you won't have enough GP for the increased yield skill.

Pop Quelling at the start of boss fight and I end up tanking by 80%. RS wasn't even up. Tank gets it back, I'm flashing orange the rest of the fight wondering if popping RS when it returns will take it off him. Seems to be the story on every boss fight these days. I am i126 but still... It's annoying.

That's why I never play on my main job outside of coil.

I should probably try that instead of being lazy. But I figure if I did my dungeon runs as a tank I'd be complaining about terrible DPS.

It's probably because 2.5 is around the corner (casual-appealing update unlike 2.4), but god damn is there a lot of sub i90 people in the roulette the past few days.

Why can't they make myth armor basically free for them instead of making them grind soldiery+antiques(assuming they even win the lot since 1k GC seals) from the current expert crop.

PVP Complaint for my PVP brethren.

    Spoiler: show
Join a match on C as the only healer. Suggest to the party with ample time for it to process in their heads that we should hit the Flame OP first and then hit temple so I don't get destroyed and ultimately end up wasting time trying to take a flag I know we're not gonna get. Team expectedly ignores me while I take Flame OP alone uncontested. Run off to Temple to spy since Flames typically goes for our OP if they're able to take our OP uncontested leaving Temple free and easy for us to take. Unfortunately I 90k'd. When I got back, the team was screwing off doing whatever so I ran to temple flag and lo' and behold Temple was largely empty save a PLD so me and this NIN took the point. However, we didn't keep it long because the rest of the team wasn't there and the enemy team eventually doubled-back and killed us.

Someone tells me I should join the rest of the team but I replied I'd rather not do what they're doing while trying to explain (in a typical FF14 pompous but articulate way) that I'd rather not do pointless things as a solo healer in a party because it's moronic to keep running into a disadvantageous situation. Then this guy accuses me of playing to lose even though we were already losing, and quite pathetically. Tried to explain to him that I usually play to win but I'm not interested in needlessly frustrating myself but he wasn't hearing it and continued accusing me of purposefully diving.

I don't always bring out my healer because I don't like playing it if I'm not getting proper support. Actually in hindsight now thinking about it, dude that was accusing me of diving also has a healer but he wasn't using it for that match so I could've totally turned that around on him if I remembered at the time.

Had enough for one day. Might try to start recruiting again for my LS before the new patch so I can try to condition people to play smarter.

Pretty much hitting my "fuck this game" mark.

Other than daily roulettes/1-2 Alex maps I got nothing to really do. DFing in the coil is becoming annoying (2 wipes on T8 and people just say fuck it and vote to abandon while someone tries to discuss strategy) and even when I finsh that and T9 (Assuming I don't have an aneurysm from how bad PUGs are from what I heard) I'd once again hit a wall since I don't have a static for Final and I've only seen about one or two learning PTs this week for it.

Oh and them bringing back /random. Just why?

Came back after being away since 2.0.

Main story quests to unlock ramuh, levi and shiva are the most annoying pointless fetch bullshit "talk to this guy. now this guy" type of quests out there. I wanna kill myself.
Take a break from that to level a lower lvl class and I remember why I quit in the first place. Leveling up is still stupid and almost harder now because FATE trains aren't as big. Should I even bother doing Crystal Tower or first few turns of Coil? I'm guessing pugs will drive me bonkers

The problem in this game is that even if they could do it (and they probably can, they'd just need to put time/effort into it), people have such a raging hate boner for absolutely anything and everything even remotely WoW related. You can take the greatest idea ever, say WoW has it, and people will instantly shoot it down as fast as possible. Something something, this is why we can't have nice things, etc.
