There will be new level caps are being added, giving you the ability to advance to level 55. More Abyss Dungeons, Chaos Dungeons and Tier 2 Guardian Raids are also going to be added, as well as the Arkesian shop, Lost Ark's premium currency shop, being opened up for testing. Each beta tester will be gifted 40,000 Royal Crystals to test out the shop, though you won't be able to spend real money to get more.
Also Amazon has now gotten the publishing rights for Estonia, Latin America, and Oceania. So those players will be able to play on Amazon servers.
Twitch drops will be available by watching promoted streamers. 30 minutes for a key, after getting the drop and linking amazon games account to twitch.
Looks like they're putting Sorceress in the lineup and swapping out the Summoner. Awesome for those that wanted sorcs but weird to take away a class that people may have been planning to main.
Smilegate had their year end press conference today over in Korea. In the conference they talked about what is coming to Lost Ark in 2022.
Here are some of the highlights. Translations not done by me, done by TheSpaceAlpaca of the LOA reddit community.
- No more fully equalized hell mode. They will still equalize iLevel (and potentially other stuff), but things like tripods/engravings/etc will no longer be invalid.
- Focus on class balance in 2022, specifically on bringing up underperforming classes/builds
- For PvP they will balance stat effects and equalize cc duration. No more 21:9 angle? (or something related to equalizing camera angle at least)
- Restricting number of raid runs per account to cut down on extreme cases of gold generation (specifically mentioned too many people running stuff like Argos 7+ times). Inflation hurts F2P most. Adding more gold sinks to address, specifically they will shift end of dungeon/raid rewards from costing crystals to costing gold
- Better hard/hell mode rewards for legion raids. Stuff like mounts/exclusive avatars
- Optimization/clarity around back/front attacks. New icons. Balancing set/engraving effects to not be weighted so heavily towards this
- Lots of QoL improvements. Streamlining and adding in-game tracking of dailies/weeklies among many other things
- Moving to DirectX 11 next week. 1.5x fps improvements in many areas and better load times
- Two new classes (under Specialist main class). Artist support class (releasing in Jan 2022) and damage dealing class which uses weather effects
- Realm v realm continent called Rowen out December 29th (Viking themed).
- Second new continent called Elgacia. New abyss dungeon, story, exploration, guardian raid, and legion raid (but shorter, only 2 stages). It seems that this will be rolled out in/after summer of 2022
- 3rd new continent called Plecia exploring Arman's past. Mainly story
- 4th new continent called Voldis? Maybe 2022 maybe after. Lots of story but also some raid, etc content
- FEMALE ZERK!!!
- Going through older classes and updating skill animations to be in line with newer. Some skill updates/replacements as well for balance reasons
- Third awakening. Not a choice between 1st/2nd/3rd but an entirely new guage for each class. Must be built up and can only be used once (?) per instance
- Wants to develop events/content that is geared towards fun and less hardcore than just endgame raids introducing crazy new mechanic after new mechanic. More replayability. Games within a game. (seems like he's talking about introducing mini games, etc)
- New type of PvP not based around current fighting mechanics (seems like a PvPvE MOBA)
- A Battle Royal mode
- Also some kind of mario party esque board game with mini-games
- Also tower defense
- More relationship levels for certain npcs
- More festivals and housing related things to promote interaction between players (can visit across servers). Players can host their own events? Expansion of estate and new indoor housing to display achievements
A lot of stuff coming and a lot of re-work that NA won't get for a while, but since we're getting Season 2 and later, we won't have to muddle through the earlier problems. Artist looks fun and that weather specialist just sounds like another mage-type class with different graphics but we'll see.
The biggest takeaway for NA/EU from the press conference is the fact that we won't be spending months slowly going through the t1 and t2 contents before we're able to experience the t3 content (legion raids). In the press conference the game director said " "NA/EU players will be able to encounter legion raids extremely quickly... almost immediately (following the game release)." Although I am trying to figure out how they'll do it without stepping on any legitimate issues that might turn new players away.
16 gb update today on the Korean servers. Hopefully these changes come to the west soon.
- Several PVP adjustments. Such changes include a slight increase to FOV, standardized falling time, lower stat cap, and adjusted division brackets for ranked mode (e.g. the MMR range you fall into Bronze, Silver, etc).
- The change was made so that you spend gold and not cash shop currency at the end of raids to get the additional loot. Extra materials include fragments and Leap Stones.
- In T1 Abyssal Dungeons specifically, if you exceed the raid's item level by too much, you cannot spend your gold to get extra loot.
- DX11 was a massive performance increase. Not only does the game launch faster, but in the middle of the most populated town, I can hit 100 FPS (the FPS cap that I set in Nvidia Control Panel) in the middle of Vern, whereas before the patch I was hovering around 50-70 tops.
- Mystic Abyss Raid was NOT added back as a permanent content. Instead, it was added back as an event content with equalized setting, related to the Christmas event.
- Gold and additional materials were added to T1/T2 Abyssal Dungeons, but the run limit was adjusted back to once per raid per character (you saw 3 per week per raid in beta, with no gold and less rewards). Card drop rate went back up accordingly. Materials were also added to the basic rewards as well.
- Guardian Raids in T1/T2 have had their HP increased so they will be tougher to kill due to a longer fight duration.
- Adjustments have been made to monsters, dungeons, and field bosses in the first continent to improve the leveling experience (HP and respawn times).
- The Poison Claw Cave dungeon in the first continent had its length shortened.
- The Aguilos' Head dungeon is no longer mandatory at all, and you don't do it while leveling anymore (just for Adventure Journal later on).
- The Aguilos' Tail dungeon was also improved a lot.
- You get more battle items and Silver when completing all quests in general in early continents.
- In T1, accessories and trinkets no longer cost Peons to purchase from other players.
- In T2, it costs 1 Peon for either or. It's hard to tell if this is just because they're dated in KR, but copium maybe.
Last new update to housing. Strongholds (guild housing) will be getting their own islands. Guilds can purchase their stronghold, and decorate it any way they like. It will change during the season, and Guild leaders can put on mini-games for guild mates, or host parties.
