Finally my shitty 3* luck pays off. Also got black cat lid; agreed that she seems to be the only one that's decent. I'm done with dailies for the duration of the event so I can build my lapis back up.

This event is great for farming. Once you beat the 15 round fight you can unlock the pumpkin rider ADV which is 1 fight for 1550 candy, right now with my current party I can 2 shot it.

I was already able to grab all the cactuar to max out Cecil and almost cap DKCecil.

It's going to be much nicer when I finish some of these TM weapons, I have two Miyukis at 60% and Cecil at 86%.

Rods dropping like (Halloween) candy it seems like these days. I'm on vacation for the next 10 days so I don't know just how much I'll be able to keep up during that time... hopefully it won't be too bad. Only real goal is to get Cecil's LB to level 15+. Because he gets High Tide at 6* grinding is actually a touch faster than 5* but with the downside that LB pots are not as effective.

Running Wolfsfang Peak gets right around 100 LB uses per run, but it can take close to an hour to clear.

I'm keeping a 3* cecil for LB farming. I saw the analysis on 5* vs 6* (high tide vs no high tide), but I still think it's faster to get the first 10 lvls at 3*, next levels at 4*, etc.

Or maybe that's what you're saying?

I'm sure you already know this data since you checked out the analysis but in case anyone is curious and doesn't want to hunt for the analysis:
How you farm between 5* and 6* will determine whether or not you want to just jump to 6*. If you aren't planning to LB pot it, then easily just go with 6*, if you wanna do the entrust + lb pot method, waiting it out in the 5* is fine.

Lightning has definitely made the the event so far a breeze. Team I'm using boils down to just her + Cheerleader Fina ( no Lenna still ;-; )

For most of these characters there is no one else that could provide more damage, due to the high base attack of the newer characters. Replacing Pecil for CoD is really the only thing that could increase damage with my setup.

I have Decil equipped with Barrage for ST damage, or Dark Cannon for 2.5x AOE damage. 440 attack means he does great damage with just those abilities.

Agrias is one of the best damage dealing Full Breakers, she has Bladeblitz for AOE situations, and Cleansing Strike for a single target 3x barrage like ability which does good damage.

Ramza with Murasame / barrage is only 12 attack less than Rising Sun CoD but provides a lot more utility to the party. Once CoD gets 6 star and can use ability slots she'll be back for sure.

Pecil I am mainly playing around with to see how having tank that has a 75% cover and curaja would work on a team. Situations that need a real healer will of course have other changes, but right now there isn't a need for one.

I have never been able to pull a Chiziru so unfortunately I can't sub her in.

That makes some sense. I roll with Vaan as my full break and forgot agrias had it; couldn't figure out why you needed 2 tanks. I did give vaan barrage, which helps a little. And my CoD has rising sun, so also not a fair comparison.

I was so busy trying to cap Cecil 6* that I didn't even see what other badass items were available from king mog. The +30MAG hat and +15%MAG accessories are both awesome. But you can also buy 30 mini burst pots for only 1500 each (instead of that ridiculous 10k each from the cake event).

I think the best part is the complete ease of completing the ADV pumpkin king. While I assume PRO will give more corn per NRG, being able to reliably 2-shot ADV makes it almost automatically better as I expect PRO will be a bitch. So the event is substantially easier, and most of the good gear is cheaper as well (than cakes). It makes the gravity rod event completely laughable (which is a little annoying that I farmed one, but that's OK because my mage team can always use more pewpew power).

Breaking it down:
18 runs gets you all 10 summon tickets
30 runs gets you 3000 limit breaks (but each run only takes 2 minutes, vs 1 hr of farming an exploration)
4 runs for 10 star quartz.
7 runs for 100 gigantaurs.

I think the only thing I may not get is the 70k moogle. At 18NRG per 1550, that costs ~813NRG. Only if the PRO is substantially higher Corn/NRG, and only if it's farmable is that remotely worth it.

The real question is whether to burn up all my NRG for a week doing this with the expectation that I'll want to play the new island next friday, or take it casually and hope that the PRO version is better and that I can keep myself away from the new content long enough.

Don't forget how much better the price for 6* awakening materials is as well.

The first 20 of each awakening item is still only 160 corn so you earn 9.3 awakening material per run.

I haven't been playing this all that seriously for a while (mostly just doing dailies) and just got back into it around the time Lightning got released. Anyone have advice on the best way to get back into it? I have been doing the daily pull since Lightning and I have only pulled Mustadio so at least I have someone who can do breaks now. 14 tickets + daily pulls on Lightning netted me a bunch of CoDs.... I don't have a tank or true support. I am on the 3rd island, just finished the grotto. I am trying to get to the exploration to finish the quest for the Fire rod recipe for this event.

