Rogue and Lunatic Hai was by far the favorite to win in the beginning of the tournament, Envy pulled crazy wins after wins, and by the time they get to finals, all the strong teams already been eliminated lol.

Talespin left EnvyUS in the middle of tournament, people thought they were gonna lose for sure since they had to fill in with a nobody player from Thailand name Mickie, but that actually made EnvyUS WAY stronger because they clicks with Mickey so well, plus D.va super OP this meta. Envy went from the middle of the pack team to probably the best Overwatch team in the world right now lol

I don't follow the competitive scene much, so I figured any team that was interested would already be involved.

General strats for them is they wait until the game matures a bit, and then comes in with HUGE money, poach all the best players and make a justice league team like they did with LoL, they waited 2 years then handpick all the star players and made a team out of it.

Did my placement matches today. Went 5-5 and ended up at 2376 or something like that. I ended last season just under 2600 with a high of 2976 or something.

idk, we'll see, western players are pretty strong right now plus Overwatch League teams will be popping up next year I'm sure. During the Blizzcon World Cup they invited a bunch of investors/team owners/big names from NBA for the Overwatch League buy-in.

Finished placements today; went 7-2-1 all soloQ and got 2621. I think placement scores mean nothing. I was 2680ish at S2 end with a high of 2749.

Ster just finished his placements going 3-6-1 and ended 3906. He had at least 1 game where he played like shit too.

This placement system is completely stupid. Just have it continue from the previous season if it's going to be like this.

Another odd thing for me. I lost 2 games after calibrating and went down like 25 points. Win the next one and I'm up 30. I guess the ladder is trying to pull me up or something odd like that. I tend to lose less even for consecutive losses and gain a whole lot more on consecutive wins. I just hit diamond again after 3 wins starting at 2895.

I was gold last season, finished around 2100 despite solo queue hell. Go 7-3 on placement matches, Fucking silver at 1700

From what I've seen and heard, it takes your last seasons high, and puts you lower in an attempt to "populate the lower ranks" which all it's really doing is putting more players in "ELO hell" and making it the game for unfun for everyone. After my placement matches I got so many games of 4 dps or other such crap and ended up losing around 9 in a row, with taking breaks between games. I finally got a few decent teams and clawed my way back up to 2200 where, while still bad not nearly as so. When you're gold damage and kills as Mei, there is a problem.

Yup, I had a couple of placement matches where as Zenyatta I was gold damage, gold on both eliminations, and just short of gold healing.

I think the new rating average is probably mid-gold 2250. I agree that Season 2 gold/platinum was overpopulated and Blizzard is trying to distribute the player base widely. The skill diversity playing in platinum through 80% of Season 2 ranged from really good people who were stuck in the platinum trench to diamond to really bad people who had no business being as high as they were. And I did this as a 85% support, 13% Rein/Zarya, and 2% Reaper/Soldier.

One of my friends somehow got to 61 in Season 1, calibrated 3200 in season 2, dropped down to 2.1k immediately, finished at 2.3k, then calibrated at 2.3k for season 3. I think it's doing its thing by fixing the large skill gaps that was persisting in the 2350-2800 rating range.

On the plus side I noticed climbing seems easier. Lost 2 games but recovered my points and then some on my 3rd game/1st win.

Misfits dissovled its roster did a bunch of player trade with Rogue and Luminosity and formed a super Swedish team lol. Feels like Rogue got screwed big time on the trade, lost 2 of its best player, Tviq and Reinforce. Tviq in term of skill is probably even matched with Taimou from EnvyUs, but with way more versatile hero pool.
