How good is garland's 6*? I know it's probably a long way off but I managed to snag a 3* this morning.

He's good (but not great) in JP, but that's because you can stack a bunch of doublehands. On GL he's going to be less good because you can only use a single doublehand, and he's crappy if he uses DW. So... I have 3 that I kept to farm at least one or two equip-greatsword materia from, and I'm sure I'll cap one at 100, but I doubt I'll ever really use him outside of some specific strategy for whatever content they throw at us.

He becomes a good Budget unit with a lot of elemental coverage. If you have any 5* Naturals like Luneth and Lightning he might not find a strong spot in your group, but otherwise he's pretty good.

Decided to do a few pulls on the "Normal rare banner" hoping to get 1 Zidane-> get Miyuki #3. sighhhhh :/

Miyuki and ExD are my white whales, currently. So many duplicate "good" characters that you only need 1 of (Vaan, Garland, Celes, etc) have shown up for me, but it irks me that I can't get a simple 3star that I need.

I had never seen Exdeath before the BF banner either, then ended up with 3 of him... if only I could trade/gift extra units.

Pulled Cloud of Darkness with the log in ticket today. Very happy about this, I finally have a serviceable 6* DPS.

I actually had some good pulls today after months of garbage. I pulled a Chizuru with the half price and a zidane with the log in ticket. I mean I don't macro but at least I have another potential dw!

Started blazingfast with 800lapis, went to lunch, nap, etc. It ran through flawlessly, refilled 5 times, and was still running 4 hrs later when I came to check on it. So happy I finally got it working!!!

... then figured out that I ran 500 battles on my arena team, not my TM team. FML. I guess I'll need to TM kefka, refia, luneth, and that cecil at some point anyway (the only 100% waste was CoD). But goddammit. My DW is at 92% and that ~5% would have been fucking nice to have!

Finally back and on a normal schedule again, was out of state on a business trip for 5 days. Arena clears kinda took a hit but still maintained top 3k last week, and edging up on top 5k atm this week. Maxwell clear was a bitch. I didn't feel like sinking enough energy and prep into a no KO clear, but managed to clear it out with LB kill and Diabolos summon after 3 attempts. Had a legit DC when Maxwell used Endless after 30%, but when the game loaded back up the battle started completely over.

How'd you get one of the emulators to work long enough for the blazingfast macro to work? Both Nox and Memu seem to randomly crash for me still, though Memu seems to last longer typically.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I didn't change anything today/yesterday. I did remove every other icon from the memu desktop and put the ffbe icon under one of the keyboard presses, so it may be crashing and restarting. However I've not actually seen it crash. I'm not sure if I've just had really good luck the last couple of days, or if I accidentally fixed it while tweaking my system earlier this week (disabled or modified a few sleep modes that I think were putting hardware to sleep after X amount of time, etc).

edit: i finally saw the game crash. I think it pretty much always crashes during a fight, so removing the icons and putting the FFBE icon where it'll get auto-restarted took care of the problem.

I'm a little tempted to do Barrage just because it will be fairly quick (and give me unit space back) but I'm leaning towards Celestial Gloves and Lordly Robe now; then the 2nd Dualcast with 2 Ludmilles.

That said, gloves are very nice, as is barrage (I pumped one out before this current batch went in). Are you done with all your dw materia? Omnirod is very nice as well.

I'd go second dualcast, Celestial Gloves, Deathbringer. I finished off my second dualcast and gave them to Refia / Cecil, a DC Pecil makes a very nice off healer in high AOE situations and is my only arena healer.

Gloves are always going to be useful. Deathbringer is one of my favorite weapons now with the Dark damage and maneater. It is my main weapon especially for causing big damage to light resistant Pecil in arena.

Got the top-3000 last week, and top 300 right now; ~750 monthly. Now just need a fucking mini burst pot for cecil so I can get him to lvl 15 LB. Spent my 10 summon tickets and got a giant pile of shit (1 turtle, 1 mini cactus, 1 small mag pot).