My question is, is it better to work on story or events. I was able to farm enough during the FFT event to get the shield/katana and I finished up through pro on the IV event. I have pretty decent mages but I am pretty sure I need to get the recipe for magic + 10% sooner rather than later if I am going to keep up with these events if the IV and Halloween events are any indication. I just barely cleared these. I have only cleared White Dragon as all I had for a long time is mages and Chimera ate them alive so now I finally have a few physical dps and will take down Chimera soon.

80s: Exdeath, Kefka, Artemios, CoD, Rain, Fina, Laswell, Golbez, Terra
5 star not capped: Roselia, Lenna (both are 56 I just got them)
Notable 4 star: Vivi, Shantotto, Krile, Galuf, Kain (need 1 more item to awaken him to 5), Mustadio (58), Rydia just recently made a 4

If I pull another goddamn CoD, Kefka or Shantotto I may scream. Pulled 6 of each so far.

This is all purely my opinion and it's no better or worse than anyone else's but it's been my recipe for success so far...

Take into consideration what items are must haves and what are nice to haves from the events and focus your efforts on what will provide you the most upgrades based on what time you have for the game.
This all varies from person to person but think reasonably what time you have to spend on this event. Just because you want everything on the banner, does it really make it worth all the time you will invest into it? Will your core team get better by getting some of the items listed? Events are always going to be coming and the more you don't improve yourself the more you'll just continue to struggle and feel like you can't keep up. Cut your losses by getting what you feel is necessary.

If you are struggling to clear content you should look towards ways to improve your chances of success.
1) increasing rank for more NRG to burn initially (if you're really low rank), this also helps with your sleep schedule. Being a high rank you can let your account sleep for a few hours.
2) increasing levels on your units for more balanced playstyle. Honing in too hard on one squad leaves you gaps which will bite you.
3) improving gear intelligently, aim for pieces of equipment that will last you a long time equal to the effort you put in. I'd highly suggest you push the colosseum as often as you can and even if you fail, keep trying and building around clearing it. There are really nice gear upgrades in there and all it requires is the time invested into beating it.
4) increasing your esper levels, getting key ones to 2* and picking up killers/abilities will help round out your team quite nicely.

And what I always suggest doing is trying to multitask your objectives. For example: I did Maranda exploration with 5 units who were leveling and brought along a carry lightning friend to help level them. While I was there I was farming rank (obviously) and collecting Ice Megacrysts to make Hero's Rings and gathering Esper crystals to upgrade random espers I needed. I was moving towards 3 goals at the same time. Better gear, better rounded team, and improving my esper strength (which improved my own)

Taking a look at your list of units to level, Lenna(solid healer choice) and Kain(strong physical unit) are good ideas.
Getting the MAG10% would definitely increase your mages damage output, again, really good idea.

I know it's silly but I was hype about this, my Cecil LB will reach 10 from this event and I can make him a 4* ( ' - ' )b Slow progress but it's progress!

I was exp farming hard this week prior to the event starting and managed to get most of my good units up to max. Hopefully rounded the team out better. Also Ramuh is like a breath away from being 2* now. Combined with my rank hitting 69 (giggity) I am ready to farm this event hardcore. I also agree I'm not too sure if the 70k moogle is worth it yet. I do have a Zidane sitting at 68% and two moogles would be great instead of just oooonnnee moogle.

Bladen, I'm of the mind that it's best to focus on what you want from the time limited events, and then worry about gaps in story missions/quests in the down time. A lot of your 5* units are great, and Lenna will be huge once you get her leveled up. Seems to me that you're really lacking a tank, which is unfortunate because from my experience, it's easier to bring a friend dps.

I'm psyched about the LB pots as well. I have one 6* Cecil already(Pulled as a 5* when I started the game so I never had a chance to work on his LB), and got a 3* one from the recent banner so I can feed the 3* and bring him up slowly as I TM farm. Managed 150+ uses on my new Pecil just from running Earth Shrine over two nights.

As far as the moogles go, I may get the 30k one, and as for now the 70k one is way out of bounds unless the payout from next weeks pro version is YUGE.

One last question, I have Exdeath as my friend unit but he is a pain to gear. Lilith Rod finally gave me a decent +MAG item for him. Is there any armor/helms he can equip that give +MAG that I can find anytime soon? Otherwise, I may switch to Kefka, I have a bunch of cloth mage gear. I pulled Exdeath at launch and he was quite popular because he had so many elements and dispel/imperil + his break but I feel like I am cheating my friends when I can't gear his magic up that much.

There is a lot of quests you can do to unlock the Gale Keys for a "Equip Hat" ability. Outside of that, nope. If you don't feel like doing those quests, you can just craft and dump a few mag+10% on him.
