Holy shit, how was he even alive at that point to even get into the car.
I'd drink that much too if I had to play for the Cardinals.
In what way? He's a good pitcher and only under contract for one more season, if I'm remembering correctly.
I'd prefer him over say James "Big Game" Shields, who carries the most obnoxious nickname of all time, considering he pisses himself every time he makes a postseason appearance. "Panty Shields" is more like it.
Nothing to go by other than anecdotal evidence of the cubs getting better and the A's getting worse when the trade was made.
I will say though any money he gets via FA is probably gonna be too much.
Also curt schilling going full retard on twitter and sportswriters calling him out on it is just gold.
Eh, you could really argue the same about the Lester trade, and Lester is no albatross.
The entire Oakland offense completely went south once Cespedes was traded. It could have been unrelated, or part of a domino effect. Not that I think Cespedes is really an offensive force or a difference maker. I wasn't really impressed by him during his two months in Boston.
As for Schilling, I haven't seen his Twitter. But it can't be much worse than his Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/curt.schilling.56?fref=nf
I mean, I love the guy for what he did in 2004, but he really should shut up sometimes.
So Zito announced through Scott Boras he want's to pitch in 2015.

He'll probably get an NRI somewhere, might stick in a bullpen, but lol if he thinks he'll be a starter again.
Stanton trying to get paid.

Yea, no way he starts again. His best bet is to accept a bullpen role, try to be a long reliever/spot emergency starter. His curveball was still filthy when it worked, the problem was the rest of his pitches. By the second time through the lineup they typically had him figured out. Still was the hero for us though in the 2010 playoffs so I can't completely shit on him though that was an awful contract from day 1.
Hey, he was so awful in 2010 that him not pitching made him a hero. That's my story and i'm sticking to it.

Burnett signs a one year 8.75 million dollar deal with the Pirates. 4.25 million less than option he had for next season with Philly.
I may have been willing to pay 4.25 million to stay away from the Phillies, too.
Braves traded Heyward to the Cards for Shelby Miller