Just got real good units spamming 1.50 ratio or? I missed like 1 night when I was in the top 30,000 (admittedly I had no idea what the Ratios were so I always aimed for 1.00) and I think my best ranking was 20,000 or so.

That and I saw like the top 10 were all obviously super Whales with scores of 100k+

Prologue: Holy huge fucking post, batman! I started answering Jamison in-depth, and then decided I needed to figure out what I wanted to do next. It then turned into a giant analysis of what options I have available. This is probably going to seem like a huge bragging post, and I expect most of you to ignore it (I probably would!). I thought about just deleting it all, then figured maybe it's worth a little discussion if anybody has similar units/issues.

Did you get Maxwell? Because I'd start working on Power of Creation asap as well. That's definitely going in my next group.
I'd probably roll with a quick barrage first, then dualcast, PoC, celestial gloves, deathbringer, omnirod and lordly robe (out of what you listed).
IMO, DW and DC are first, followed by +% skills like PoC, katana mastery, or lunge combo, then items like the gloves and weapons. I like to intersperse dupe characters between the singles just to feel like I'm making progress...

So my current group is a Rising Sun, dual wield (for DW rising sun CoD), excal (though I may not use all the time due to cecil/arena), dualcast (for kefka), and blade mastery.
My next group will probably be a quick bladeblitz (only need ~8% on each), then I'll start the next singles: Dual Wield, Dual Cast, Power of Creation, Celestial Gloves, and Equip L sword.

Now that you've got me thinking, I have no idea where to go after all that. I have multiples of a ton of different good TMs, and I can't decide what order, whether to combine to get them done faster, or whether I need to make a bunch of each. Some of these are a no-brainer if there are multiple units to merge, but I'd never waste the time on a single (like a Magi staff). And of course, I'm sure more units will come out that I'll want to pull and TM grind. So many decisions!

*Equip L Sword (2 more garland) - 2 total is probably enough, just in case I want to stick a deathbringer, excal, etc on random character that can't use them

*2nd Barrage (2 Lunas) - another barrage is handy
*Mentality (5 refia) - probably do these in pairs, and then I'll have a spare 3rd one if I ever need?

*Melody of life (2 garnet) - useless

*2nd Gungnir (3 kains) - can't see needing more than 2 gungnirs?
*Magi staff (3 Lenna) - can't see needing more than 2, but probably 1 is sufficient
*Romandan Gun (4 mustadio) - I have no characters that need a gun, but tired of him taking inventory space
*Omnirod (5 Arc) - at least 4, for 2 dual wielding exdeaths? Maybe just all 5? I think this is still the best rod in JP

*Aegis Shield (2 leos) - 1
*Ribbon (5 Kefkas) - tough call... 5 ribbons is probably overkill... maybe start with 2 pairs, and again have a 3rd if needed?

*Cowl (4 hayate) - 2? lots of units can use this, and it's still BiS in japan
*Lordly Robe (3 alma) - 1

Singles:
*2nd and 3rd excals - will eventually want all 3 I think, especially if RNGesus blesses me with a TGCid
*Goddess Bow (Rosa) - useful eventually, maybe; better atk than killer bow, missing the passives though
*2nd blade mastery - probably useful eventually, though not right now (also desperately wanting a miyuki)

I spent 100 lapis this week on a refill, plus a single level-up refill; last week was 2 level-ups and a single refill. I also wake up at ~4am to burn orbs so I'm not losing any overnight. And I always challenge the higher ratios (though I'll pick a 1.4 rank 60 over a 1.5 rank 100 because losing streak sucks). I was at 190 streak before the reset and I'm currently at 80 for this week.

Chasing whales isn't feasible, effective, or efficient. And it's not necessary. Staying in top 3000 doesn't require an act of god or any spending at all, so there's no point. Also, I suspect that a lot of these whales aren't really fighting for top spots so much as they are after the arena medals so they can get the stat perma-pots from the boards and arena summons.
