I have to say this new event is great.

Tons of rank exp while being able to just farm the ELT using repeat, this is so much easier than trying to cap stupid explorations.

I'm using a combo AOE team of WoL, Lightning, Tellah, Kefka, Fencer to spam.

Mixing it up with a little exploration using my A-team (vaan, chizu, cod, kefka, lenna), and the ELT dungeon with the mage team (3 kefkas, tellah, and vaan with icebrand). Both of these are extremely easy and quick, especially compared to other recent events.

I see that to get all the good shit you need to farm ~900 items per day (summon tickets, star quartz, shield, katana). If you want to farm 6* mats for your lightning (you asshats that got her; ok I may be salty), you'll need another 600ish auracite per day. As I don't have her, I only need to run 9 or 10 per day. Yay! or something.

edit: given the low number of auracite if you aren't shooting for 6* mats, you should run the INT dungeon for that badass 65xp/NRG for your rank. That's a HUGE boost over the current best, and is even higher than anything in the JPN version. And you can practically take a farm team to it (assuming they have actual gear and aren't lvl 1).

I'm not good enough to clear the ELT reliably so it's the pleb PRO tier for me. :[ The rank EXP is really good though like you said Coren.

I'm enjoying the event, but that's by far the biggest surprise to come of this. If this is a sign of how future events will be, I'm glad I didn't focus on rank farm earlier in the game. I ranked up this morning and I'm about to rank up again as a rank 64, although I did use 150 energy worth of pots.

I'll probably start doing PRO only now that I know I don't have to maximize NRG through the entire event.

For that 900 auracite/day, you'd need to run either 9 runs of ELT or 18 runs of PRO. However those 18 pro runs net you a cool 11.7k rank xp, or most of a rank per day. 9 ELT runs is only 7200xp.

If you want shards do the battles, if you want less shards and some magicite do explorations.

It looks like farming this FFT event is going to be tedious as fuck; has anyone set up a cool priority list for what I should focus on? The shield was easy to get and I figured I'd get the mats for the katana next then hit up the summon tickets. I feel like I should grab the abilities while I can but since they are character exclusive for people I'm probably never going to see; is it even worth it?

I want to finish up the new story stuff but I feel like it'll take too much time away from FFT grinding.

I set CoD with stacked man-eater up as leader. Does about 50% more than Chizuru on Elite. I can also switch to Kefka if anyone needs.

October daily rewards are fairly good, but lack of a trust moogle or any LB pots makes me /sadpanda

Also after the official rewards table is completed, any extra days are now 100 lapis instead of 3000 gil.

Lightning succesffully awoken to 6* unfortunately I don't have nearly enough cactuars to make her 100, so since she's good enough at level 40 I'm going to grind her in ELT farming.

Once I get my lightning finished to level 100 my next goal is going to be making a maxed out 4-5 Kefka party. I kept trying for Chizuru, but all it wanted to give me was Kefkas, and it seems like a full magic team would be good to have.
