Competition? If CA, NY, FL, and the such all legalized it, there would be more supply.

I'm sure there's more legal prostitutes in Amsterdam than Nevada.

My hope is that it will morph into an excuse for everybody, not mainly LGBT, to just get drunk and party like another St. Patricks Day with some Mardis Gras mixed in.

I've seen some posts floating around about how LGBTQIA people are uncomfortable with straight people changing their profile pic as a show of support, I guess because straight people can do it without fear of retribution and they maybe can't? I haven't experienced any of that personally because so many of my friends are out and comfortable with themselves but I kind of wondered what others' thoughts might be on this.

Personally I don't feel like changing my profile picture to the rainbow version of it is me trying to "take away" or diminish their struggle, but just a silent sign of support. But I guess there's always going to be people who see straight allies who think, "Oh, the straights are trying to take attention away from us, even though this is our fight."

    Thoughts?

Many persecuted people who suddenly receive some relief feel like this. For some, its hard to know who to trust; who truly believes what they do and say vs. who is just riding the trend.

I haven't seen any hate like that on my FB feed. I have some gay people on my FList and all they're saying is how thankful they are for everyone's support.

Suppose I could understand some, "Where were you when I needed you?!" angst, but it's not like everywhere is San Francisco with big parades to overtly show support.

There's still plenty to accomplish. In most states you can still be fired from a job or evicted from an apartment for being gay.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Honesty, you can't please everyone. This is not surprising as this is a sentiment that can be found among women about me being feminists, and blacks around whites being supporters. I made some friends happy when I changed my avatar, and that's all that matters to me.

There will always be a small vocal minority that is against something for reasons. I would take it with a grain of salt.

Worried about the position his political party would be in versus the citizens affected by the constitutional amendment doesn't sound like the voice of reason to me. But it's close.

Well fuck the community in this case. If I want to support my friends who are LGBTQIA and THEY'RE okay with it, then I'm going to. If anyone else in the community is upset about that? Sounds like a personal problem to me. If my friends are okay with me supporting them, however, then that's what I'm going to do.

Oh it wasn't my friends that were the problem, but I saw people on another site that were complaining about that. So I figured I'd run to BG and get a second opinion.

That's what I meant. If my friends are cool with it, then I am. If it's random people from some other site, fuck them.
