Your personal performance is factored in but its not definitive. This is however: streaks. Win or lose 3/4/5 in a row and you will start gaining/losing a full rank as long as the streak is kept going. And when the streak breaks it will generally be a minor shift and you can quickly keep it riding again if you get back on the same path. The game aggressively uses streaks to move you where it thinks you belong. So if you're hot and lose one game you'll generally not lose a lot. If you're struggling, the rare win will also not give you much.

If you're alternating wins/losses and still not seeing consistent movement then your performance might be hit or miss.

I think streaks might carry over because when I got my largest chunk of XP it was my first game back after being signed off for a bit. Some googling leads to people saying similar things. So thats good!

I feel like I'm in matchmaking hell. I keep going back and forth between rank 52 and 58. Last 2 games I played where my team lost each dropped me an entire level. Also got paired with the asshole that trolled his own team with Mei on KotH. Since someone else was already Mei, he just sat there as Genji and spammed emotes again while doing nothing (KotH again).

I did play with a top 500 for the first time (officially) and felt like I didn't drag the team down. Also reassuring knowing that I got a friend request from someone was was 76 at the time I met him in solo queue and is now 80. If it weren't for things like that I'd feel completely demoralized.

I learned about how professionals set their sensitivity and now all of a sudden I feel like a god on McCree. Gold damage/elims like 90% of games, headshots across the map, actually able to hit Genji and Tracer. Shit is great.

Anyone else feel like the ranking system is more busted than ever? i lost 3 games today which resulted in an entire rank down each time, get a win and i barely get 20% of a level? it just seems far too inconsistent especially when beating teams with higher average ranks.

I heard that putting custom games, headshot only with one hits, and putting Ana bots gives a good way to practice headshotting with McCree a lot since the Anas can't headshot you thus can't kill you.

Seems reddit is getting fired up from the summer skins being related to the Olympics and it being limited time only via the summer crates only (drop and buy with $), cannot get with currency. No full confirmation yet outside of screenies. Would be sorely disappointed if true as I've been saving since release (like 7k currency).

oh god i've been hording credits as well but the worst part of this would mean a return to the hell of quickplay to maximize xp

It wasn't shown in the preview trailer, but I really, really want the wrestling Reinhardt skin.



51 boxes later (you get 1 free) and I'm pleased. Got:

Both Lucio skins (both gold)
Dva skin (purple)
McCree skin (purple)
Genji skin (purple)
Zarya Champion skin (there's also Weightlifter, both gold)
Tracer Track and Field skin (there's also Sprinter, both gold)

Think the only other skins available are Mercy and Torborjn.

Also got Junkrats highlight intro which is just golden, it's shotput with a bomb. Got Symmetra, Lucio, and Bastion emote too. Got more sprays and player icons (jesus all the player icons) that I'm not going to bother to list.

Biggest problem is not all characters got much. Reaper, Pharoh, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Ana, and prolly others that I didn't look at didn't get anything other than sprays. Not everyone getting a skin, emote, and intro is understandable, but having characters that don't get any one of those is pretty silly.

Seems you also get event boxes when you level now. I tried Lucioball brawl and we won and leveled off of it. Went to open my box and I didn't have a standard loot box, but an event one.
