heard placements are really weird even for top players. probably just people complaining but some seem to think matchmaking is off?

what have you guys been seeing so far?

In Season 2, Blizzard said that people were calibrating too high. That may be the adjustment happening. I speculate Blizzard may have also narrowed the calibration range to peak out at mid diamond or bottom master.

Edit: I take it back. MoonMoon calibrated at GM. And TimTheTatman went 4-6 and calibrated at 3.8k. So it takes into account your S2 rating.

Went 4-6. Was 1-4, solo queued and got invited to a group of 3. Won the next 3. Things are lookin good? 9th Match = Rage quiter, weren't even doing poorly, was in the second minute. 10th Match? Guy won't join voice coms. Ask him to, "My P isn't working well and my net is bad." .... Watched this dude stand still for 10 seconds at a time then warp, get killed, repeat, for 3 rounds of KotH. Placed at uh... 1675. I don't think I've ever even been that low?

The rest of my night went well. I got games with a lot of good players. Not just on my team. Lots of high aggression games. One Anubis went 5-4. In the end I went 5 win, 3 loss 2 draw. Placed at 2250 with a season 2 high of 2700. Did one game before quitting for the night. Was easy mode. Was easily picking off their healers and had little trouble. The win gave me 50 points. I've heard as high as 130 from one game so you can definitely rise fast from what people are saying. It's supposed to tie into your performance during the match as well now and not just W/L.

Was the opposite for me. Did a few late night matches, lost a ton. Teams who pick 5 DPS. Teams that have one Winston on attack as the sole tank. Attack Symmetras. Basically got steamed rolled by the opposing team. The few times I didn't get that, we steam rolled the other team (multiple 5 and 6 DPS teams). Basically, for me, so far it's been much worse than it was before.

That's usually how it goes at the start/end of a season. Early-mid/mid season is the best time to climb because most of the trolls/shitters have moved on leaving mostly tryhards and people who are easily tilted.

Since FFXV is about I'll leave placements for a bit, but I'm sure placements don't matter yet but actually trying to rank climb could be cancer.

So yea, placements are HEAVILY weighted towards S2 rating. went 2-6-2, starting with an 0-5 streak, and ended up 2929 (reference, S2 peaked at 3150 and ended 3k due to inactivity.) Dang I thought I was going to calibrate to Diamond. I blame that game where I played with my gold friend and got destroyed.
