I took an 1150 Olive friend into ELT with me and I'm so sad I didn't get an Olive of my own. With Embolden and her own def down debuff on Ifrit, she was shooting for 200k+ per shot, no chain. /jealous

I wish they didn't make the rewards catered specifically for whales. Granted this one is way better than the snowman event where there was literally no incentive to continue doing the event after you got the last individual reward. Also, during the snowman event we got over 900million points and there wasn't any bonuses for it.

I mean they have to make money somehow, but the good rewards really aren't catered towards whaling. I'm ranked sub 5000 right now and the only money I've spent on the game I haven't actually used yet. Sure you can get some extra summoning tickets and TM from being REALLY high, but if you're going to whale anyway... they have virtually unlimited access to what both of those do.

Holy good lord I thought I was progressing well until this Elite or maybe I am just missing the mark on first day but I think maybe I moved his hp bar before he annihilated my team. Pro I can farm easy enough. Saw this was the player's choice banner and decided to blow all my tickets and lapis I had been saving for Orlandeau on this and I am glad I did. Only one natural 5 star but it was Greg and I am quite happy with that. Also, enough Zidane's to almost have another dual wield done and plenty of moogles for TMs that I have wanted to level but couldn't make a priority of DW. Finally got a Cecil (4 of them to be exact), is there any reason to get more than 1-2x Excalibur? Greg will be getting all my Trust Moogles until he is capped. I also apparently need to pull a Delita and Rosa as I have 25% TM of Moogles waiting for them.

That's basically always the case; sidenote: I just cleared ELT in 5 turns with a beast Olive that could hit 600k on a low chained shot. Pls pop back in my friends list soon Olive friend; I will miss you until you return.

When I was first working on a team that could clear ELT, I dumped 5 10% TMs into Equip H. Shield so that Refia could equip flame shield to make my team work and it's definitely worth it since I can clear ELT p easily. Basically my group is like this:
Noctis / Ifrit
Lightning / Flame Armor (but basically all she does is Barfira and the occasional Crushing Blow which doesn't really do much)
Ling / +HP% materia since her HP is garbage (or maybe evade works too but idk)
Cecil / Flame Shield at least, I also use Ribbon on him for everything but probably best on someone else. He's generally either curing or casting Focus
Refia / Flame Shield, she either double casts Curaja or Esuna/Curaja, sometimes double Esuna if I can get away with it so Ling can give AoE MP or debuff instead.
Friend is Noctis with Ifrit or Olive.

Most important thing is that if you aren't going to abuse the Radiant Plume skip from restarting app, you need Ling's ATK/MAG debuff on Ifrit when he uses it or you're probably going to eat shit. I don't know if this really helps anyone since it's kind of specific but Lightning is replacable and so is Noctis really with whoever else is your main damage dealer. Ling probably has substitutes as well, but they won't be able to do as much as she can but her main role is the AoE para removal.

For the first time, my attitude about this game is fuck this. Outside of gaming this fight with a 100% evade 150% fire resist Ling, so much whaling that you can one shot Ifrit, or you just get lucky and he doesn't constantly AoE down shit, this is just an exercise in bashing your head into a wall. Nevermind his break resist really fucking you over causing you to waste an action for nothing.

After a good 30 minute fight and getting him to 30%~ with optimized fire resist (including a few TMs) and multiple HP +30% loaded up on everyone. I wiped because I got stuck in a loop where he would one shot everyone except for Refia and Ling, including a 10k HP Cecil. I had to keep AoE raising + 2x Curaja in the hope that he'd miss/not AoE everyone down. 9 turns in a row, he did exactly that, until he left Cecil and Noctis alive. Re-heal, rebuff, and in comes Incinerate to reset it all again. Lost a few turns later when an 80% evade Ling forgot how to dodge a goddamn thing.

I really have no drive to even bother pushing for an Elite clear. They've ramped the difficulty to truly retarded levels for no real reason.

Show me your team; I really think you have a lot better characters and TMs than I do so I think you're probably missing something on your attempts. I got smashed like 3 times before I figured it out, but I'm positive you should be smashing him.

Okay here's what you need to... switch Ifrit to Noctis, put Flame Mail on Luneth, get rid of the Bushido Freedom, give Jeweled Ring to Ling. That gives everyone 50% fire resist. I started with Bushido Freedom but I couldn't figure out how to do it on my own party BUT it absolutely shouldn't be on Ling because she has too much to do. If it's going to be on anyone, it should be Cecil. Like I said above, make sure you get the ATK/MAG debuff on Ifrit before the turns where he's going to use Radiant Nail or whatever the 500% AoE is or you probably won't live if you ignore the Bushido Freedom like I do. Also, I hate Greg friends, I think Noctis is a lot better because of his MP pool. You shouldn't have any real difficulties though once you do that...

My ling has 65% fire resist only, no dodge and only ~4600 HP for comparison sake and like I said, I don't dispel the -fire buffs.

I feel like it's obvious to some extent, but I also keep Barfira up 100%, I use Focus on turns when I don't really need Cecil's heals and I use Noctis' Cover occasionally to supplement so that I can free people up to do other things like Focus. If I can sneak in Embolden on turn's when healing can be taken care of on other things, I'll do that too but absolute make sure Ifrit has that ATK/MAG debuff from Ling on him for those Radiant Nail turns and you have your buffs up and you'll be fine once you get everyone in your party to innate 50% fire resist at minimum.
