Were you the Mercy being shielded by the Reinhart and would have survived had he body blocked you/kept his shield up?
Nah. It's not clear from the angle but friendly Rein charged mech, pushing it behind the payload car where we were hiding so he killed us all.
lmao
I almost never charge the self-destruct. 1) It kills you, 2) 90% of players release it airborne to explode as it hits the ground making charging impossible, 3) it adds an additional element of uncertainty to your teammates' planning, and 4) the shit is easy to hide from. #3 gone awry right there.
I haven't played a PC FPS since vanilla CS in like 2001; definitely not ready.
And this may be the best thing I've ever seen in OW:

watching a guy on twitch go thru his qualifiers, he is 9-0 so far. his group is so f'ing good.
Tell us what rank he gets.
I heard Seagull say yesterday that someone got a 70 something off the bat. But that was PTR.
EDIT: Oh you were watching Seagull too
EDIT2: He got 71, btw. Think someone said earlier they read 69 was cap; I don't think there is a cap. Blizzard's blog says you'll be placed 1-100.
I've watched him a lot. He's a pro player with LG and his streams are really informative. He goes through counters, techs, and other things.
I did 2 placement games last night, had multiple whiners both games, which we got stomped horribly and was singled out in the second one for my supposedly horrific play. Then I got POTG and 5 Gold Card as Roadhog, to which I was told was invalid because the good players quit playing because the rest of the team was so bad. Yup. F competitive.
I think based on MMR/ELO of your quick matches, the system already has an idea of what rank range you'll calibrate. The 10 matches are more or less double checking your ELO and whether it's inflated/depressed based upon groups. I think most people will end up in the 35-55 range. 90th percentile of players will end up in the 65+ range to start.
Yo what's the discord link? I need some good people for ranks instead of these chub pugs.
I had two matches where people left. Despite the fact that the game tells you that you can leave without penalty, it still counts as a loss in placement matches.
I did 4 placement matches last night, went 2-2. One of the wins, someone on the other team kept bitching about one person randomly afking. That was our match that went to sudden death. That was really the only toxic crap I saw. In fact I had one match my team on our turn to do assault begged me to stay mercy cause my healing was that damn good (we were getting our asses kicked on defense before I switched).
Yeah, idk wtf happen to the world, but players are being awesome.
Did the capture point maps and won the first two rounds. On the third round everyone on the enemy team left but one person. We told him we felt bad and everyone gave him the mvp point at the end for sticking around.
I can imagine game will go downhill eventually regarding people, but it's definitely a nice change of pace.
I think once it becomes a 6v3 or greater leaver fest, things get a bit more "whatever, let's get this over with" attitude.
And the leaving without penalty is that you leaving the game won't add you to the bad behavior player list. Remember, you can get locked out temporarily or even banned from a season of competitive play for leaving frequently.
i cant imagine what a joke it becomes if more than one person leaves. we ended up in a match against a team that lost a man last night and it wasnt remotely competitive
The person has to leave within the first 30 seconds or something for it to not count as a loss. Had that happened twice last night.
