Every time I get real close to killing Maxwell, my evoke gauge is barely up

I found that barrage got me a ton of evoke orbs over 2-3 rounds (it helps that you get 8x hits with DW Luneth).

So the basic strategy I'm seeing for this fight is "have more than 1 dual wielding 6* with 500+ ATk and barrage or get fucked".

Not true at all. I had a friend Elza with ~520atk, but I don't think she was the difference-maker as I had to slow wayyyy down on damage output in order to get my esper bar and LB bar full. I have a Luneth around 495 attack, but again, I had to slow down on damage significantly.

The trick is remember to buff regularly, don't take any units under around 3k HP, and keep up full break.

I kindof want to make a video of the fight. There weren't even any close calls, really. Only Vaan almost died, and that's only a problem because I was trying to get all 3 achievements on the same fight.

Doubt you realize how unlucky I am with my unit choices lol. But I'm willing to try, what was your set up and can you name a few 5* that are above 3k HP and useful for this fight, I'll see if I have them, cause I can't think of many that aren't weak Tanky units and I'll run out of MP long before Maxwell dies.

Even with Cheer/Focus/Omniveil from a RW he still can pick off my Mage unit and healer with lucky back to back attacks.

Also would be great if I had the luxury of having to slow down my damage output, I'll be lucky to see it to half health before 3 of my team are eating dirt. Didn't get any lucky carry units that can speed things along. My best physical DPS option is Black Cat Lid

My setup was 6* cecil, 6* cod, 6* refia, 5* vaan, 6* luneth, friend elza. What you likely don't have is 6* luneth, though I think most units can crack 3k with a few +HP materia (I've made 5 or 6 from Rizer-spam). A second CoD would be fine, as would a WoL or most other break-capable units (maybe a mustadio?). If you don't have Refia, Lenna would probably work in a pinch, but again some +hp materia would be great (there are 4 in the current FFBE event mog king list). Keep in mind you can also make some muscle belts with +10% each.

You can let your friend unit do most of the damage; you just want to have somebody that can break, somebody to heal, a good 6* cecil to provoke and focus, and preferably at least one CoD to hold diabolos and to use omniveil.

Is anyone going back and doing old missions? Every time I think about starting, I decide the NRG is better spent farming TM's. I mean, it's gotta be around 1500 NRG total to go and re-do everything, right?

Same, all my damage unit options are garbage and I have no trust stuff. So if maxwell is immune to all of BCLs debuffs I don't have a chance lol.

Popped my friend unit over to CoD with 564 atk / Diabolos and 5700 hp to try and help more people with event.

You may be screwed if you literally have no serviceable DPS. I'm down for trying to help you put together a team... run over to exviuswiki.com, pull up the unit ranking list, and tell us your top ~10 or so according to that list.

I have agrias, vaan, BCL, kefka, tellah, bartz artemios, charlotte, leo and golbez.

Edit: I also have a refia which hilariously has almost as much attack as my attackers.

No cecil is going to make this extremely hard I think. Out of that list, I'd try something like Refia, charlotte, Leo, Vaan, and BCL. Then find the whale-iest whale you can with an OP Elza. Vaan and Charlotte can use Cura as spare heals (craft some), Refia embolden, BCL can focus and hex strike. Friend DPS will provide enough dps, the rest are just there for crystal and orb generation. I don't know that you'll be getting the no-death one, but if you can stay alive long enough (everybody I listed there should be able to get enough HP to survive) I think you can summon diabolos and probably kill with Elza LB.

I finally beat Maxwell... sort of.
I killed her without letting any units die. Failed to summon Diabolos and failed to finish with the LB.

:/ been rethinking my strategy all day but I don't see how I'm going to do this without waking my Cecil up. Guess I better grind!

I have Mustadio, also have RDM FF3 guy for break options. No CoD or any 6* DPS. Pcecil is used but I don't have a form of provoke for him... can I buy it or?

Why Vaan over agrias by the way?

An additional focus was my thinking, though with Lid you should be covered in that department. Could use agrias and vaan over BCLid for perhaps better dps. I'd take whoever has more HP probably.
