    FFXIV network issues (Comcast?)

So I have been having issues with my network and it shows significantly when playing FFXIV. I will have 3-8 second timespans where I can actively play, followed by everything stopping and my receiving/sending dropping to 0, then it spikes up to 20k+ and the game catches up. Rinse and repeat over and over again. It's not ALL the time, but there is no set time it creeps up either.

When I monitor my networking through performance manager with just FFXIV open I can see visually the traffic going up and down like a mountain line on the horizon with huge spikes.

It seems more intense in FFXIV then WoW, though I will notice at times it lags out on WoW as well.

In terms of system to rule out hardware:

    16GB
    AMD 7970
    AMD X4 995 at 3.5GHZ.

Not other process has noticeable issues even when FFXI is bouncing around so if it were the GPU/CPU I would expect the entire system to show signs it was struggling with the game.

Tracerts to FFXIV servers show dropped packets here and there within comcast domain spaces, but they are not frequently in the same spot.

Comcast has come out and run tests and said my pipe is pretty rough so they are going to lay new cable, but trying to rule out any issue before that incase it doesn't work.

I've had a few strange lag spikes over the last two days in Bel Air, MD, also with Comcast.

I hope they didn't merge with Time Warner or something.

I heard they had major outtages around us in MD, but none close to Columbia or Bel Air I don't think. Shitty service is shitty.
