Good to know. I might check that out. I booted up FFRK last night and although the battles are mindless and laggy, it really does the FF charm so much better than FFBE. If anything, using an emulator for the tedious stuff like leveling weapons/characters and setting up equipment would make the game much more playable.

I really do like FFBE better overall, I just wish it was more of a nostalgia-bomb. :/ FFRK has that aspect, hands down.

I'd say I prefer BE's combat system over RK's. First pro is that you're not subject to ATB shenanigans and can take your time in fights. Second is that character abilities are better fleshed out and have a potentially greater variety (with more crafting/TMs). And while gear is important, you're not at the soul crushing mercy of RNG to make someone decent. Really, the biggest flaw there at the moment is if there's a comparable piece of gear you can find/craft relative to another class/type. RK's better about giving out characters through dungeons/events, but I don't really see anything stopping BE from having little events where once you finish a set of stages, you get a 3* of some feature or whatever. Aside from them NOT wanting to do it, obviously.

I think I'd care about RK's "nostalgia factor" more if they actually attempted to make stories out of it. The brief post-dungeon summaries rarely do a good job of explaining what happened in the area of a game, nevermind often skipping giant chunks. Plus there's the whole minimalist approach they've taken to their "multiverse" stage they've set up.

Anyway, if BE can guarantee new islands/content every month or so, I think it'll eventually overcome. It's grindy in a similar, yet different way than RK, yes, but I feel like most any problem I have with it will simply get resolved with time/QoL updates. Will still assert the low energy pool you start with is probably one of the worst aspects at the moment.

There's multiple differences between RK and BE, but the biggest for me is the ability system. I really hated being tied down in RK with two per character. I'm sure it's gotten better (I haven't played in a good 8 months) but having to sacrifice useful attacks, buffs, and debuffs to fill in a weakness condition or a counter to a status effect was always extremely annoying. Having characters with a dozen plus abilities and materia slots to sub in needed things or just flat boosts really opens up what you're capable of doing. That's not to say it won't eventually devolve into an optimized approach because it certainly will, look no further than Cheer + Full Break + Barrage. But there's plenty of other approaches that (for now) suffice, unlike what I remember about RK.

Did a ticket pull out of spite for getting nothing but a book in FFRK and got my first ever 5* pull lol, too bad it was on Hayate (was pulling for Locke, favorite FF6 char beside Celes/Terra), watch me not get Lightning now when she comes and I can then say: "Damn, that Hayate could have been Lightning".

Quick note: I never got a pop-up for the daily log in reward, but the items were in the messages screen.

How much of the new island do you have to play through before you get to the next city? I'm looking forward to Ramuh, and access to him is apparently from a quest in that city.

It's several stages, but you get 100 Lapis for completing each one. And a lot of EXP for rank up.

I'm trying to not spend lapis on NRG refill, and I'm almost done with Golzas Canyon. I won't rank up any time soon, so no free NRG there. I'm hoping that Felicitas is after Wharf, but before the reef, grotto and shrine.

    It is directly after Wharf.

Oh wow, I thought we were done at 2* LVL. 40. What do you do to awaken it for 3*? Just go back to the Ifrit dungeon again like for 2*?

You can't yet. That's JPN only for now. But I'm sure as hell not looking forward to it when it's available. 180k to get from 1* to 2* is a lot... but 800k to cap at 50 is just painful to look at (assuming you ONLY use the correct color megacite, you still need almost 450 of them. Just using green as an example, I average 2 per 8 NRG. So it'll take ohhh about 75 days worth of NRG to cap. And if you need another flavor... yeah good luck. Maybe there's gigacites or megagigacites later?

Didn't seem that bad. I only started leveling Ifrit about a week ago. And I'm at 2* 38/40. Just by keeping as much NRG spent as I could in free time on Westersands runs. 2-3 minutes each. Was nice for rank ups too. It's probably going to slow up this week since I need to get through the new island, though.

That's ~232k worth of xp. And you've basically been doing nothing but running westersands because we've had nothing else to do. Plus westersands is fast, only costs 9 NRG, and gives the 1.5x magicites. So yeah, that's excellent. And makes me cry at the same time.

It's worth mentioning that my estimation of 2 per run doesn't include shards, magicites, and colored. So those together may be worth another full megacite or two depending on luck. Nor does it include the bonus daily NRG, rankup, or login rewards.

Awww... I feel like we have enough "Magey" Espers right now... I was really hoping Ramuh would be a more attack heavy one, its just Ifrit so far :\

I think Odin will be attack heavy. Ramuh is very much geared for magic stat.

There isn't really another physical attack heavy Esper until Odin which only recently came out in Japan. Next 2 are Diabolos (Mage again) and Carbuncle (Healer) followed by Odin (Phys Attack) and Titan (Physical Attack + Defense)
