Only reason I think the leak is complete bunk is because it included FF9 Remake, and SE inexplicably thinks players hate any FF that's not 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 14, 15.
KH4 and Chrono Cross Remaster also seem like fanboy pandering.
A handful of games mentioned in the leak may be real projects, but out of pure coincidence. I hope FFT Remaster is among them, but really don't have high hopes.
There's more evidence coming out, as a few retailers accidentally had a 2023 release up and then taken down.
Chrono Cross rerelease seems like horseshit. I wish they had made Chrono Break more than a decade ago when they were still good at making games.
I've lately started a thing where on some weekends I will stay up late as hell getting drunk and playing nostalgia games. Chrono Cross is the first one on this list. The feels are real
VII, VIII Remastered, and IX Remastered are on PS Now btw
At first im like mobile game mehhh. Then I read this
"Despite being a mobile game created on the GREE platform, the game has little focus on social interactions and log-in bonuses frequently found on the platform."
And it's free and on Steam? I'll give it a shot
I refuse to play a full length rpg on mobile so then yeah I'll have to emulate it. Which is definitely gonna push this way back on my to play list lol
I'm honestly inclined to say AE is a pass. Despite the emphasis of it being a solo mobile game, you're still very much beholden to gacha mechanics and time gating mechanisms that emphatically make it not a traditional JRPG. Progression is also not smooth where it's typically a result of some new system being added for more power (grasta/lights) and you were meant to grind it for for a half a year beforehand. I'd probably have a different tune if it was like, "Buy X 5* character for $5, or 5 for $20!" kind of monetization with 4* and below being quested with 5* upgrade paths for all, but that's simply not the case. Some of the combat system nuances are otherwise not very fun once you get into the harder things you can't brute force.
I disagree with some of that. They're definitely time gating mechanics, and there are certainly busted gacha characters.
But the Tales and Persona collabs give you free characters that can carry you through a ton of content. Off the top of my head. . .
Morgana - Solid healer, wind user
Joker - Decent DPS -- his swap in skill is an AoE good for clearing trash mobs
Skull - Thunder / crit rate buffer
Violet - Solid DPS
Cress - Slash Zone buffer
Also some of the side story characters end up being pretty good.
Gairyu's a free fire zone setter
Mana has some pretty good skills that are useful in a lot of the more difficult fights.
The other tales characters are solid DPSes for their elements
That said, you will run into a lot of what Arus brings up if you go for long marathon sessions, for sure.
Yeah I can't play a single player story game like that.
