How often do you need an all mage or physical party? My standard party is well-rounded (SoD, chiruzu, vaan, Kefka, fina), but I have enough other units to make mage or physical-heavy parties.

Not saying a balanced party doesn't work, as well. But look at it this way. When you use Cheer on a boss with Fina. The only thing CoD and Kefka gain from it is the Defense. If you had physical damage DPS in their place it would make Cheer even more useful.
Look at it from another perspective. Would you want to bring two magic user's to a party in FFRK where Shout is the only damage buff? Or would you prefer two more physical attackers for that fight? Sure, they would still benefit fromt he haste, but same deal, they aren't really getting the full benefit.
Also, keep in mind this game can chain damage as well. That goes for magic damage as well since you have Elemental Chains.
Overthinking it.
Am I missing something? CoD is physical, yeah?
Specializing your party is arguably more of a thing for the higher end Colosseum fights. The trick on either side, though, is having the right folks to pair up. Currently, we lack some generally accessible abilities to make melee more tempting. Yes, stuff like Barrage on a pimped Chizuru is nice, but that's not really what I'm getting at. I'm talking more like the ability to craft things like Thunder Blade or other weakness targeting abilities that aren't in the game at the moment. Similarly, with mages having vary spell sets, you might have to settle with something like a crafted Blizzara on someone who doesn't get ice spells natively while others may have the -aga tier. Not being able to craft stuff like Fira is also a pain.
I know Trust rewards can work around some of this, but they really are a pain to get in a timely manner.
4* CoD, Fran, Celes, Rydia, Clyne all maxed out. not going to have enough time or energy/lapis to go further, and I don't have the awakening materials for CoD/Celes yet anyway so I'm ok with that. all things in their time. this event has been fantastic and I can't wait until it comes back again.
also wtf is a trust moogle because if it does what I think it does... that's awesome and worth saving up friend points.
Got fina, vaan, Kefka, and chiruzu capped at 80. CoD is 65. Burned 200k gil to fuse all that. Fun weekend! Hopefully they do another one soon!
Decided to start this game today; I ended up with Cecil/CoD/Kefka/Golbez/Kain as notables from my first 10 tickets. Is there anything relatively important to shoot for/know? Friend code is 088 578 736 if anyone wants to add me; what's the best char to share? I have it as Cecil at the moment.
I would make CoD your share person. And focus everything on getting her to cap followed by kefka than prolly cecil. You kinda joined at a bad time as you're gunna miss cactuar dunes :/
metal cactuars you fuse with characters for major xp. Do not sell white magicite if you get em as you explore new dungeons. I wouldn't waste time on quests till you're through the story unless the reward is good. This site is an AWESOME resource:

Don't share Cecil. He's a tank, and most folks already have one. The best bet is to share a high ranked phys character like Chizuru or CoD, or a strong nuker like Exdeath or Kefka in your case.
Yeah, I was on the fence whether I was going to play or not until today and then I spent a good amount of time rerolling today to get something decent. I got another account that I was debating playing a little with Chizuru, Kefka x2, Golbez x3, and Miyuki, but I think my other one is better in the long term.
In the process of rerolling, there were some really stupid accounts like this one with 6 fucking Kefkas:
You really wouldn't believe how many times I saw accounts with 3-4 Golbezs and he seemed WAY more common than Kefka for me.
Wouldn't rule out Golbez being statistically more common given how meh he presently is as a character. Basically a half-ass mage without the gear to back it up. Could otherwise see a party of 4 Kefkas and a healer being useful, though, particularly with element chains and LBs.
Maxed out a few characters, including 5 star Gilbert. I can see future use in his chant ability he gets at 80 for harder fights. Gives the entire party protect and shell for 3 turns, but at the cost of him singing for 3 turns.
Is there a way to completely remove a character from a party slot? Like, to completely empty that one slot instead of just swap it with another character?
Click Unit > Swap > Remove Arrow at top left.
Yes... but they can't be the leader. You cannot have a completely empty party set. If you click "swap" on anybody but the leader, you'll have an option to remove.
Also, Classik, level your espers. You and your lvl 1 crap with your lvl80 Exdeath amuses me every time I see it.
Still gotta finish Rain/Lasswell to 80 1st! And I have a LVL 17 Ifrit
Golbez isn't bad at all. His increase espers parameters gives me like a +30 mag with shiva (still 1*), a max level 2* would probably give him a decent bump in mag stat.
I got krile, terra, bartz, kefka, golbez and rydia max lvl with cactus event. Really liking rydia, lb almost fills up summon gauge and deals good dmg with summon. Can't wait for 5*
