I'm trying to find details. Saw a retweet on twitter saying that after taking a shot at ownership he conveniently gets traded. I mean this trade even as a rebuild makes absolutely no sense. He's under team control till 2018, what we got was two back end starters and an 18yo shortstop along with Lowrie.
Yep, it was retweeted by Josh Reddick, actually.

Everyone hates astro turf. Supposedly the Jays are going to put in real grass in a couple years.
Nelson Cruz signed with the Mariners
Not surprised they traded him at all, especially considering what we got for him. Lawrie is too high strung and his ego is way too fucking big. Guy needs to calm down and focus on baseball. He's been too injury prone and never has found his bat in the majors yet. If someone can smarten him up, he can prolly turn things around, but we have Gibbons, so wasn't gonna happen here....
To those asking about the prospects, Sean Nolin has been the one most talked about here the past 2 years. There was a lot of hype surrounding him, a lot of expectations, more than just being a bottom rotation guy, I'd even say there was more talk about Nolin than there was of Aaron Sanchez for us, and Sanchez was lights out for us last year.
Either way I love this trade, still like to resign Melky and see us add one more quality guy to the rotation, but nice job to AA on this trade.
Veteran umpire Dale Scott comes out as gay. First professional Umpire/Referee in any major NA sport to do so.

I feel like that shouldn't be a big deal but it probably will be ... I really hope we've gotten to the point now where we don't have to be homophobic shitheads, but I sadly doubt it.
Unfortunately with the whole locker room stigmata, until you see a few actively come out, it will remain a big deal.
So Jays trade J.A Happ to the Mariners for Michael Saunders, then sign Smoak to a 1year 1M deal.
After declining his 3.65 option, glad to see we still kept him at a much easier price, and I like the return we got for Happ, takes care of 1 OF for us, but we still need some pitching, hopefully AA has some more up his sleeve for us!
Oh, and Markakis signs 4Y/44M with the Braves
I didn`t see that Happ-Saunders trade coming. Jays look to be one of the busiest teams this offseason so far. You have to wonder how the Yankees, Rays, and Orioles will respond to all the significant moves already made by Boston and Toronto. Gonna be very interesting again in the AL East next year.
