These are the main problems imo. For Competitive, EVERYONE should be placed into Team Chat automatically. If you don't want to hear someone, there's an option to mute that person.
The ones that only play 1-2 chars need to learn more characters or at least be very good at the ones they do play. Got teamed with an Ana yesterday. Initially I expected the worst. Checked their stats and they had 8 hours of Ana use in Competitive so I figured they would do well with her. NOPE, they played here as Widowmaker. And then there was the Torbjorn on KotH when the opposing team had a Winston. He got a card at the end for Turret kills and it was only 2 more than I had as Zenyatta.
Idiots that don't understand why the meta includes 2 healers and that having Zenyatta (or Ana) as the only healer is a terrible decision only to have them spam the "I need healing!" emote. I can rarely snap pick Zenyatta now because idiots thinking they can just go CoD mode and not need another healer. If they're going to do that, at the very least they need to learn where the health packs are so they can heal themselves.
And then there's those that are allergic to the objective. We've all seen them, so there's nothing more to say there.

Since nobody else linked it yet:
New map confirmed for September release.
Looks like maybe we can get a new Rein skin from it too?Revealed at gamescom 2016, Eichenwalde is an Assault/Escort hybrid map set in an abandoned village on the outskirts of Stuttgart, Germany.
The site of one of the most famous battles during the Omnic Crisis, it was here that the leader of the Crusaders, Balderich von Alder, and a handful of his best soldiers made a last stand against an advancing automaton army. Outnumbered and outgunned, they were ultimately slain during the resulting combat. However, thanks to their valiant efforts, the German military was able to push back the omnic offensive and win the fight.
On this map, one team must escort a battering ram to Eichenwalde Castle to reclaim Balderich’s remains from their current resting place, while the opposing team does everything in its power to thwart the keep from being breached.
This is more quickplay related, but also involves comp.
I hate how people can just easily look at your career profile and say "lol i'm higher ranked than you, i won't listen to you!" Although you clearly have a better understanding of the game. One thing in both comp and qp they should get rid of overall is the stupid medals while midmatch, let that shit happen AFTER the match. I hate asking for a widow/hanzo on offense to please switch because they're clearly not contributing to the point (especially in koth maps), and say "lol i'm gold in kills / damage, i'm carrying the team!"
The whole competitive thing made the game extremely toxic, and while i'm guilty of it, people with a sane mind should listen. I won't be torb the entire match when i'm clearly seeing i have major trouble setting up my turrets. That's the definition of insanity, this game clearly shows it. Quick play in a way should (can't think of how atm.) give you better incentive to make you WANT to win a match, and make people say "it's quickplay, who cares!" a lot less.
Some of us don't play comp much (like me, forever 46-48) like to enjoy some quickplay, but when the team completely are outright dicks by saying shit like that, it really becomes a bigger turnoff to play.
I would be in favor of removing the mid match medals as well. Seeing myself with medals that I shouldn't have (based on my class) make me angrier than I would be if I didn't see that.
I'm about a 44% win rate, but stuck in the mid 30's after getting an initial placement rank of 43. I can't speak for LoL as i've never touched that game in my life, but I have noticed the lower you get, the more trolls you have, the less people communicate, and a greater chance of leavers. I've had to teach myself to be tolerable with Reinhardt, D.Va, Roadhog and Mercy due to people thinking 4 dps and 2 tanks is more then enough.
Anything less than 2 healers is a bad time. Especially now that you have pro games becoming more common with the official release. I run into opposing double healer almost every time, but maybe 60% of the time does my team comply with the concept.
EDIT: 2 tank, 2 dps, 2 healer is the standard. Can change it up from there depending on the opposing team and where you are in the map, but 2 healer is a big thing now.
I'll routinely go a third dps instead of support if we already have a Lucio or w/e. Meta is great and all but if you're not killing shit it's better for carry, esp on KOTH where Zen is fodder (lighthouse).
I'm only rank 64 but I don't think it's that big a deal.
Staying alive is the biggest thing that benefits your team. The respawn timers are no joke.
That said, eating through double tank double heals is a pain in the ass. And that is where Discord Orb comes in, cementing Zen's top pick status. It's also a reason I never see Pharah anymore, even in quick play - partly Zen, more due to McCree left click buff.
That's still in line with the meta though. If you're trying to get a push into the point to take control, and your DPS aren't getting the picks you need, switching to a DPS to get the point is a viable option. In that case you'd likely have someone that died in the push switch off to a healer again to hold if possible.
I got both Zarya skins. I can quit the game now.
If you don't think that a gold elimination/damage Widow or Hanzo is doing their job, maybe you don't have the understanding of the game that you think you do. Hanzo a little less so, but Widow shouldn't have gold damage unless she's putting in some serious work (or everyone else on the team is shitty). Their damage is very specific and targeted, and usually leads to kills. And yes, kills don't do anything on their own, but the whole name of the game is disabling the enemy from interacting with the objective. If they're getting gold eliminations without ever attacking the point directly, then they're doing their job of limiting reinforcements and flanks, and the job of dealing with the point itself with equal numbers, if not an advantage, is left to the rest of the team. That's not to say the sniper couldn't be doing their job better or ultimately get more team utility out of another character, but they're often picked on just because they're the easiest to blame. The secret is that everyone on the team could be playing better.
Ranked is for tryharding, QP is for relaxing. If you're tryharding in QP, then my armchair psychologist opinion is that you think you're better than your rank tells you you are but can't prove it by actually winning games. Either that or you're just an overly competitive or angry person.
People always fail to realize that meta theorycrafting only really applies to the upper echelons of play, where all players on a team are communicating regularly in voice chat. Sure, it's also a general indicator of character strength, but there are also things that counter said meta when not played at near-perfect levels but would never be seen in professional play.
Communication is so fucking important. Aside from the elo hell bullshit. My shit is frustrating. Sometimes my pings on NA servers are unmanageable. Nobody on euro severs talk. None. Those that communicate type. God help you of you're trying to formulate starts with Russian speakers. The chat gets filled with "Сука, блять" because fuck Americans.
The fgc person in me makes me overly competitive, in which you are definitely correct. Sadly you can't tell that to every person who plays with you when you solo.
While i do understand what you mean about the whole gold elims etc, but i should specify that this one particular person who thinks they're oh so awesome, refuses to switch and play a more needed role if say for example we need a 2nd healer or 2nd tank in the more dire situations, or if overtime is imminent, and the have no way of reaching the objective to reset the timer to the best of their ability. Pretty much this should apply to stationary characters as well. This is pretty much why i also stated that one thing blizzard should think of doing is eliminating showing your medals mid-match because that brings out the worst in people.
Medals can be a crutch for bad and good players. Had a team comp the other day on Anubis with no tank. Made it past the first point but couldn't the second. Had three attackers a Hanzo and 2 healers. I was a healer and the soldier mentions pretty sternly we need a tank.
He's right but he doesn't want to swap because he is gold in damage so he's too good to tank someone else to swap. I point out that he is doing a good job and ideally one of these bad ones would switch but they weren't even taking or responding so they aren't switching off shit so he should.
He stayed soldier, we lost the match. Should be noted he only played soldier on defense as well. This is an example of a "I'm gold so I'm too good to be a team player" causing a loss.
I am one of those people who gets upset when I have four golds on Zarya despite knowing she's a really good class. Same for when I'm healing. So I get where some of you are saying too. You can be getting golds but if your team comp sucks and you're too stubborn to change because you think you're too good to heal or tank you're as much to blame as the shit eating Hanzo who is doing next to nothing.
This isn't to anyone here, just pointing out that it's a team game. But sometimes i say fuck it and just stop caring because my team clearly doesn't.
Also I really hate King of the hill because I'm usually the one stuck on Lucio while the snipers and the Genjis get slaughtered.
Also TFW your enemy is running two Winstons and your only healer swaps to a second Genji so now we have two Genji a Tracer and no healer against a team that hard counters them.
Other than McCree, what classes are good to counter Genji/Tracer?
Winston
Welp I better learn to play him then.
Roadhog also works if you can land the hook.
